Downloaded in 38 minutes,no problems,failures what-so-ever.
Guess I am a fortunate one , lucky , or something !

I think the big run on the update simply is over, so the ones that download it now shouldn't have problems getting it.

Imagine the chaos when the Spec III gets released!!!

And do you think they will have rented more servers to compensate?

My guess, no. They have known about thier crappy down speeds since spec II update..after this update, why should we expect anything more?

In all honesty, i'm starting to have doubts about how good GT5 is going to be when it finally gets released.

Gran Turismo Used to be about its fans. But now its about money...Hence the GT TV...$$$ They have forgotten about its hardcore fan base, and catered towards the average joe idiot that plays this game for 10 mins, then pitches it aside.

Again, Thank You PD

totally agree with you. I've been a fan of the GT series since it began, but am becoming more frustrated with the game.

Again like a few have pointed out, PD is probably going to get little money off of GT-TV, why? Because they have to pay the people who's programs are going to be shown on GT-TV (unless of course tons of people use it, (I won't be one of them) besides not like they make you buy it), I completely disagree with you, I think the fact that we are getting updates at all is a sign that they aren't just interested in money. Man people around here sound like 12 year old kids than anything else sometimes, sometimes. Like after we get an update and people think it should have been a better update. Or because they still have server problems and you assume PD isn't even trying. Stuck up prigs. 👎

Luke,

I guess we will agree to disagree. Although I resent being called a 12 year old kid. :( I just believe if PD really did give a rats bum about its fans, it would take into account for past history.

I didn't say the update was crap. Although manys position here is that. I would have to disagree with you. The update made the cars easier to drive. If you remember before, prior to this update the average joe racer could not keep up. Even with the Rubber Band Effect, now with the new tire physics average joe is able to drive the cars with much more ease. So, instead of pleasing the hard core GT fans, PD has decided to go with the masses. Which is understandable, because the hard cores don't make up that much of the purchasing power. So in that aspect I understand why PD made the game easier.

Point here, This game is suppose to be a SIM game. How is it simulated when the cars feel like driving something from Need For Speed?

Back to the update speeds and failures. Yes, if you did your reading, it took me 98 times to download the update for my PAL game. 98 times.. What a load of crap. Prior to this, if you just bought this game, the update failed a few times before letting the user DL the full update. Also, if you remember Spec II, same problem with the severs..Slow DL speeds, Failed, whatnot...

If they did care about their customers, they would have learned from before and tried to beef up their servers. Becasue lets face it, they are crap.

I guess that covers it.

Speak for yourself. But considering the amount of money that games are now, then you've got the priced add on packs, it comes to a tidy sum. PD are a long way from going skint. These crappy GT-TV vids they are trying to promote are ages old, i've already got half of them on my PC HDD. They need to fix the online flaws first before charging people for old grainy SD vids. I've been a GT fan for a long time and it's about time they concentrated more on the actual game, instead of trying to rinse money out of the GT-TV add on.

Man, I'm sorry, I've been having a rough day, (still learning when to shut my mouth so that I will stop shoving my foot into it) my outburst was unnecessary, and my frustration got away from me due to what's been going on today. Yes there are problems with PD's servers I won't say that there isn't, but that doesn't mean PD didn't try to fix it, they may have, and what they tried may have failed, I don't know if that's the case or not, but, I am a benefit of the doubt kind of guy. :) I personally think that the new tires are a little too grippy, we need a medium between what we had before and what we have now, because the tires were just a little too slick. But if you remember many of the hardcore fans here agreed that the grip needed to be improved, but not by that much. I will agree that PD is rolling in it, definitely. I will like many others hold off full judgment until the full GT5 which I know is a long way off, but still. ;)

Taken into account.

👍 Its cool dude, I just kind of jumped into the thread. Just saying how poor my experience has been. If you don't know me well, I myself saythings that I should not here. I am very opinonated (Thank You Mother). Its cool, as long as we don't insult on another, its fine to debate and state the facts and arguments. I love arguing, its fun and rewarding for me.

So, that about covers that. :)

P.S. I think they care about average joe, more than they care about GTPlanet Community Members needs. If we were posting our complains in the Playstation forums, maybe the update would not have been more toward the slower folks.

Too true. Even an Elise can keep up with an Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo now. Thats how much of a joke it's become :)

98 failed downloads tends to have that effect on people :yuck:.

Perhaps it's time for some of us to register on the PS forums to make sure Sony knows what we're saying here at GTP. It would give them a broader insight into what hardcore GT5:P players would like to see in the game.

