I read reviews, they don't much matter to me though, if a game has a legacy like Gran Turismo, or Metal Gear Solid then I buy on presumption that it will be good because in the past they were. If I am displeased, I'll get on with life, but I never have been. If it's a new game I've never heard of like God Of War when it was new, then a review helps. GOW was, and still is one of my favorite games ever, reviews are what steered me to it, so in some ways they do help. Like I said though, a good legacy is enough to make me pull the trigger on a game just because of past installments.

I only read reviews for games i'm not sure of, not the case in GT.
But when i do look for some Opinions, Analysis or comparisons, GTPlanet is the spot.

I would prefer my own review, i don´t think about what any review of any website thinks about the game. I play the game, so most important for me is how i feel with the game...

In case of GT5 i will not care about reviews - because i think many of the reviewers will focus on aspect which i dont care much and dont touch "details".

I read reviews, a lot of 'em, when I'm pondering a game that's been on my mind as a maybe. I weigh the ups and downs of each review and make my decision.

However, for GT5, I'm gonna throw reviews out the window.

Why would I want to read a review that would probably be biased to the competitor? I would rather much play a game for what it is. I never read reviews from any game i have ever played. Normally reading reviews of games either releases too much info of the game or it puts a damper on my excitement for the game. GT5 will be what it is. All I know is that I have been looking forward to this game for about a year now and All I want to do is play it until my ps3 goes belly up!!!

Do you read reviews?

How much do you really care about them?
I do read reviews, but I take them with a grain of salt, especially if they come from 'official' PS3/X360/etc. magazines. It's not a coincidence that large games get excellent scores at sites or magazines where the publisher is also a large advertiser. Several publishers have been known to buy good scores (a.k.a. denying magazines/sites a review copy unless it gets a 90+ mark and a four page review).

If you want to get a good impression/review of a game, check out forums like this one.

reviews matter, bad games get bad reviews and good games get good reviews. I very RARELY enjoy a game that got a bad review... as a matter of fact, nothing comes to mind. This is why a good review is important. It does reflect the game.

Its hard to take some reviewers seriously.

They always pick on the same faults like the lack of damage.

Others will just claim that the game is inferior because they like forza or some other **** better.

Others whine too much about features that were not included in the game instead of doing a review of the quality of the features that are in the game.

+1.

Will look up reviews to see what people say but im buying it anyway.
Also since a lot of website dont understand what makes good racing games.

I use absolutely no reviews to sway me game decision. The person who likes the game that matters is me. The reviews taste in games my not reflect my taste. Most of the time game companys pay off credicts to give them a good review.

No matter what, 99% of the people will buy this game regardless of reviews, tracks, cars, livery, and other options.

I read reviews when Im not sure about a game. Im overly sure about this game... I will look at reviews to see what classic NFS fan journalists think... Could be quite funny.

IGN, 1up and of course GTplanet. I will get the anyway. If i wont buy GT5 i might as trow PS3 from the balcony :)

Having worked with reviewers, both official/independent and large/small, I generally find the smaller sites or independent reviewers to be more accurate. You also don't tend to get any more accurate than a hardcore gaming site. As the difference between what hardcore gamers and casual gamers want is huge, and no game will be able to satisfy both markets. Depends what type of gamer you are, I'm a hardcore gamer and will thus generally go for the hardcore type gamers.

If I needed a review for GT5 (and baring in mind I wouldn't be surprised if we got one from him before release) I'll look for Amar. I won't though.

Reviews are kind of pointless to me...

If you like GT and you are familiar with PDs work then you know that any sequel will trump the previous game.

I doubt that anyone in the right mind is going to abandon GT just cause some reviewer was not happy. Some reviewers nitpick more than they should as it is.

User reviews usually give you a better idea.

I only care for REVIEWS on games I do not know off.. Games like NFS shift, Dirt 2, they both got good reviews.. but for me, I do not like the physics..

I know FM3 and GT5 will have even better reviews, but I know physics in both games are more simulated to real life then any other console game..

If I was to buy a FPS, puzzle or action game, then I will look into review if it is worth it or not.. For racing games in general, I care less.. I play demos and I choose my own way.

Agree with what NLxAROSA said,I take them with a grain of salt.My reviews come via - myself.I go rent the game for 2 days or so,if I like it,cool,I'll buy it.If not, then so be it,move on to the next candidate.
