DLC cars, purchased from the NCD
"Warning: This car can not be sold."!

Hey guys :),

I just downloaded & installed the 2.02 update. Then I tested out one of the new features:

# Cars purchased through DLC will now appear in the Car Dealerships. You can purchase additional versions of the same vehicles within the game using earned race credits.

I re-purchased the 3 karts (jr., 100 & 125) from the NCD, because I wanted them in other colors, to replace the karts I've got in random colors from the first DLC pack. :sly:

Re-purchase: OK! 👍

You can now re-purchase DLC cars from the NewCarDealership, with ingame credits, each in 16 different colors.

No problems till now, all re-purchased karts appeared in my garage.

Deleting the old ones: "Warning: This car can not be sold."

What, really PD?!? I can now re-purchase the DLC cars from the NCD, hundreds of them if I like, but I can't get rid of these cars by selling/deleting them?

That's imo not acceptable as we have to fight enough with the car & item limit (max. 2000 cars & 7000 items).

I could simply restore a old backup from some days ago, but I deleted today around 800 dublicates of paints & gears, and then purchased 800 sport air intakes to reach the limit again. So the daily login paints & seasonal gears won't mess up my collection again. Some hours work I won't do again. :sly:

Please vote what you think about & if you've found a solution, please post it. Thanks. :D:tup:

I almost fell in the same trap.

Good thing that I backed up the data before trying this.

Bought a Honda CRZ TC, and yes, "this car can not be sold."

I just bought a few mini's for the paint chips (hot chocolate MMMM) and found out these cars are just gonna take up space in my garage.

I definitely want the option to sell or delete them.

Thanks for bringing that to everybody's attention mate, but more to the point, 800 race filters? what on earth dude!!

I believe it's good to have this so you don't sell your only Scirocco or CR-Z TC or whatever, but the duplicate purchases shouldn't have this limitation. I'll have to open up a new account just to get a few of the new colours without clogging up my garage.

No. I think PDs trying to say once one car is worn out (HP Reducing) you've got another one to replace it.

It would be nice if they implemented the option to sell it, I can understand why they have it like it is though, I could see people accidentally selling one of their DLC cars, even though you can still re-purchase it, it would probably still cause people grief. Maybe have the option to just remove it if you have more than one of the same car?

I noticed this last night. Personally, I would like the option to sell/delete. I dont really care about getting credits for selling one, but I would like to get rid of them.

It will sound idiotic but I think this is the reason:

Purchasing car packs from the PS Store and selling the cars in-game basically means you can, in a way, "purchase" in-game credits with real money. You buy a car pack for $3.99 and sell them in-game for credits.

Stupid? yeah. But we've seen worse.

To me it's no big deal. The car limit is 2000 and even on my main account I have something around 980 cars. Not even halfway through the limit.

That might have been there when the DLC was locked into one account and the cars could not be bought. To prevent headaches of people selling cars that they paid for and had no way of getting again. A patch will come that allows you to sell/delete them in the next update, just make it known. This is my take on it, seems plausible as DLC was not supposed to be shared remember and it was locked to the purchasing account so you would always have the car. Seems like SONY caused PD to do some things that they have not done before, sigh.

I was expecting to be able to get rid of the Miata, R34 and R35 Touring cars after the update, since we can actually buy them now from the game... (if you bought the DLC, of course)... but after seeing this cannot be done... well... it pisses me off a little bit... 👎

I hope they fix this someday...

I think as long as you have the DLC installed you should be able to use them like normal cars, and only able to trade them with people that have also purchased the DLC.

It's probably indeed been implemented this way before the first batch of DLC where it wasn't possible to buy the cars again from the dealership and as a safety to ensure people didn't accidentally delete a car they bought with real money.

However, now it should be removed since all DLC cars are available in the dealerships and this redundant safety-function only is an unnecessary annoyance.

I was a bit disappointed as well... I wanted to sell my worn out Miata TC and replace it with a brand new one but it seems that's not possible. I'm sure PD is aware or will be of this and they will fix it.

Why buy dlc and then delete cars. It's such a waste of money

You do realize that you can buy these cars in the dealership now, yes? And that you aren't deleting the DLC itself?

I checked today and it gives the same message when you go to sell the Stealth cars, so I suspect they just built off of that system.

Got the 2011 mini in the wrong color, bought another one. Now I have two 2011 minis stuck in my garage.

I think that if you can buy it again in the NCD, you should be able to delete them. It made sense not being able to delete the touring cars before the 2.02 update, but now that the DLC is in the NCD you should be able to do anything you want to them but trade 'em.

Also, I wanna be able to delete those useless extra museum cards.

They probably did this to prevent you from duping the cars, and then selling multiples, and raising quick cash. Really though, if you paid money for this download then why would you want to sell them? That entirely defeats the purpose.

I don't even like this new one. It drives like crap compared to the Mini S I already have modded, used for Hot Hatch Seasonal.

Yep. I was expecting that the DLC cars are added to the game and work the same way than any other car.

This still feels too restricted....

Well its kinda obvious to me atleast, that they forgot to change that when they made the cars purchasble in game. Hopefully somebody bring this their attention and they fix it in next update next month.

At least make the DLC cars tradeable.

Whats the point of trading the car to someone who has not purchased the DLC? Even if you could they would not be able to drive it. They have to spend the money on DLC to drive the car. It has been this way since GT5 came out. I have the chrome cars, they cant be traded or sold.

Looks like you haven't got the point. :sly:

The problem is that you can't sell/delete the DLC cars. Read post #1 again.

Can you not repaint a car or use a refresh ticket rather than buying a second one?

Sure you can repaint the DLC cars, but some karts have unique colors, and you don't get a paint chip for it.

You can also use a refresh ticket for the DLC cars, if engine wear is the reason why you want to replace it. But don't forget, these refresh tickets are un-tradeable! I would rather use it for one of my stealth cars instead of wasting it for a NCD DLC car. :sly:

It's possible to delete the car tickets (given to you after purchasing the DLC from the PSN store), but once you've added a DLC car to your garage, it's there & you can't get rid of it. Even if you have now 2x, 3x, 4x,... of the same DLC car.
