Dodge Omni GLHS

I think the Forzalopnik pack was released pretty far behind schedule, too, right? I bet they had issues getting one to model or just didn't have the time to get to that one, and being late in the game's life they probably weren't as concerned with it.

I completely forgot the Forzalopnik pack had to be narrowed down from 14 to ten cars, my bad, then.

Anyways, to answer the questiona s to why it didn't make it: They probably had to drop a car and just went with the least popular of the bunch.

gawd, the pics posted here are hideous(great photos of bad cars). hopefully there won't be any cars of that magnitude in the game... OH, WAIT, THERE ALREADY IS ONE: The Nissan LEAF.

I prefer the styling of the Omni GLHS over some of the rounder small cars that are currently in FM4. I'm also partial to the blackout styling.

The Omni should be in here. It was a bad ass little box in the 80's. Remember the 80's, when 95% of what came from the manufacturers was terrible (99% if you only choose American). It was a terrible time for cars, and this one easily stood out back then, regardless of its looks.

There is one in the city where I live. Sadly, I don't think it is very well taken care of, but it still catches your eye when it drives by because it is a GM, it says Shelby on it, and you rack your brain trying to figure it out where it came from.

Forza needs the Omni as much as it needs the Cadillac Escalade.

If you don't like it, you can leave. No one is asking you to make disparaging comments.

No one car is more "worthy" than another. If you truly are a car enthusiast, you'll at least try a car. 💡

Same can be said for all the people defending it demanding we aren't true car people if we don't like it.

The Omni is worth having its own thread, though? :odd:

And I'd rather have an Altima Coupe instead of a PT Cruiser... Can't you see how this is a never ending cycle which is pointless to argue about?
Precisely. me, I'd much rather take a KP61 Starlet if i had to go with a boxy RWD hot hatch. That one can at least receive a 4AGE.

I figured I'd jump on the bandwagon. :D

I agree though that this didn't really require its own thread.

I've never understood the whole "I don't like that car. That car sucks. It doesn't belong in the game" deal, in this case, directed towards the Omni.

The whole point of the GLHS was that was an Omni, not an exotic. Carroll Shelby took an ordinary economy car and turned it into a legitimate performance car. Its original mission was to out-GTI the Rabbit GTI, but in the end it went so far beyond that, it ended up being able to hang with almost anything sold in America in 1986.

Add in the rarity factor of production being limited to 500 units, and the pedigree of getting one of the USA's most celebrated performance car guys back into the car-making business, and it's no less worthy than many of the cars already on the discs being sold.

Yes, we know the point, it's been recited a few times in this thread alone. Lots of cars had a point and could have been in. It's a never ending discussion and it doesn't deserve it's own thread over any other cars.

I doubt anyone would've said a thing against the Omni if it was listed in the "10 DLC Cars You Want To See" thread. When people think that the car they like is so special that it has to be put into the game, that's when you'll get a lot of people who'll question that attitude.

Well said, just because a certain group of people doesn't like the omni does not mean it should not be in the game. The truth is that the Forza community voted it in the game and it should be in the game unless they can not find a nice one to model or had a licensing issue. You don`t have to drive it if you don't want too. I will never drive the Pruis in Forza but I don't make fun of it as I understand it has a certain place in automotive history as does the omni. All the Cars Luminis mentioned did not make it because the community didn`t vote for them :D. This does require a thread because a Car That should have been in the game is not. The 037 Stradale was in the ultimate edition of fm3. The syclone, bmw M635CSi, and Starion are all in Fm4. Where is the community`s last Jalopnik car, the 1986 "Go Like Hell Som'more"

You guys could stop posting in threads that don't deserve to be threads (your opinion). Why continue to bump something you don't care about?

Besides, look at the threads below, anything down there interest you?

The looks remind me of my old Opel Kadett D, which is probably the most horrid car...IN THE WORLD:

The car looks more like a VW golf which was killing competition at that time, it's obviously a copy of it. Now if it's good well I dont know, american should stay to what they know I think, aka fast huge big car.

 freaking sweet!!!! cant wait for people to see how cool this little POS is!

This was taken from that shelby website

As guessed the pics are from a scan/photoshoot for a video game, and not just any video game.

Last month MicroSoft contacted us about using a 1986 Shelby GLHS in their X-Box Forza video game. AmyB chuckled at first but gave her blessing to the project so I had the MicroSoft people come out to the Los Angeles Shelby offices last week for a photoshoot of one of Carroll's Dodge cars.

Most of the work is in laying out the green tape. Once a grid pattern is layed out another person follows with an electronic measuring tip mounted to a robotic looking arm that is connected to a PC. Everywhere any two lines of the grid pattern intersect, the measuring tip is touched to that point and it makes an input into the program. From there the software can build a 3-D model of the car by knowing exactly the measurements between each recorded point.

Exterior wise they only need to scan 1/2 the car as they just mirror the image for the other side. Interior wise they must scan the complete interior. Once the scanning is done they then take hundreds of photographs of the car to capture colors, textures, glass, etc for reference as to how the car should look.

I'm sure the scanning process can be described in much better detail than what I've said but I'm sure you're following along.

Carroll was in the office that day and seemed pleased that one of his Dodge cars was going into such a popular video game as X-Box's Forza game. I was able to snap a photo of Carroll along with the MicroSoft folks standing next to the GLHS, that really made their day as they are Shelby enthusiasts.

Who would have guessed that almost 25 years later a Shelby Dodge would make it into a video game. I can feel the GLHS prices starting to skyrocket right now, unless the car gets entered into the game as a VolksWagen Rabbit

This was my first car i bought when I was 16

the GLH stands for.... Goes Like Hell. ( that's what my friends would say)

I hope they add it in forza 4......... for selfish reasons, of course

Love it! This is one of the reasons I"ve convinced my wife to buy me an xbox and FM4 for Christmas. Not the GLHS per se, but just the fact that Turn 10 would be working on adding an American Frankenstein econobox turbo hot-hatch from the '80's to the game post-release... now that's awesome.

Except, it isn't the only car that didn't make it into the game from the final poll.

The '74 Ford Escort 1600 didn't make it, the '81 VW Scirocco S didn't make it from the final round into the game...the '88 Pontiac Fiero didn't make it...the '93 GMX Typhoon didn't make it...
Chances are looking pretty good for the Shelby now.
