Hi All, Very new to the drifting scene in GT5 and found myself drifting the Evo VIII GSR (from used dealership). Seem to be having moments of brilliance but still need more tuning on the setup. So anyone who has this Evo, please drop me a reply, and likewise anyone with drifting tips would be much appreciated.

drop the evo and get something rear wheel drive asap

Lets see 4wd is better in real life drifting
But in gt5 it get hated by everyone but its more fun to drift with just use CH tyres and 25% front wheel and 75% rear wheel and i hope i helped you

:odd: smh.

RWD will always be better for drifting, real life or GT5.

Also, get the torque right 10/90 not 25/75

What he said.

Don't use the Handbrake to drift the car. Not good. Just sway the car from one side to the other

Seriously... ignore this.

You really are out of your mind...

Unless you like getting kicked out of lobby's with your 4WD awesomeness then stick to it. But if you wanna be cool unlike Block Ken then use a RWD. Best car for starting out is a S13 with no power mods just a FC LSD.

Meanwhile, in a fair and positive world...

I'd say torque balance 10/90, rear LSD at 40/5/anything, front LSD at 5/60/anything also you may want to increase the car's power slightly. Using comfort tyres will also help you drift well with the Evo VIII GSR

Another word of advice would be not to listen to AWD haters, if the Evo is what you want to drift then go ahead; don't let people's opinions shake you, peace. :)

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot....you two can't be serious......

@JBanton: At least learn to tune a AWD to get it as close to RWD as possible, use 5/5/5 front in LSD.

And if telling the truth makes us AWD haters, then so be it. RWD will always be better for drifting.

So you do tune AWD drift cars then???

Who are you to judge my tuning skills?, it works for me, if you think it's wrong then that's your problem...

jonny go play in the 4wd lobby and keep thinking you are drifting and leave comments in there cause RWD is all the teams use with comfort hards

I use those too, but I see nothing wrong with using an AWD, this thread was created to help a guy wanting to drift an Evo so I tried, why people feel the need to descend on it and start spraying their negativity, instead of helping is beyond me.

I'm done here.

No I don't tune AWD cars, it's a waste of time to do it, but at least I know how to tune them to get the best of them & get them as close to RWD as possible. You are using 5/60 which means your front wheels accelerate when you give gas which is the most stupid thing for a "drift" car. Accept the truth, RWD reigns supreme.

Because it's the Internet. :sly:

People hate on AWD all the time; that's just the way it is, unfortunately.

You'll get kicked out of lobbies all the time but who cares? It's just a game, after all. Plus offline drifting is more fun than online because you don't have people badmouthing your style of drifting the whole time.

@OP just drift with whatever you feel comfortable in, however most if not all drift teams use Rear Wheel Drive cars as they are usually the best for drifting.

Also, I suggest not using the handbrake all the time to initiate the drift try using the clutch or make the car slide.

I'm currently learning to drift in an Sprinter Trueno GT-Apex '83 and I think I'm doing ok (I can hold a drift round that hairpin at Tsubuku).

I agree with JBantom

Nothing wrong with using FR and 4WD , I' just try to have fun :)

Online I only use FR because some people don't tolerate 4wd :( .

What I don't tolerate is the use of any tires except CM , CH.

P.s. The red evo in Tokyo drift was RWD covered... Trust me on that

True, I saw the special features & they said it's a RWD converted, drift tuned EVO.

Look at it this way, all the Subarus, EVO, Skylines that have been on D1GP, RWD converted. The two Scion tCs that are on Formula Drift, RWD converted. Just saying...
