Do you want burnout paradise style damage in GT5?

Damage doesn't have to go too far for me.
And i would live with the fact the race is over for me when i crash it into the wall..
most of the times after crashing you've no chance to win the race so what's the difference:)

Alot of the time online its still fun to race on after a crash. Each lap you try and reduce the split between you and the car infront until you catch them and get past. Plus, usually other cars will crash too, so even if you aren't going to come first, you can still race with the other noobs who crashed :P

In GTR Evo often I'll just limp back to the pits then keep racing rather than quitting after a crash.

I wouldnt mine having Forza 2 Damage in the game... pretty basic but has mechanical and physical damage thats good enough for me.... I would like Mechanical for the sole purpose of racing online because not everyone that plays video games plays fair and online would turn into bumper cars for them and they would always knock you out the way and keep going. With Mechanical Damage it makes them thinks twice about hitting you and makes it seems more realistic

Actually, damage in Forza 2 made online racing a nightmare. You would get a lot of people join games just to smash everyone up on the first corner and then leave, and if anything, it resulted in dirtier driving than usual.

The sad thing is, whilst a lot of Forza fanboys will rant and rave about how amazing damage is etc, the truth is a lot of the Forza 2 fanbase disabled damage in online races, and it was rare to join a game with it enabled, because nobody could finish races.

The last time I played Forza 2 online, every single lobby had the cars set to ghosts lol.

Wait last time I checked in 2007 when DIRT came out, the ego engine an evolution of the neon engine, the neon engine in fact I read that it was developed by codemasters with some sony assistance, which could be why reviewers said the DIRT on ps3 was the most consistent with FPS.....

No, because it's not particularly realistic.
Despite many parts coming off in a very satisfactory manner, think to your self, would it happen in real life. GT deserves the best damage PD can give it, not an overdone system such as Burnouts.

they should have just put mechanical damage and no visual...you hit the wall at 60mph? your race is over! you touch the guard rail with your flaming gt one? the rear explodes in little fiber pieces compromising downforce! oops..actually such an "explosive" damage should be transposed visually...OK...PD, just give us a proper GT game, it will be good:D

No, no, no.

Burnout Paradise to me is just an arcade game not to be taken too seriously, the cars do not act very realistically and although the showtime crashes are good fun I do not see why it would be necessary to include such carnage in GT5.

(I was going to say that things like that don't really happen in real life but i do remember seeing a picture a few years ago of an Audi that had been almost split in two down the middle when the Belgian driver lost control and hit a roadsign/lampost)

I don't think damage like this would improve GT5 at all

I'd really like to see the subtle dents & scratches you can get in close racing, but I suspect thats going to be something for GT6 (or more likely the PS4)

I think that it looks like they have done a pretty good job of covering the basics in this game, the major damage and more importantly getting the performance impact. While a few areas (particularly damage to glass) could do with improvement, there are so many other demands on the cell (AI, physics, number of cars etc) that we cant have everything...

At the moment the thing I really want to see in the real game is that the AI drivers also either suffer damage or at least suffer the performance decreases from crashing.

^And have guns too in multiplayer so we can shoot the gas tanks of passing racers for fun.

It'll be nice revenge for those who were punted.

GTA IV's damage is by far the best I have ever seen in my life. It's incredibly realistic and absolutely limitless. I remember jumping on top of an ambulance truck and Niko's foot literally made a dent on top exactly where he hit it.

Go do the swing glitch and you'll see what I'm talking about when I say the damage rules.

Damages are a prime part in any SERIOUS simulation... period. You have to learn to drive like a race pilot and to race as clean as you can because in real life, you don't have the right to error. If GT want to be called "the real driving simulator" it have to get a proper simulation damage system. But the real problem with GT until now, is its arcade gameplay (Stupid AI, Bumpers cars, goals to finish first in just 2-4 laps: not enough to really race "clean").
