Despite popular opinions over here, I am willing to pay for Wales, Greece and Finland from DR1. 2.0 is just the better engine and having 12 locations seems just ace in many ways.

Yes, as I'll do but i Will wait for the price tag of the single rallies. Couldn't care less about RX.

Yep also here already downloading 7.9GB on Steam. For some reason it's trying to download in kind of bursts??
nope Internetz connection is ok and other DL's work perfect. May be a temp server something? Will check later again

Just tried out the Monaco stages. Overall, they look basically the same as in Dirt Rally 1. The tire selection is only Soft and Winter. The tarmac physics definitely feel better than DR1. There are new track side replay cameras so you can watch the whole stage with only those. Some snow can fall from trees and the cliff above

Stoked, time to get sliding around Monte.
I do find it amusing when people complain about the cost of Sims. I love to race hire karts when the opportunity comes up. They cost $30 for 10 mins, so in half an hour I can blow $90 the same as buying a Sim I race for hrs/days/mths and occasionally years.

So did a bit of a midnight experiment with Monte Carlo now its released on xbox. Fired up dirt rally 1 and took the C4 up the turini montee stage and then did the same in dirt rally 2.0 (using both tyre options). Heres the results.

Citroen C4 - Route de Turini Montee
DR1

4:56.238

DR2
5:46.664 (winter tyre)
6:04.166 (soft tyre)

The different between the surfaces is now very pronounced and it feels to me like Monte should. The snow and ice amounts seem to have increased and have a far greater effect on the car than before. And as you can see with the tyres, strategy will be crucial as it's very hard to drive the soft tyre on anything other than pure tarmac.

Very enjoyable.

Yeah I noticed the ice was a lot more slippery too. At first I thought it was placebo but seeing your testing confirms that. There's very few opportunities to use the soft tires unless you know there's gonna be two short stages that are both on the lower sections of the Monte

Wow wasn't sure I'd enjoy Monte much but that ice and snow is an amazing challenge. The feel of grip between tar and the ice is great. The first time I lifted off and touched the brake and slid down the road i was impressed. Time to leave a mark on the rest.

The difference in ice patches and plain tarmac is quite dramatic. I really love it!

I also noticed that the low frequency output when driving chase came has improved. It seems that I can now use the tactile feedback with chase cam too.

Every time I play race games I play AC, ACC, Wreckfest, Kartkraft. I have no idea why I never touch DR 2.0. :ouch:

I absolutely adore the RX part of DR 2.0 and still, I always choose other racing games.

Well they're quite different games you've listed there. Maybe you just play other games? I'm sure many people here play other games too.

Would love to try Monte Carlo tonight (sounds more difficult than DR1, which I am curious about), but my PS4 went kaput and I had to reformat the hard-drive and start reinstalling games. 1.5TB of games will take some time, but Dirt 2.0 is on top of the list. Thankfully my save files are intact thanks to PS Plus.

oh bummer. I noticed that nowadays you can also save files save files to a usb drive. Initially you could not do that. I don't have psplus so, every now and then I should back up my save games.

Good luck!!! And yes Monte is difficult in 2.0, but very rewarding too.

Not to stray too far off topic, but yeah, along with USBs, I believe external hard-drives work with PS4 now as well. I actually wasn't aware that PS-Plus saved my files automatically and I expected all my data to be lost in the reformat, but thankfully that wasn't the case.

I had DR2.0 re-downloading all night, so it should be set to play after work, but I assume Monte Carlo is a fairly decent file size (someone said 7.9GB above, but that's PC?) and I will be waiting on that too.

It's a bit like Argentina in that the stage KMs aren't very long but the average speed is quite low so length of time on stage is still long. Pra d'Alat took a good 9 minutes last night in a C3 R5.

Monte Carlo didn't take to long to download and install this morning, I'd say 250mb on PS4?

Has anyone else had an issue with accessing Monte Carlo on PS4?

I downloaded and installed the update, but Monte is not in the game. In the ‘special event’ it says I don’t have permissions for it, so I went to the PS store, to see if it was like the Skoda update, where I had to download the car for free from the store, but Monte wasn’t in the store...
I’ve restarted the PS4, checked everything again, and still nothing.

The Monte Carlo rally is available in my PS store. Deluxe owner, so I could buy it for 0 Euro.

reply for @GTMajarcus

Thanks for confirming. It’s definitely not in the Canada PS store. I’m a Deluxe owner as well, so was looking forward to it today.

This is message I get the special event and this is what the PS store page for Dirt Rally 2.0 shows

I’m enjoying this game, but it’s frustrating to not have access to content I have paid for already. Hopefully it’s sorted soon.
