^^ Perhaps it's something they might want to consider in future either through DLC or a fresh game like perhaps Track Club or Circuit Club. :D

The market for circuit racing games is quite big indeed... we might get a track-focused Drive Club game, but it seems unlikely at the moment. From what I know, the devs are squarely focused on bringing the night/day, weather road driving experience to the PS4.
I expect Sony wants them to differentiate from GT7.... And don't forget they are now releasing at the same time as pCARS (track focus, PC and both consoles) and Forza Horizon 2 (open world, competitor console). It makes a lot of sense for Driveclub to be the kind of pretty driving game which can compete with Horizon 2 on visuals.

Absolutely, you're on the money. And from what I've seen in vids, it can easily stay neck to neck with H2, maybe even surpass it in certain aspects. Looking forward to reviews.

Can't say for sure - probably won't be able to get a current gen box anytime soon.

And I agree, it's almost as if they're paying good money for reviewers to be biased for or against any given game.

I can't pinpoint what it is, but for such a magnificent looking game...it just looks boring.:indiff:
Yeah, I know what you mean. There's a real danger that such meandering tracks will quickly become boring once you've run them a few times. Unlike purpose-built circuits there will never be any real desire to learn ideal lines through corners or suchlike...

But I will say that the feeling of driving through the world is magnificent with those vast viewing distances (see distant hillside, drive towards it), so as an experience (and as a demonstration of the power of the console) it looks awesome. I might just get it despite the lack of content to simply enjoy the vistas. :S

I agree. I have this strong feeling that saids DriveClub REALLY should have been a launch title, because it looks like it was made to be one, similar to NFS Rivals. The fact that DC doesn't have any body customzations other than pre-set liveries is what's also killing the interest many has for the game (except for the Sony fanboys). :\

Maybe is the lack of a soundtrack?

I mean, I do really like what I see, the scenarios look varied and rich, and the gameplay model seems to go from PGR to a bit of Forza 3 - ish simulation (even though I despite that driving model).

Having said that, having PSN+ gives me a bit of the benefit of the doubt and just test it out before release (and a huge investment as well), same thing happened with me and The Crew, all my interest sort of dried up when I played the beta, map was huge and it look really interesting only to find a rather dull (and thanks to Uplay) tedious experience.

What does that has to do with anything? a game doesn't become automatically better if you add customization to it, don't remember Burnout 3 being any less fun for not featuring any customization, same for PGR games and at some extent NFS Hot pursuit.

Having to dump resource in such features is idiotic in some instances, is better to just utilize those resources to expand the richness of the core experience.
...(except for the Sony fanboys). :\
Till it gets good reviews or people start to like it, then you will go 180º opinion flip mode, as you usually do, just a tip: it doesn't look good if you want to discuss things with other people who have clear what views they want to have, even if correct or wrong, to then switch sides once you see the wrong part of the argument and see yourself in the "winning" side, people will lose respect for what you see, until your opinion becomes meaningless.

So you're basically saying you have to be a Sony fanboy to like Drivelub?
No, that wasn't what I meant. I was just saying those who worship Sony and attack other consoles are likely to buy DC, even if it looks sort of boring (well too me).

Umm...Toko, what about those who have the PS4 and will be getting it because it's free on that console. It's on the console and free, so why wouldn't people be getting it?

You really do need to stop calling people fanboys.

EDIT: I wonder if the gameplay in the #2 vid is an indication that the AI will respond to dirty driving tactics with their own - or was that a MP session? I find it hard to tell with no HUD.

As to the comments about boredom, I think I'm going to be kept happy enough with trying for a clean run so I can have lots of fun with photomode, especially at night ;)

EDIT 2: Also, that Pelo character is a pretty dire driver, casually dirty too when he had the lines to keep it clean.

Watching those gameplay video's the bumps and crashes physics look like they are straight out of GT5

I think it's to do with the tracks imo they look like they are setup for the casual crowd rather than any serious racer, I keep seeing this game compared to PGR but that game had tremendous tracks/circuits this game seems to suffer greatly for being point to point rather than circuits.

Since when is DriveClub free? If you are refering to PS PLUS edition... It´s not the full game, it´s just a slight demonstration.

But I'm not calling anybody and those who has a PS4 fanboys though (even I have one). I think you're misunderstood what I meant. I only meant those who sticks with only the PS4. (the ones who don't intend to buy other consoles, are against them and won't support them period).

It's a bit more than a 'slight demonstration' - that would be a demo ;) but yeah, the PS+ edition. It's surely enough for anyone to make an informed decision.

Now I'm confused.

I however only have a PS4/3/2 and have no intention of getting an XBOne/360, as there are no games I really feel worthwhile getting on those consoles for me - I don't see that as being a Sony fanboy though.

Oh, well than I apologize if I haven't made it clearer (tried to make it clearer). I only mean those who think their consoles are better, and will go at the ends of the earth to trash the other consoles. Like how it is in the console wars pretty much.

I really need a break from this site like Samus...

Ah, okay - now I get you. Sorry, I'm on some pretty heavy pain meds right now, so I tend to miss some details.

There is never any shame in taking a break from here - I think quite a few of us have done that at some point or other and come back far more refreshed. The atmosphere here can become a bit stale with so many people breathing the same air...

Yahoo. :D You don't need to apologize, I should have been more clearer on what I've said. Yeah, I'm also planning to take a looooooong break from GTPlanet, but not just that though, as I dislike getting into arguments and feel others don't like me as much anymore.

You and others in my friends list here can feel free to chat with me on the PS3 anytime you like, and hit me up on GT6 too. :) I'm not sure how long I'll be gone from GTP, but when I get back, I'll PM you @MeanElf. Take care buddy. 👍

You too man. Judging by the replies I've seen, most of the people involved have been more concerned than anything else - take care, get on with that comic and see you out there

@Speedster911 The physics are definitely arcade. They seem to be more realistic than The Crew but definitely no where near GT or Forza so I don't think the game can be classified as a "simcade" either. I think you're looking at a full arcade experience here.

Well... drat!

I can't seem to enjoy these casual racing games for too long.

Still waiting for more games to show up on either console so as to decide which one to get. I'm neither too thrilled about about H2 or Drive Club.

Got my eyeballs set on FM6 vs GT7.

Comments I've seen imply a similar type of physics to Codemasters.

From my point of view, Codemasters physics are:
- Responsive control, without lag or floatiness
- overpowered brakes
- too high grip levels
- sometimes a tendency to unrealistic oversteer which can be easily controlled

The videos of people using a wheel with Driveclub look pretty decent, show the kind of properties I describe above.

Don't forget pCARS. That's definitely a proper sim.
