Dodge Omni GLHS

I remember voting for this car back when Jalopnik was setting up car packs to vote on. Most of the cars, if not all that won are in the game currently. Does anyone have any info on why this wonderful piece of automotive history is still not in the game? I've done a bunch of research and failed to see any reasoning as to why its still not in the game. I truly hope that they didn't give up on this car, I'm sure i can get one for turn 10 to model... including my Shelby Daytona if needed lol.

What exactly makes it a wonderful piece of automotive history? Not many people outside of the US have even heard of it.

There's always a reason why a car doesn't get added. Most likely due to licensing.

Or most likely no one really wanted this.

It was sold as a Shelby, and was significantly uprated over the ragged-out GLH Turbo in the post above mine.
My advice is to be patient. There's a lot of DLC coming.

LOL! Thats a ragged out GLH, not a Shelby, and its still a cool car... That one pictured has 150hp, weak mitsu turbo and its non intercooled.. I made this thread because I'm wondering why it has not been implemented in the game yet, maybe someone has some info, as it was a winner stated above. It was sold as a Shelby through Chrysler dealers, which both are in game, so i don't think its a licensing issue. For those not familiar with it here are some better shots and info. It has the same 2.2l TII turbo I4 as the 87-88 Shelby Z Daytona's, Shelby Chargers, CSX's which received 175hp and 200ft lbs of torque, forged crankshaft, water and oil cooled Garret t3 turbo, inter-cooler, Holley TB, 2 piece intake manifold and 5-speed Getrag trans. As far a a historical standpoint, an I4 with 175hp and 200ft lbs of torque in 1986, 30mpg, and correct me if im wrong but the first time Carroll Shelby has teamed up with any other auto manufacturer besides Ford and AC Cars has its place in the history books...

I can think of a few other things that don the Shelby name that I'd rather have.

You guys are not getting the point of these cars. A 1986 Dodge Omni GLHS sticked for about eleven thousand new and was one of the fastest cars of the 1980`s. These cars to you may be ugly but you have to give them respect. They are sleepers and not only are they fast in a straight line they can also handle. Look up some vids on youtube and you will see how fast they are. I would take one of these over a mustang any day because a mustang is just another mustang. I also voted for the Omni in the Jalopnik pack and have been disappointed time after time waiting for the dang thing. I do still think it will show in a DLC soon though.

I have a 1984 Charger 2.2 and I know it will never be in Forza and I would rather drive an 87 GLHS Charger anyway in the game. The Omni GLHS is the closest thing I will have to my car in the game and I would be perfectly happy with it. This is my Charger I restored.

At least the Charger somewhat resembled a sports car. It looks like a Chevette mated with MK2 Golf. We might as well throw in the Isuzu Impulse RS while we're at it.

Why wouldn't they add the Impulse? :banghead: I'd love the Impulse.

Different people love different cars. There's no need to disparage someone else's pride and joy.

I also think some of you guys dont get the point of the car lol... You cant judge a book by its cover. Regardless of whether the car is fugly or not (which i dont think it is) its fun to toss around a sub 2500lb turbo shoe box...and again this is not a wish list car, its supposed to be in the game and turn 10 has said nothing about it since jalopnik's car list. Hope its in future DLC!

Also...

What!?! Isuzu Impulse RS's are awesome... I'm a huge car nut, I've owned many vehicles from a wide range of manufactures, so i have come to appreciate what every car has to offer. I currently own a very rare 95' BMW e34 540 6 speed (just restored), a mint 90' BMW e30 325is (70K original miles), a very clean and almost stock 91' Honda CRX Si, and a 300 whp Dodge Daytona Shelby Z pumping out 20psi of boost, all of which get auto-crossed and road raced on a regular basis.. each car has its own purpose, pros and cons, all handle differently but i respect what each one has to offer...i guess that's why i love the glhs?

I know of people who have driven that car and they aren't small car guys but loved that thing. I do like small cars and certainly see its appeal. Why isn't it in the game? No clue. Just cause you are biased towards the car doesn't mean it is "supposed to be in the game." I bet most of us here would like to see a car in the game. In fact there is a thread started on that topic already. And the GLHS has one vote. There are cars with 5, 6, even 7 votes. So at least on this forum, it isn't popular.
BTW, that thing is FWD, right? How is the torque steer on that thing? I know you're lying if you say there isn't any.

