Im sick of incomplete games PD has been peddling us.

GT3, GT HD, Prologue, GTPSP, & GT5...

GT5 is BARELY a step up from GT4, SORRY, but Honestly PD just shot themselves in the foot.. I spend more time with GT4 STD cars. Pathetic that there is Standard and Premium situation to deal with. PD has to realize they have competition in the industry, it's no longer only a choice of GT5 or NFS...

Now the game goes back to be a driving simulator.

Nice.

It never was a Sim, just a game repping a Sim. GT5 is the biggest "wannabe" in the industry... More hype from the series UP TO GT4, then anything done really great since then.

Games nowadays take "updates" as a way to sell us half a game in the store then sell us bits and pieces of the game over the next few years. It used to be they completed the game before release and buying a game wasn't buying a game starter pack as it pretty much is now...

It makes me pissed

Honestly, I hope this kills GT once and for all.... PD has got to learn to make US a priority. I will NOT buy another GT game....

As I've stated, the worst part of this whole thing is that it was not "against the rules" at all. It worked well within the rules.

PD could have embraced it and and controlled it FAR better than this. I could probably write 20 pages on alternate solutions that would have been less destructive.

I'll say this, if GT6 doesn't offer more in depth tuning as has been experienced through modding, then there is really no point for me to spend $60 on an 80% rated game. (metacritic is still the industry standard http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/gran-turismo-5)

I can do without it's tedious single player slog just so I can get cars to hotlap with. The only reason I bought GT5 was the online. If it didn't have that, it was a lackluster title and definitely not a triple A game.

While i agree with you on better alternative solutions, you must consider that the solution PD chose would save it in the eyes of Sony execs and the licenses that they used for the cars they have. I'm pretty sure if Ford cared that their Mustang engines were being thrown into Mazdas(i wouldn't put it past them, they tried suing Ferrari over the F150 moniker) they wouldn't want to work with PD again.

If GT6 were to be on the PS4, then i don't think there is a reasonable excuse to leave out engine swapping and event creating, the processing power that console has is ridiculous. They have tons of time and resources to make the game way better than any other GT game, but lets just hope that we don't have a repeat of GT5.

I agree with most of this, GT3 had a pretty odd car selection considering most of the best cars either didn't make it into another series game or were altered in some way. I don't think the non-numerical games were intended to be complete though. Except for GT-PSP, i think they were just trying to take the series in a different direction with that. A better direction? Questionable.

Nice.

Really? Ever driven a car at racing speed? I have. Motorcycles too. This is a driving sim like a masturbation is a sex simulator - you can tell yourself you're awesome, but the truth will embarrass you.

I was named in two game lawsuits against EA. One by Colt (firearms) and one by Bell Helicopters. If there was any legal issues from a licensor, I would be shocked. Ford doesn't care if their REAL engines are thrown into Mazdas. It is extremely unlikely that that they'd give a crap since there is no actual representation of a Ford engine in the game. I doubt any engine IP was ever licenced for representation beyond a casual mention (ever notice that no actual engine names are used when viewing a car?). For instance, car nuts know what an LS1 is, but if you go and view the Corvette, there is no mention of the LS1 in the garage or dealership. There might be a mention of it in the museum or the demo, but that is not the same as representing it to the player in the same way that the car appearance and logos are represented.

Some producer somewhere made this choice. It was a crappy one. The easiest and best fix would have been to remove the "unlimited" option from tires and PP, then cap the horsepower. There is no need for horsepower over 4 digits.

Remember GT5 was garbage till 2.something update. The tuning was majorly flawed just like Shift was, things doing the opposite of what they should, (remember the Tunes with higher front ride height then rear, it was a JOKE) and the grip/slip problems from GT4 were still there..... Only since 2.something has it been worth playing, and honestly my copy of GT5 was collecting dust for over 2 years until Hrbrids brought it back out....

I wish threads like this would make it to the desk of PD game developers some one commented around the lines of todays games are jus start-up packs & the company pieces the game to you in these BS updates why put the game out if it isnt finished even there not broke needing money so bad the had to release an unfinished game dont get me wrong DLC is cool sometimes but the "MINOR FIXES" suck in a major way FORZA here I come

Since modding in GT5, I've been playing online less and less. This just solidifies my direction. 2.11 revert is done. Unless something really worthwhile comes down the pipe, I won't update again. And, unless I can import my GT 5 garage into GT6, I'll wait a year or so for that game to be made worth while before I hand over my cash...if I ever do.

I'll be interested to see the sales figures for GT6. If it isn't a block buster, it'll be a franchise in trouble.

Im right there with you, 100% agree

anybody tried to re-hack a car, do a engine swap or something? Have they blocked the saving of the swapped parts?

