Something that really bothers me by now is AI difficulty. Something seems off. Im not a great rally driver but the fastest AI driver set to difficulty 10 (!!) was 40 seconds (!!) faster than me in Poland. I finished 25th. See, this isnt fun. I had no accident in this rally. I was cautious and affraid, but 40 secs?! Come on. I was able to compete with the AI in the first game till the last campaign level.

Ouch. I was thinking I could just set the AI level to lowest and play the game that way, but I guess not.

They've supposedly fixed the problem... for the second day in a row (a similar status was posted yesterday).

I guess it wouldn't be a Codemasters game if I wasn't somehow satisfied while at the same time regretted buying the game.

I haven’t played any of the Rally career mode yet, only RallyCross, so I haven’t noticed above, or at least not in the time trials I’ve done.
What I have noticed was after I came first place in all 4 of the Rallycross qualifying heats for a location, I was only in 12th at the end of them. Basically I beat all A.I. in all 4 of my heats, but 11 of the 19 A.I. did better then me in all the heats I wasn’t in...
So the A.I. was ‘easy’ in the heats I participated in, but posted ‘hard’ qualifying times in the heats I wasn’t in. I found this strange.

Same thing used to happen to me in DIRT Rally 1, very annoying when it happens, rally cross was punishingly hard in DR1, i assume it is just the same in DR2.

I’ve only done the beginning of a RallyCross career and so far it hasn’t been nearly as difficult as Dirt Rally. I assume it will get harder further along but so far easy. I won every qualifying heat, the semi final and the final, but finished with the second most points
An A.I. in the other qualifiers beat my times and got more points as a result.

Why did they remove the automatic detection and synching of the car's steering wheel rotation with my wheel. I now have to go into settings and set saturation to either 60 or 100 depending on the car I am a driving.

Dirt Rally 1 did this for us.

Same goes for the detection of what gearbox a car has in game. DR1 did that brilliantly.

Watching many DR 2.0 videos, I noticed that the dust is very dense. Much more dense than IRL.

I turn my wheel and the car barely acknowledges the turn on the screen. I have to rotate the wheel almost all the way around to get around a 1 or 2 turn. Rallycross is impossible with this and rally is frustrating.
I’m using a G29 on a PS4. I can’t find anything in settings that will fix this for me (not helped by no descriptions of settings in the options menu).
If anyone has any tips for setting up a G29 on a PS4, would be greatly appreciated.
feel the same way, but I think its perfect with a controller.

DiRT Rally 2.0 Deluxe Edition players: we're sorry - we know this weekend didn't go to plan, and we're working flat out to fix it.

We've given you all 1,000,000 CR in-game as a thank you for your patience this weekend - we've already made positive changes in light of your feedback, and expect the road ahead to be a lot less bumpy.

Use 100 steering saturation and Soft Lock set to on. The wheel now matches with the car type automatically.
Wheel should be set to 900 in your profiler.

Im playing at 1/100 difficult setting right now. Surprisingly, this is still somewhat a challenge, at least for me. The AI is still competitive, but i think they run into trouble more often.

@GTMajarcus and @The Cake , DR2 is bugged regarding the movement of your steering wheel movement compared to the movement of the wheel on screen.

You 'll get the best result when you try to get them in sync. Here's how:

Steering wheel synching issue

Calibrate your wheel in the menu using the full 900 degrees of your G29. Press the X button to confirm. O back takes you back without the calibration values!!!

In the input options set the Soft lock to ON. This should give you resistance in your G29 when you reach full lock in the car. The rally cars in game do not have 900 but somewhere around 540 degrees.

Next is the saturation option for you steering. If you set it to 100 then the game should use the 900 degrees and with the soft lock option it should stop at the car's steering lock.

Unfortunately, it depends on the car you choose. For some cars it works, for others you will feel that saturation = 100 makes the car feel floaty, you have to steer too much to get the car to turn.
Solution: set the saturation to 60 (60% 0f 900 degrees = 540 degrees). This results in you physical steering wheel making the exact motion as the on screen wheel.

It can also go wrong the other way around. If you have set saturation = 60 and you find your car being too twitch to drive and the wheel on screen turns faster than your physical wheel the the solution is to set the saturation back to 100 again. his results in you physical steering wheel making the exact motion as the on screen wheel.

This solves the problem. But it you have to do it every time you get into a car. In Dirt Rally 1 this was done automagically.

It depends really on the car. Some require 100, while other require 60.

I’m assuming you have soft lock set to 100?

That is the force of the soft lock. You can set that to the value you want. It's the level of force you feel once you reach soft lock. I left it to default.

It should not influence the issue I described above.

I got confirmation from Codemasters that they are looking into it.

The other soft lock option is the one you can set on and off.

Still one day to go to find out what the content of season 2 is. :P

Guys remember to check your tyres at service

Didn't realise you stay on the same set unless you change them. Went in after 4 stages and realised my tyres were a badly worn used set. Explains why it was handling so bad!:dopey:
Good. This means that DR 2.0 has probably a good tire model.

Doesn't really mean anything more than that tire wear is at play and works as intended. It's probably still a pretty simplistic wear but a welcome addition non the less.

That possibly explains quite a bit! Good spot.

Here's a Stage where I take on 100% AI difficulty :)

I agree AI on DR1 was full out retarded as If AI cars were driving on a straight line on a persistent manner, specially on Greece, but now this looks the complete opposite where they haven't found an even field. Could you please do another video on a wrc2000 or something like that but on a longer stage, AI 100% again?

That's pretty cool that they gave out the cash. Playing late last night I already noticed a marked improvement to the Racenet connect. Fromearly evening til 1 in the morning i did not get a disconnect compared to random ones throughout the day before that.

@Jimmy B Yesterday I saw your video on 5 things you wanted to see improved and the one thing that stood out was de tarmacphysics and the reason behind it. Where did you find the info that tarmacphysics couldn't be improved upon because of the AI? If that is true then why even bother with saying the physics actually improved? If I understood correctly in your video, Codemasters is able to fix the physics but AI wouldn't be able to keep up. Well I rather have this last option tbh.

Any more details you can share on how and what?

I've been in contact with one of the devs about this and that is a false rumour according to him.

Haha, I say that and first thing this morning I get "could not connect to racenet" just clicked on it again and it connected right away but smh man. :)

Same with changing to "wet" tires on rainy tarmac stages. Those do wonders. And I didn't notice the option until after a series in Spain.

The game is very good, so far. I'm just as terrible as I was in DR1, but I can manage to win stages here and there and having a blast trying.

One minor complaint is the car selection icons aren't very good at showing off the car's livery and there is no good way to look at the car from the menus, is there? Would be nice to view the full car when selecting an alternate livery.

Ha, glad it wasn't just me who did this! Thought I was starting to master the RWD cars, then couldn't figure out why I couldn't keep the car in a straight line!

I have a few gripes, but the core game seems very strong and, if they can get the details ironed out, this is surely going to be the best game in the DiRT series. I have barely touched the career as everything I want is ready to go in freeplay.

Hoping to get to grips with the base content before the DLC starts to arrive!

Lol, don't forget to test drive and setup your car after you buy it if you don't purchase the option to tune it at the service stops. I bought the Peugeot to race in the daily and went straight to the race. Once your in you can't leave without a forfeit. My springs were so hard I was bouncing all over the place and the car would do a 180 at any kind of brake pressure. I limped over the finish line 4 minutes over and with 3,000 dollars more damage than I made in the race. :)
