Hi folks I love GT5 but im starting to think the dlc is a knee jerk to forza 4 . According to PD they can have content every 2 months , yeah they may well do but what will it be down to in the end 1 car and a helmet , as they funnel more resources into gt6 . The first dlc was cool and people are expecting that amount every time now . Why dont they just say were just going to concentrate on gt6 so we can get it as best as we can for the ps4 release ? And to be honest the cars in the new pack are dull , love the gtr but id rather have the gt1 version it seems to me all the cars people want hsv10 ,aventador etc etc wont appear only to be saved for gt6 . Anyhow the updates are excellent and obviously they are beta testing for gt6 so they can get it spot on so PD keep up the good work .:)

It is just business. If they would say that, they would not be able to milk money from GT5. Also it just better for fans that they do not get their hopes up for GT6 too soon.

Plus DLC even if its a low amount keeps our interest up till gt6 so all the good stuff will be released for gt6

Does not compute.

GT5 is today out for more than a year now.

Every Time/Drift Trial have more than 100.000 unique PSN-ID participants, you can check it by registering some obsolete time and see the place where Rankings will place you.

Every night (CET) there are more than 80 Open Lobbies races going on, with unknown number of open Private Lobbies.

Sony stated how first DLC was bought in over 1 million times, slash that on half, you still have 500.000 DLC content sold.

Knee jerk to anyone? I don't think so. Userbase and number of players that are playing GT5 on daily/weekly basis is higher than anything else in the genre and probably among the biggest overall - once when popular FPS and MMORPG are out of the context.

They know what are they doing and players play GT non-stop. They are just following their own path and all we see from the results is how their path is much better than vocal-minority tries to imply.

I don't really understand your wall of text (OP) and also, how is there a connection with the thread title with it?

eer...and Forza, which came after the GT series, isn't a knee jerk reaction to GT? :)

Not sure how it's a knee jerk reaction. Those cars, well aside from the GT-R as it's just a few minor changes, have most likely been in development for months before Forza 4 was even out.

What is with the complaints has anyone been to the tdu2 forums now thats a neglected game atari made the money and treat people like idiots at least gt5 is still offering changes

For pretty much a whole year there was no dlc , then within weeks after forza 4 there was dlc to stop people straying to forza . My point being why dont pd just scrap the dlc and put everything into gt6 it will be better for all of us . AND IM NOT CRITICISING THE GAME, i love it .

I wish they would scrap GT6 and give us some more tracks.

Normally after a GT release a year or two will pass and sub versions will be released or atleast shown off (Concepts, demos, GTHD, Prologue etc). However now we may get on-going DLC to continue while we wait for the next full GT iteration.

Knee jerk reactions is something PD have never done, or ever needed to.

Sorry, there was this big earthquake and a giant wave and the biggest nuclear disaster since Chernobyl.

Dates slipped.

What is a knee jerk reaction? Is it a jerk's knee...what?

It's a swift response to something or a quick reaction.
PD can never be accused of that.

Spec 2 release on the day of Forza's release was a pure coincidence of 365/1. Nothing more.

I really like the new DLC, was a bit upset when GT5 was released without the Golf VI R....now it is nearly here, GREAT

No, but GT5 causes quite the knee jerk reaction no matter what it does.

I can only imagine the emotional distress over at Turn 10 and Microsoft over Forza 4's lack of retail dominance.

I can also imagine a knee jerk reaction by T10 and MS over the 1,000,000 DLC purchases on GT5 when FM4 has barely sold over that thus far.

Seems only the fanboy's, internet plants and trolls knee jerk to me.

While I do think it was strategic when they chose the date for the Spec 2.0 release and first DLC. I wouldnt say it was a decision made in haste. As DLC has always been a plan for GT5.
Though they may have initially planned for an earlier roll out, but things changed with events in the past year, that it was then decided, why not hold it back abit tin attempts to draw some attention away from Forza.

I don't think it was a knee-jerk reaction to solely FM4 - I think the more recent DLC was a reaction to vocal players (such as many of us here on GTP) wanting DLC. FM4 being a popular console competitor that also has a lot of DLC (and cars GT players want) probably contributes to that, but my personal feeling is that Kaz and the gang are more influenced by what their fans want than by what their competition is doing 👍

I don't think DLC is a reaction to Forza in any way. I feel plenty of DLC was planned, got delayed for various reason, not only the earthquake, but also programming patches and updates.

Though I will say this. While I think 2.0 was planned regardless of Forza, I do think Sony sort of "pulled rank" and specifically decided to release 2.0 when Forza released. And in term s of the DLC, that probably couldn't be implemented until 2.0. That's a business move on Sony's end, and not really a bad one, though a bit petty. Reminds me of Dana White counter-programming other MMA org events with UFC events on TV.
But I honestly doubt Yamauchi-San even knew when Forza 4 was releasing. He doesn't come off as the kind of developer who would even pay attention to anything his competition is doing. If Forza didn't even exist I think we would have gotten the same exact things added to GT5, just 2.0 and the DLC may have come a couple months sooner.

That's my take on it.

I agree, Mr. Yamauchi seems that kind of person that only concentrates on his own game. And doesn't pay attention to what others do. I'm sure he is aware of what they have done, but he makes up his own mind what to put in, not go off trying to copy anyone.

I agree that Kaz doesn't like playing cold war with Microsoft. He seems very uncomfortable in interviews sometimes towing the SONY party line. But SONY isn't above doing something like this with MS, as both of them do it. I think it's pretty obvious that SONY was doing releases to jab holes in the ship of Forza, just as MS released videos of Forza WIP videos to coincide with things like Prologue Spec II. Plus, it gives us something to fight about, until the mods come along and dump cold water on us. ;)

Not mutually exclusive. They can charge us for DLC in GT5 and use the same high def model included standard in GT6. I can choose to ignore some DLC's and WILL buy others.

Aventador, HSV10, F50, F-XX, RuF RuF RuF!

At this point I wish they would just forget about GT5 and concentrate on making GT6 be the best it can be. No more GT5 repeats. Forget about GT5 PD, Turn10 and FM4 got it this time around, you guys need to make GT6 be all it can be.

You need to listen to the guys who DON'T have the word "CRAFTSMAN" tattooed to their heads. They will tell you where the game has come up short and where it needs to go forward.

I think they ARE thinking about GT6. And I think every car that gets added to GT5 through DLC is made so that it can just be "dagged and dropped" into GT6. BUT you and I have to ASSume that they've (PD and Sony) already decided that GT6 is going to be a PS4 game, not PS3. So, that being the case, wouldn't you like GT5 to be continually expanded at least until PS4 comes out.

If you and I love GT5 (I know I do, I don't know about you), doesn't it make more sense for us as consumers to spend little amounts of money here and there to expand the game we already know we love as opposed to spending $60 on a whole new game that may not even be as good? A game that's going to have to start all the way back at the beginning with patches and fixes?

Personally, I'd much rather put $30 or more into GT5 through DLC over the next year than buy any new sim-style racing game. For me I don't even know why they release any new racing games at all this gen since GT5. Not sim-style anyway. They've got no chance to get my money now. Maybe next gen.......as long as they release it before GT6 that is LOL.