Power to weight ratio is no better than most other hot hatches, so I'm sure it's not bad.

I wouldn't think having the manufacturer license would warrant having a specific car in the game. Who knows, maybe the contract didn't include the car?

Stop drinking the haterade. Some of you don't like the GLHS. Fine. Get over it. Maybe I don't like having all the little 60hp starter cars in the game (I don't plan on using any of them besides when required...).

It's "meant to be in the game" because it was (apparently) one of the top voted cars for the Jalopnik car pack or the community car pack.

I'm from Finland, and I had never heard of this car, but I'd love to have more stuff like this!

The looks remind me of my old Opel Kadett D, which is probably the most horrid car...IN THE WORLD:

Still, I'm glad that T10 gave us such a large variety of cars to choose from. And then there's the DLC possibility.

I'm not sure about you guys, but I actually prefer driving and tuning cars I could possibly own in real life some time rather than 458 Italias etc. Not very likely to own one of those, in Finland at least. :D

I also think some of you guys dont get the point of the car lol...
Getting the point of a car doesn't make a speck of difference when it comes to desirability. There was a huge point to the VEB Trabant in eastern Germany before the wall fell. That doesn't make it any less of an uninteresting POS.

Same with the Omni, really. It may have its point, sure. Doesn't mean people have to agree that that thing should be in the game. I, for one, wouldn't think of an Omni if I was pondering what cars to add to FM4. Ever.

So, maybe they should've added that instead of the two Ford Cossies? The car list is pretty good as is. I can understand some people wanting their stuff, but there were quite a few cars in the Jalopnik voting that are not in FM4, no?

Anyways, nothing wrong with requesting a car, whatever car it may be. There's a thread for that, though, and there's FM.net's Car Request Thread, too. Everyone creating a "Why isn't [insert that person's favourite car] in the game? It's super awesome and has to be in it!" thread isn't going to get us anywhere.

We are not wanting this to be a request thread. We are wanting the only car that was voted in the Jalopnik car pack that did not make it in the game. This car must not be an uninteresting POS as a lot of people voted it in against some very nice and high dollar other cars. And no they shouldn't have taken away the two Cossies to add this. The more Cars in the game the better but this is a car that deserves to be in the game. This was the time in history where Carrol Shelby was with Chrysler not Ford and was making very fast and fuel efficient Cars. No other game has had a Shelby Dodge and Forza might be the first.

Perhaps they'll put it in one of the upcoming DLC packs, since they've already added the rest that weren't added to FM3. However, I thought the reason it wasn't included in the first place was because it was tough to find a real version to get data from.

We are wanting the only car that was voted in the Jalopnik car pack that did not make it in the game.
Except, it isn't the only car that didn't make it into the game from the final poll.

The '74 Ford Escort 1600 didn't make it, the '81 VW Scirocco S didn't make it from the final round into the game, the '86 Honda CRX Si didn't make it, the '88 Pontiac Fiero didn't make it, the '90 Celica GT-Four didn't make it, the '93 GMX Typhoon didn't make it, the '96 Impreza WRX STI Type R didn't make it, the '98 Aston martin V8 Vantage V600 didn't make it, the '02 Z3 M Coupe didn't make it and the '60 Aston amrtin DB4 Zagato didn't make it, either.

And, just to be clear on this, the Omni wasn't in the Forzalopnik pack. Here's the list of cars the pack contained:

  • 1971 AMC Javelin-AMX
  • 1973 BMW Motorsport 2002 Turbo
  • 1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS 454
  • 1971 De Tomaso Pantera
  • 1982 DeLorean DMC-12
  • 1987 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth
  • 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II
  • 1978 Saab 99 Turbo
  • 1983 Volvo 242 Turbo Evolution
  • 1957 Ferrari 250 California
So, the whole point of this thread is pretty much invalid, isn't it? That's why I didn't get it at first: The Omni is no different from all the other cars that didn't make it into the game. It was never a winner of anything. Which makes it just another request thread, really.