I have my savedata for each installation. My last savedata Mitts GTO 650 HP, I re-installed it and although it initially showed the HP I wanted once highlighted and selected went back to the original HP 410 :banghead:

While we may not have to deal with gorillion hp Fiats anymore, it is still against the rules or w/e to modify a car like the way a lot of us were.

I think the main reason why PD decided to drop hybriding like this is because it's not the legacy that they want GT5 to have. They were probably afraid of GT5 becoming "that game where you can have a 3K Civic" instead of it being a racing simulator. In their eyes it would be better to have a slightly mediocre racing game than a slightly mediocre racing game with cars that accelerate faster than jet fighters.

Really, it probably shouldn't have been possible to do this in the first place, or they should have at least taken care of this much sooner, like in January.

But here is the problem, in real life YOU CAN SWAP an engine and transmission then upgrade the engine, its up to your competitor to do whatever he can to beat you.

We basically got screwed because of the HP multiplied cars, had it just been legit we wouldn't be posting in this thread.

Like I said before. Mods still adhered to the game's rules. No game experience was broken by a mod, even the extreme ones. If you let in unlimited cars, you got unlimited cars. If you limited the PP, everything was fine.

The cheaters still win :grumpy:

@ Racing speed:
I have a "Ringtool" for the northloop. And yes, I have driven a car not only at racing speed, but also around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. @ 400 laps. For this amount of money GT5 IS A DRIVING SIMULATOR.

@this and other simulations:
Live is always best. But there are REAL costs....

Is the hybrid knowledge embargo still in place even though hybrids are taken care of now?

GOOD QUESTION!

Since its patched and NO LONGER a part of On Line Racing, ONLY for those who have not updated and obviously ONLY play Off Line, can we openly talk about GT5 Hybriding like the other GT titles?????

Maybe not so terrible since online was Bleh anyways and for those of use choosing NOT to update only.

My F2007 is still blue and my nascar car still has extremely low downforce so it can do low 40 second laps at Daytona outside of the tow. They've patched a lot of the significant modifications that can be made but some things haven't been patched, still got my R10 Stealth even though it was originally an R10 because I copied the R10 Stealth's body to it and the game identifies a car by it's body so technically it isn't classed as a hacked car.

Not everyone had the same amount of access to hybrids. Some people have the stuff necessary to make them, but others had to ask people to make one for them. Even then, some people had to beg people online for hybrids, and at that point it's whatever you can get your hands on. Meanwhile, in real life, you only need enough money and some knowledge to create a car with a swapped engine or transmission.

I see...

I think another solution adding onto yours would be to cap the HP at whatever the X2011 reaches at max, anything beyond that will be reset to original spec completely. I think this way we still keep a very large portion of the realistic hybrids, bar drag racers and monster trucks(?), and cars that breach the HP limit won't become essentially useless.

I think what i'm gonna do is stay offline for a good while and make as many unpaintable cars painted as i can. People will feel much less worry about driving against a hacked car if they know that patches have done away with most of the fast ones.

Stop complaining that this is PD's fault. The TOS requires them to legally stop all of this. It's not like they have a choice really, it isn't their decision.

Sony presides over all of this and they have basically the same rules as Microsoft. Forza has ways of letting you do this legally in-game, but if you hacked and made hybrids like this then you'd face similar things there. This is all legal matters and those of you saying that PD just want to piss you off need to realize that PD can't do anything but what they've done.

They have to do this BY LAW. And you agreed to letting them take action the moment you agreed to the TOS, which you HAD to do to ever play online.

I want hybrids to stay too. But all of you doing this has simply delayed GT6 due to PD having to stop people who broke rules that they agreed to at the beginning of the game. It was inevitable really and it isn't PD's fault.

It sucks, but there's nothing we can do.

Excatly. And I sware if PD does delay GT6 due to all this, I'm going to seriously get pissed off. Like PD needs more work to waste time on with GT5, honestly guys... Give them a break already.

And STOP blaming them for doing something right, not like they had a choice you know. It sucks but to bad so sad.

So? If they don't want you to change the game, DON'T! Maybe suggest it to them. They will listen.

Your point is right on target, other than spelling swear wrong.

Im not buying GT6 untill well after release if at all. I'm sorry but nothing against the agreement says I cant hack up MY PURCHASED property all I want. Swapping engines etc is me manipulating things on my game on my system, they have no buisness telling me what I can and cant do, they can patch and block them from online but that is all the legal action they get.

I understand blocking them from online play, and frankly I agree something had to be dome about that, but a simple PP or HP cap would of sufficed. This basically kills the Game. Im happy to not update the game ever again, as I don't think even after ALL the update get released for GT5 it will never become a complete game....

Yes there is. You probably were just too ignorant to read it. It's how the world works, sorry but you might as well get used to it.

And don't agree to anything that you aren't willing to agree to.
