Does Anyone Else Consider These "Hybrid" Cars Cheating?

Do You Think using the "Hybrid" Cars is Considered Cheating?

I agree it's all cheating. IMHO: it's odd that this series is so famous for being "the driving simulator" and PD and Sony have done nothing to control the hacks because they're popular.

It's really impacted my enthusiasm for the game. Why race against somebody in a 511pp 125 Kart if they can bump there's up to 550pp? And how will I ever know?

I enjoy doing stupid stuff like making all my cars look like they're from the same garage. I can do that in game xxxx but in "the real driving simulator" that's always been considered childish and immature. But a 6700HP Corvette is apparently OK?

It's cheating, but is it bad cheating? You state that option as if it's only a negative thing.

How could cheating in a multiplayer environment ever be 'good'? If everyone agrees to the mods in the room it's not really cheating. If one person is doing it and nobody else knows/is, it's 'bad' cheating.

I don't like the hybrid cars, but I don't have a problem with people using them in a fun lobby designed for them. Anyone who uses a hybrid in any legitimate lobby, (whether it be a drag lobby, or a race lobby,) is a huge cheater. However, I think it's okay for people to have separate hybrid lobbies.

That being said, I still don't like the cars, and won't ever join the hybrid lobbies. I also think that they don't belong in GT5 and PD needs to patch them. GT5 is a simulation racer and you can replicate these hybrid cars in real life. (A reason why I don't like the X1; it's not real.) I don't think it's simple for PD to find the hybrid users in the first place unless they are caught using them.

While I don't like the hybrids, I have no problem with people messing around with them as long as they don't enter legitimate lobbies. It's a game, it's supposed be fun, and if hybrids are some peoples idea of fun, then let them have their fun as long as they keep it separate from the rest of us non-hybrid users. (Until they hopefully get patched that is, then we can move on from this nonsense.)

Which is 14,600,244% different from being realistic, which the X1 and many modded cars are.

Also, cheating is always bad, by definition. But not conforming to PD's game design isn't cheating.

While PD has not done anything yet, that does not mean they are allowing anything and I doubt popularity has anything to do with it or we'd still have GT-R's on 200 lap SSR7's. How long did that take to fix? And X1 Nurburgring?

I see you point, a good point, but this isn't something that they can fix so quickly as people are actually going into the game's coding and changing it rather then finding errors left by Polyphony.

They can get into the saves, not the disk. Checking vs the disk should solve everything.

Even then, if the checks are based on host files, any who has not modified the game would be able to keep out modded saves and modded disks (and hosts with modded files would banish themselves from anyone without the exact same file system unless not all files are checked).

I was talking about the saves...? I thought the saves were almost on par in content as the disk. I learn something everyday.

And then the game can return to being as dull and boring as it was before. Honestly, I hope this "problem" never gets fixed. Just my opinion.

Agreed. I may not have the hybrids, but if others enjoy having them there is no reason to ditch them, just because some others don't like them IMO. I actually like seeing them in free run rooms anyway.

Fine with it as long as it stays in cruise/fun/chill servers. Once it becomes a problem with time trials and drift trials, that's when $@%* hits the fan. Also find them interesting for hellaflush/stances cars

Do you think the new time trials using "locked" cars is a reaction from PD to the hacks? Do they know people are winning time trials and GT Academy events using hacks?

Of course its cheating. Anyone who claims differently is on another planet.

It breaks the pp rating, gives you an advantage over non cheaters.

It might make it more fun
.for you..like wall hacks make it more fun for the hacker in cod..

Not every case is that of "an advantage over non cheaters." What planet are you from?

Do they know people are winning time trials and GT Academy events using hacks?

Other then GT Academy, of course they know.

I have been on the hybrid threads for the past couple months "aggravating everyone"(NOT) about the use of hybrids on GT5. I have been censored for my opinions, and have not had very much support for my opinion or even very much agreement with my concerns. The reason I have expressed my opinion so strongly is because I do not think that it is good for the GT5 platform, and could very well destroy it. Hacking the other GT games has nothing to do with GT5 because there was no online play, so history has nothing to do with any justification for hacking GT5. That being said, I also can see that there nothing wrong with the practice as long as the cars cannot be used for online play. I also think that it would be Ok as long as those cars could not be traded, gifted, or shared. I can see those two options being the only way cheating could be eliminated. If, individually someone wants to hack their game I dont see any problems. If they cant figure out how to hack then they would be SOL. I would like to hope that most would not used hacked cars during online play, but with the amount of cars that are being spread around, problems are sure to arise. I do not think that PD cares enough about GT5 with GT6 coning around the bend to do anything about it. We can only hope that PD Locks down GT6 to where hacking will not be a problem for online play.

Of course.
This is for playeres dont like normal playing and achive goals.

Actually no.... Me I have completed GT5 A-Spec 100% legit seven different times on seven different PSN accounts. I have done the 24 hour endurance races in one day. My current record is just over 26 hours straight through with a stock 787B. I still plan to do it for the 8th time.

I do enjoy hybrid cars after i decided to try them (mine are realistic and not ridiculous). I know when it is okay to use my hybrid cars and when not to. Mainly my hybrids are drift cars anyway so pretty much they are used for that only.

I was very vocal against hybrids had I answered this yesterday I would have thrown a rant about the legality and tos etc.

But in the spirit of keeping an open mind I tried it out and if the car I tried is anything to go by it would open the door to other cars competing against other non hybrids on a even field I will be looking into this more.

I wish I could rescind my vote because I made it before I knew the full story. As far as single player goes, you can't cheat a challenge with no limitations on it. That's always been GT's "flaw" in that the challenges are easy because you can use super powered cars to win. Also, to each his own. If someone wants to cheat through the single player, who else cares?

As for online, the PP system keeps everything in check. Hybrids might allow you to build a better version of a car, but whether it will be a dominant car at a given PP level is another matter.

There is an ASSUMPTION that the hybrids allow you to break the system. I guarantee (because I have done it) that unless I tell you I have a hybrid, you would not know. In some cases, if you have a keen knowledge of the cars in the game, you might be able to spot the hybrid. I've driven the hybrids against regular cars and I've driven my regular cars against the hybrids. No matter what, it comes down to the player and the tune on the car.

Oh, and one thing that might be assumed is that a race chassis automatically gives your car downforce. If you put any part on a car, the part first inherits the current values. So, if you put a race chassis on a street car that has no downforce, you will gain the ability to add downforce as with any other race car but you will start off having no downforce just as before.

If you mess with the downforce settings, and try to add some, you will take a significant hit on PP.

there is a difference between "hybrid" cars and hacked cars in my opinion. Hybrids are a lot of fun, I have tried several, including a RWD Mini Cooper, which is my personal favorite car.
