Im playing at 1/100 difficult setting right now. Surprisingly, this is still somewhat a challenge, at least for me. The AI is still competitive, but i think they run into trouble more often.

What is default difficulty ? I have not found this setting yet.

Guys remember to check your tyres at service

Didn't realise you stay on the same set unless you change them. Went in after 4 stages and realised my tyres were a badly worn used set. Explains why it was handling so bad!:dopey:
Yep, I didn't spot this at first either !!

Difficulty settings are only available in the freeplay mode. Ie:
FIA championships, historic, time trials etc. In My Team the difficulty is set according to what championship you are in, there is no slider/adjustment to be made.

I have only spend time in free play so far, there you will be able to adjust difficulty. I think there is a tab under the championship options. I guess you cant adjust it in career mode?

I agree AI on DR1 was full out retarded as If AI cars were driving on a straight line on a persistent manner, specially on Greece, but now this looks the complete opposite where they haven't found an even field. Could you please do another video on a wrc2000 or something like that but on a longer stage, AI 100% again?
I'll try and get something out in the near future :)

It could be location-specific, or the fact I was using Soft Tyres, or the relatively low degradation I had on that Stage, many factors.

Doesn't really mean anything more than that tire wear is at play and works as intended. It's probably still a pretty simplistic wear but a welcome addition non the less.
If it works as intended means that it is a good tire model. If it didn't work as intended, people would complain and CM would do something about it.

@Jimmy B Yesterday I saw your video on 5 things you wanted to see improved and the one thing that stood out was de tarmacphysics and the reason behind it. Where did you find the info that tarmacphysics couldn't be improved upon because of the AI? If that is true then why even bother with saying the physics actually improved? If I understood correctly in your video, Codemasters is able to fix the physics but AI wouldn't be able to keep up. Well I rather have this last option tbh.

Any more details you can share on how and what?
One of the comments on that particular video is of a beta tester and he also said that it has nothing to do with the AI and CM is working on fixing/improving the tarmac physics.

  1. Looks like the always online My Team career mode is here to stay. Again they state it's for the integrity of the leaderboards, yet there have already been quite a few Dailies with NEGATIVE times (1.21 gigawatts in those cars?).
  2. Leagues/Clubs and eSports confirmed.
EDIT: just one of the many cheating examples (source: Reddit https://www.reddit.com/user/MunsterHonter)

Is there anyway to turn off ai in multiplayer? My buddy and me had several moments in rallycross where we're the only people in the lobby but never got to race each other. Even when theres a full 6 people with it set to single I only race against at most 3 of the actual people. I know they're doing it according to actual rallycross, but it gets annoying trying to race against your friend and you end up facing the same ai.

I think they will get all this ironed out, the game hasn't even officially released. GT Sport pretty much did.

After receiving the one million credit payout, I decided to venture into the deeper section of the car dealership for the first time...

... R5 cars now cost how much?!

....And then you pay 160k~ to unlock tuning

Haha, yeah I think that is one of the more unintelligent design choices they made. I can see doing it at a staff level maybe, but for each individual car?
Good thing I have that extra mil. :)

It was officially released last Friday.

Last Friday buyers (including myself) were basically beta tester, who had to pay to test. Harsh but true.

I am sure we'll get there, but it the road to there resembles the Argentina stage.

At night.

In the rain.

Lol, poor Argentina is getting such a bad rap. To compound it, it has the worst framerate in the game. I get what you are saying about the deluxe edition. But I bought it more for the cars and season pass than early play.

I haven’t played any of the Rally career mode yet, only RallyCross, so I haven’t noticed above, or at least not in the time trials I’ve done.
What I have noticed was after I came first place in all 4 of the Rallycross qualifying heats for a location, I was only in 12th at the end of them. Basically I beat all A.I. in all 4 of my heats, but 11 of the 19 A.I. did better then me in all the heats I wasn’t in...
So the A.I. was ‘easy’ in the heats I participated in, but posted ‘hard’ qualifying times in the heats I wasn’t in. I found this strange.

Exactly that. I’ve progressed to the elite stage of the Rallycross career, with m’Polo now on Engine level 3 (hasn’t made a lick of noticeable difference to me yet, mind you, the AI is still SO much better off the line and on the straights), and I’ve found that on certain tracks I just can’t keep up, particularly in the wet, despite posting times that, on average, would be good for Top 5-10 positions on the multi-platform global leaderboard.

To sum it up, I barely made the semis and barged my through there into 3rd on the first corner despite the engine power differential. While the cars behind me fell of noticeably – 4th finished about three to four seconds behind me – the cars in front of me just rode off into the sunset, never to be seen again, and finished about nine seconds in front of me. From the brief visual analysis I did before that happened, it doesn’t look like they’re driving on a wet surface, their cornering speeds and handling are just so superior. I have to say, it’s not much fun playing that way at the moment, particularly considering I know I have absolutely no chance to win if I’m not in front after the first corner.

EDIT: Salvaged a third place in the final, but the ridiculous heat races cost me so many points I’m now down to second in the championship.

Also, I have noticed that a disproportionate amount of events takes places on wet tracks – it was bad in the previous tiers, but now it’s five out of six rounds in the current championship, which is ridiculous.

What a mess.

No. It always splits you into heats with AI.

...as are the accidents

Tommi Makinen walked away from this 17 years later:

I was there.

Is there a place where we can view leaderboards for stages while not being logged into the game?
With RaceNet logging all of my times after every run, it would be interesting to check progress/timings. Probably asking too much though..

I googled and found nothing.

In other news, I did 60,000 dollars damage to my poor Polo in the weekly challenge. 🤬
