If the world does in fact end on Friday, it will be resounding vindication of the Scottish national football team's wise decision to not bother qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.

My office lunch is on the 21st. It would be nice if Armageddon could hold off until after the cheese and biscuits.

I'm just enjoying the fact that even if the world does end, all the doomsday lot won't be able to say "I told you so". Whereas if everything continues as normal, we'll get the opportunity for a significant amount of piss-taking. That's win-win in my book.

It'll be a bit like the disappointment most of the members of Heaven's Gate felt when there wasn't an alien deity hiding behind Hale-Bopp Comet. I know, what are the chances?! Of course, I don't presume the 27 people (to date) that have selected 'Yeah' will be committing suicide afterwards... :scared:

If the end really is upon us, in the immortal words of Patty & Selma, I'd like to announce that "Ha! I beat cancer!".

Better get a lot more booze in me on Friday so that the space worms who chow on my decomposing corpse can get drunk as skunks.

As, if the end is nigh, in the words of a famous little green dude "There is no death. there is only The Force."

Sssh, Shem thinks it's real.

:) Reality is subjective. ;)

Plus there are those Scientology nuts who make my belief in the Force seem pretty normal compared to their Sci-Fi nonsense.

This one's quite close.

If this actually happens...I'll be dead.

Can't really say much else.

Nope, they have not the manpower to monitor the entire space around us all the time which they see as several hundred thousands of pictures.
A global killer slipping through NASA's radar is very possible.

They also said they only know about 30% of all the objects floating around in space that could put earth in serious danger. Don't forget that our galaxy is freaking huge and it only needs a rock the size of a cargo ship to do massive damage. For a a global killer a rock with a diameter of 1-2 miles is more than enough. And compared with the size of our galaxy those are mere dust particles.

This is definitely true (though it's not necessary to watch the entire galaxy). The budget for looking for dangerous objects in the solar system is breathtakingly low. You'd be shocked at the tiny number of people who's job it is to do this (part time). More funding, more manpower, more everything is absolutely 100% worthwhile to dedicate to looking for dangerous objects headed for earth.

That being said, a rogue planet would definitely be extremely visible and noticed at this point. Also, there's no reason to think that Friday is any more likely to be the date of impact of an asteroid than today (or 20 years from now). The mayans did not have the ability to forecast asteroid movement on that level. This is not something that can be done by hand with a few equations. Asteroid orbit determination requires a series of precision images and a lot of computational estimation (and a telescope, because you can't see these objects with your eye), you also need to know where everything else in the solar system is, its gravity, and how they all interplay together. It requires a computer, a lot of computer, and a big database on solar system objects.

So what is the next "end of the world" prediction date after 12/21/12 is busted?

Cant wait to see the excuses for the people that have been believing in this their entire life.

I am sure there will be plenty of "I survived 12/21/12 and all I got was this crummy t shirt" shirts for sale. Is it actually 12/21/12 or 12/22/12? Seems to be mixed responses.

I hope not, Ill be stuck at work all day. Then again if the 🤬 hits the fan theres plenty of liquor to go around at work.

Ok so if its 12/21/12 then do we all die a quick death at midnight on Thursday? Or do we all die throughout the day on Friday? These people crack me up.

BTW no one answered my other question. What is the next "end of the world" date after this one fails?

I wonder how those Doomsday Preppers will react once they realise that everything outside their shelters is no different than it usually is after the 21st.

Today should also be of note:

Depends if Harold Camping's next judgement day forecast is accurate.

If you replace the meteors with snow and changed the temps to a negative number I think you just described the weather for Wisconsin tomorrow.

Ohh Sam you should come to Michigan, its only supposed to be around 999.99 degrees on Friday. Much cooler than where you are at.
