1.2 million trees and 50 cars. Hmmmmm

Edit: You know what, I'm actually glad the car list isn't massive. It should mean that each car is lovingly created and that the rest of the game is as-developed as those 1.2 million trees.

One thing is that the article claims 250,000 polygons per car. That seems awfully low. I mean GT5 was 300k in races and much more in photomode. I'm pretty sure FM5 is considerably higher than that.

Someone needs to tell Evolution Studios that they need to kill a few darlings. Like the 19 000 pink flamingos

I'm sure it'll look spectacular though. It's just, shouldn't you be keeping your eyes on the road?

Saw a gamepsot preview and they said it was an arcade racer.

Driveclub could be seen as the spiritual successor to the Project Gotham Racing series, so it doesn't surprise me it is classed an an arcade racing game. What would be ideal is some authenticity in the physics model and every car having a unique character, which is what made the PGR series so popular among both the casuals and die-hard racing fans.

I thought it was obvious that this was an arcade game since the very first reveal...
None the less, the recent news about it has me excited for it. Between this and Project Cars, racing fans are in for a treat this year.

I played it last year at a few different conventions and I definitely got simcade feels from it. It kinda reminded me of Need for Speed: The Run's handling, if a tiny bit more sim like. You can't just drift around corners, but you don't need to be perfect with your braking.

I think it's that since they recently fine-tuned the handling to allow a more "pick-up-and-play" feel, it's got people like me worried. Hopefully the handling offers a decent challenge and actually makes a drift feel good and not doing it at 150mph laughing my 🤬 off around the corners.

Even with a low bitrate stream it looks really good.
I doubt the can move that thing real time with PS4 hardware and decent frame rate.
That rain looks next next gen.
They will probably use a simplified rain for the final game and complex rain for trailers and pics.

One little thing I caught from that livestream was that some cars can only be unlocked through clubs. Now this is fine with me if I can create my own one-man-club offline and unlock it anyway. However, if it requires multiple members and online play, then I may not feel as compelled to get this title.

I was referring to the gameplay on twitch above. It's a crappy internet stream but it's real gameplay in realtime and it looks great.
