Interested to hear if people have the ghost car on or off while doing a TT. Me, I like to leave the ghost car on at all times to know exactly where I lose/gain time. You can also comment on what view you use if you want to(I use chase cam).

Bumper cam all the time, and I flick the ghost on and off so much without thinking about it that I find myself hitting the button during online races too. :dopey:
I sometimes look behind me out of habit while doing a TT:lol:

I use roof cam. I drive my hotlaps without the ghost line on, but when I make a mistake and I am down a few tenths I switch it on and try different things to see where I can gain time.

I do exactly the same

I use bumper cam. Turn the line on and off really. But probably the best laps are when I forget about everything else and I just drive the car...

I keep the line off for the most part because it's distracting, though I do turn it on sometimes to see how far/behind from my ghost I am.

I keep it on as long as it's not obscuring my view. When that happens I turn it off.
I also sometimes start a TT from scratch because I find that when I follow the same ghost for too long I do exactly what I did in that lap and don't try anything new.

I tend to turn the ghost on most often just before/after the sector lines to get an idea of where I'm at and how much time I need to find. Not that it helps much because I immediately feel the pressure if I'm ahead at any T2

I use external view though so I guess it's not as bothersome as it could be!

I keep it off but sometimes check the the triangles on the course map. I also often create much faster ghost (by adding power and/or stickier tires) to avoid seeing blue splits.

That's brilliant! I am definitely trying that out 👍

Bumper cam, and unless the ghost is distracting, it's on.

Exterior view , I use the ghost while exiting corners with small straights to see if i got better exit or not. In general i turn on and off many times during the lap.

I use the ghost as a line most of the time. When I notice it's getting close to my limit, I turn it off because I get a bit enthousiastic then. Also using the roofcam most of the time, it's disadvatage is that the revlimiter is quite unclear. So when I do a lot of misshifts I turn to the bumpercam. If only pd could give me roofcam with the bumpercam dials. Sometimes when I want to get comfortable with the track i turn off the display. But automatically disables the speedo and the rev dial :banghead: so since I started using the shift paddles there isnt any fun in that:mad:.

I try to learn the way the engine sounds at the correct rpm for the gear changes and after that rely on sound to do it. It's probably not as accurate as the tachometer but I can focus my eyes on the road a lot better. After some laps I get used to the way the engine sings as it approaches that point and holding the gear till' the perfect timing is very enjoyable for me. Of course no music while I drive...

@roamer2629 I guess I'm to lazy for that :P especially if pd just gives me the dials i want and let me chose what i want to see on my display what i don't want to see :P But thanks for the tip will give it a go next time!

I have the ghost on all the time and use bumper cam. It's a real confidence boost for me when I can see my ghost behind me.
When ever I've gotten frustrated I'll run a ghost a tenth or two slower to build up my confidence again.

Bumper cam and ghost probably 95% of the time. Like @roamer2629 I try to train my ears to tell me when to shift and keep my eyes down the track all the time.

I use the ghost to help me see where I'm gaining and losing time early in the week, but later in the week I try to trust the practice time and just rely on eyes and ears and instincts. Thinking too much slows me down a bit, but then again I'm kind of a slow thinker.

GL on and off. Typically on in the beginning at least. For a consecutive session I may not load my pb if I feel it's not very good. I think the ghost can be like insurance: you're likely to get a slight improvement with enough repetition, but discovering a new method entirely - if it is indeed possible - will be less likely.

I have normal view or in-car view depending on various factors. I would have a problem with any of the other options.

I think you are right really. The bumper cam is ok for me but some cars me you feel like your bum is scratching the tarmac, you know (Red Bulls, Caterham, F PD). I would like to raise it a bit sometimes, and by now we should be able to tailor the position at will. But I love the philosophy of the game so much, I'm usually happy to overlook the many quirks and 90's Japanese game feel the game sometimes has. That girl at Sierra reminds me so much of the one in "Ace Combat" for the PS2 it has me saying "Missile alert", "Caution, Stall" every time she opens her virtual mouth :D

Exactly what I do.

This too. But even after **** knows how much time driving them, I always hit the limiter in the GTRs/GT500 cars with the 7,500rpm redline. They sound to me like they want to rev higher.

I tend to use cockpit view for all premium cars in the TT's and online races with the ghost il keep it on untill I'm so consistant over the lap that I don't need it then il switch it over to the blue line just for a marker reference.
With standard cars I'm on the bumper cam with the same use of the ghost visible untill consistant then over to the blue line

Same for me, once it starts annoying me because I'm always on top of it, it goes off. Otherwise I just end up following it or missing the apex all the time.

Now I have the G27 I use bumper view. I used exterior view when I used the Ds3 though

I use the bumper cam, ghost is off all the time. I check the map to compare my lap with my prev. best.

That's me exactly 100% haha. Same view and tactics ;)

I use the Hood cam as well but the ghost off 99% of the time. :)

One thing i noticed though i always keep an eye on the map to see where the ghost is, near the end of a TT i can guesstimate accuratly how far behind or ahead i am from the ghost at the split time just by looking at the little Arrow

:scared:

it did screwed up some good lap though

I use the bumper cam and have the ghost turned off. I look at the triangles on the map if I'm in front or behind my personal best lap. I'm also always complete my laps even if I screw up, this way I hope to find some rhythm in my laps.
