Im trying to win the Sport Truck races with the Dodge Ram was given. I've given it a fully customisable transmission and played about with the gear settings but cannot get it higher than around 140 mph on Daytona. Theres nothing wrong with the engine in the maintenance section although I did have to fix the rigidity. Anyone else have this problem? Is it doomed?

It is the following specs...

Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie Hemi

Weight Reduction 1
Window replacement
Engine Tune 1
ECU
Racing Filter
Intake Manifold
Sports Exhaust
Exhaust Manifold
Cat converter
Full Cust Transmission
twin plate clutch
semi racing flywheel
carbon prop
Torque Dist Centre Diff
Sports Tyres hard.

It has 447 BHP and like I said, Ive tried various gear ratios and it still wont exceed 140 MPH (roughly)

Any ideas? Is this a bug?

How much does it weigh? Those pickups are also really un-aerodynamic. I used the SVT Lightning for that with stage 3 lightning, ~589 HP, and the highest I got it to was around 280 kmh.

It weighs 2141 Kg which is heavy, but all the cars in the truck competition surely are? I'll do the full weight reduction and see what happens.

Ok, I've done weight reduction stg 3 and tested it on the Daytona track. It gets up into 6th gear and just hovers under the 5500 rpm mark and wont exceed 145 mph. Argh.

Anyone know why? I just want to finish the bloody Amateur stage. Grr

It's because it's as aerodynamic as the Pentagon. The grill alone is bigger than the frontal area of almost any other car in the game - it'll need a damn sight more than 450hp to reach any sensible speeds for an oval.

You gonna have a hard time finishing this series with the ram, I tried with it too but couldnt finish it. Waited for another truck to show up so I could did this, was really easy after.

With suitable gearing and full weight reduction I got the Toyota up to about 180 mph so the Ram ought to be capable of getting near that as I presume it has more power.

You wasted your money on that truck. The Tacoma or Lightning are much better options. I was able to win the Truck races with a stock Lighnting I picked up in the used dealership. On Daytona by itself the truck maxed out around 148 but when drafting hit 165mph.

Of course, for B-Spec Bob to win I had to mod the hell out of the truck:grumpy:

Is this A spec or B spec, if it's A spec then change the tyres as sports hard will be slowing you down in the corners, at least uprate them to sports soft.

Top speed, well it's very heavy and not very aerodynamic, what tracks are you having to race on and how much are you loosing by??

Also, what speeds have you set the gearbox too??

As mentioned above, the less weight the better, but also check settings, there is a power graph there, where is peak power and torque, make sure the engine is peaking at higher revs, if it's not then when you do get to higher revs you will be loosing power and this will slow you down at high speed, especially in a vehcle like this.

But alot more power would be a major help aswell, especially at higher rpm.

I tried changing the setup etc.. forget about the RAM honestly but if you find a winning setup pls contact me, I would be amazed to try it. Tried lots of things but coudlnt manage a win with the RAM.

You can - and he did - win it from the licences.

My Bob won in the Ram on only level five. Stock except for the 700hp it was packing.

^ah, i didn't see (or forgot) that he won the Ram. Even still, a used lightning is only 26k or so.

700hp? lol I jacked my lightning up to 500 to get Bob to win at Daytona. I found it very odd that no matter how much power the truck had he still wouldn't increase his top speed (and yeah it has the full customized gearbox).

Buy more Weight Reduction, and more Engine Tuning. Both to stage 3, you will have far more hp per kilogram, which makes your dodge accelerate faster and go faster at the end.

Adding a racing suspension helps a lot. I noticed it did not reach as high speeds but it was faster, maybe because Bob did not have to brake at the curves.

I recommend trying the suspension before any other upgrades.

It's because the Ram has that huge gob at the front - it'd eat an F150 or Tacoma.

My Bob was very reluctant to push the Ram up to anything like oval speed, even with 700hp. He'd still brake for the banking. The numb dolt.

Only way to avoid that is to spam the overtake/increase pace button. I got through this event with a level 7 Bob and I did Laguna Seca on my 2nd try (but first completion of the event).

He did Laguna without a hitch.

Whoops, a fail on my part assuming that. He did Daytona with those buttons for me as well. I never tried re-doing the event since I beat it. I wonder what would happen now when all of my Bobs are near lvl 30.

Sorry guys, a bit of an update.

I was trying to do it with my B-spec driver and he was failing. Mainly beacuse he is frankly terrible at offensive and defensive moves, which is a bit of a problem with drafting!

I managed, just, to do it myself in A-spec, with the 145 mph speed limit. Though the Tacoma's needed some (illegal) blocking moves to win.

As the guy said, it wasn't a problem around Laguna Seca.

I guess, when I've got the money I'll boost the BHP up a bit more on the RAM for Bob to complete Amateur mode.

Thanks for your help everyone. Lesson learnt, B-spec drivers are rubbish test drivers!

So this Dodge Ram. . . Its maxed on power? Its as light as it can be? Its lowered to the floor? And its power distribution is 50/50 right? On top of that its been geared to up to at least 186mph? And it won't go over 140?