Having problems downloading latest update anyone else getting problems , Sugestions welcome on how to solve it .

My suggestion would be to just set your alarm for 3 am EST and try to down load when there is almost no one online.

My other suggest would be to give up and sell the game. lol (Kidding)

HAH, I never realize that..wow, that is pathethic. That is why I stay a way from Fuji PP750.

Not a joke sir, our game has become a Need For Speed or Grid game. (well car grip and power wise) lol

The fact that I kept some kind of a count is crazy! I think it was 50 or so the first day. Then about the same for today.

I am registered there. Everyone is registered there Metro. You have a PSN account. lol I think we should start posting in there.

/me thinks of a way to lobby this in the forums.. hmmm

Actually, I suspect they do not have enough server load balancers to handle the traffic.
Time to get F5 SLBs into the picture PD!

Perhaps it's a wan link balancer they should invest in?

I didnt have any issues with the DL (Lucky ME).
I do have issues with new GT-TV episodes. It simply points me to the playstation store which ends up not displaying anything aka 'we do not have product' when you check out.

I think the new update while it fixes some things (better grip, less tyre screeching, I think it also introduces a little bit more understeer? Not sure on this last one), it still doesn't fix what we are really concerned with a.k.a racing online. To see an elise catching up to me on the straight on Fuji (S2000) was...scary.

Penalty system still don't work! I got bummed off track during brake (who said the japanese players were polite? They bump like most ppl I've met), got a 4 sec penalty for SHORTCUT (WTF!!!!), and simply couldn't recover after that.

However, it's great to see the effort for the new content / changes put into the game. At least they DO care and not leave us with nothing but a long wait for GT5's release.

Sorry, but I fail to see your logic. I don't imagine the "average joe idiot" who has probably played Prologue and forgotten about it entirely is the target demographic for GT-TV.

If you don't want to pay for any of the content on GT-TV, fine. But if they deliver on the Fall update, and never charge for any additional Prologue game content, I don't think PD has lost sight of its fans to money.

Every businesses' goal is to make money, however, and Polyphony can't just give everything away for free. At least they're not charging for something unfair, like gas.

Well i'll say one thing, if PD dont pull there finger out soon, then I wont be buyinig any more of there games, and neither will my children. This latest update is farcical. God knows what the finall game will be like.

Chadswick have you managed to DL the update yet?

Oh yes I was able to. 98 tries. lol

If you haven't Chadswick, then I will try to help you.

UP! ^

What in the world are you talking about? I can't imagine anywhere in my post did I suggest that GT TV was made for the masses. Look here man, why don't you reread what I said, if you read half of what I said in the first place, and then we can have this converstation.

Just another exapline of someone else that does not pay attention.

... or as a torrent. The more people downloading, the better the availability. Would have been perfect.

Exactly.

Maybe PD didn't know what the outcome was going to be. Hopefully if will be better in time for the next update for Spec III or PD AND us will be in big trouble.:nervous::nervous::nervous:

I see what you mean, now that you mention it. But don't get pissed off at me and accuse me of not paying attention because your damn sentences flow right into one another. I read your post just fine. The problem was that your line about GT-TV flows right into your line about PD forgetting the hardcore fan, making me think you meant that they forgot about the hardcore fan with GT-TV.

Im not pissed, because this happens all the time lol.

Yeah, I need to work on my paragraph structure.. lol Im afraid that is the problem with ADD, lol. I will go back to grammar school hah

I think thats like 14 tries now, if it doesn't work this time i'm giving up for now.

Not what i expect from Sony/PD... they can update the game thats all good but what about updating download system which is seriously flawed.

Having some real problems after the update!!:grumpy:

Strangely, every time I've downloaded it's taken about 15 minutes and worked perfectly. The problems I've had are when I go into the game and try to access GT-TV, I get a message which says "Obtaining Gran Turismo TV content information. This may take up to three minutes depending on network conditions".

I've left it like that for over an hour without anything happening and the only way I can get from the screen is to quit from the game. I've had to do that a few times now and every other time I've re-loaded the game it will just show the Sony, Polyphony then GT logos and say loading but not get any further so I have to quit, delete all my GT data and start again.

For the first time since updating I've just managed to load the game after quitting from the GT-TV page freeze but whenever I got to either GT-TV or News it will just die again!

Has anybody else had these problems? Should I be worried or is it probably just a matter of the servers being so busy and that's why those parts freeze?
