Seems to be a bit unfair that a few childish idiots have ruined it for the rest then really.
Couldn't agree more. I appreciate that a fair few people would like more in-depth options - I just think DC's isn't that bad, hence my original response.

It also precludes the inordinate amount of penises and breasts we'd see, or Evoloution would be forced to police for as a result.
Doesn't make sense, because having a voice chat or editor to name your club, could lead to penises and breast too. Introducing club, breasts. A teenager could use those words in the voice chat, too.

Yes, and in voice chat there is a report option too - same for club names. That's always been the case and that is something devs have had to deal with since online became an option. My guess is that they wish to limit that.

Folks, why are we focusing on just this aspect? You want a better livery editor, go talk to Evoloution Studios, because hanging around a forum pontificating (although that's probably the wrong word under the circumstances) about it will get you absolutely nowhere.

Ay the moment we're finding videos which imply the in game graphics are pretty rough in places, but then other videos which look to be in game but look amazing.

This one is clearly not the launch game (due to weather) but looks to be real time in game footage and looks superb:

So.... Are we seeing massive visual improvements in the weather post-release build due to arrive around Christmas, compared with the videos coming out of beta testing, or what?

Oh man, now I have to wait 3 more days :(
But, it only takes a minute when you do get it ;) Anyway, I have to wait another day on top of you. The game gets developed and made in the UK...but we're the last to get it. Damn PS store in the UK and it's old-fashioned ways - or should that be that the old-fashioned games release situation here...?

3 games after it gets released, can't you create an american account and download it there?

I suppose I could, but my wife has the PS+ account (she's a serious gamer) and I'm not about to pay another subscription for an account I will only use occasionally.

Good call otherwise though.

Yeah right, forgot you'd have to also need a plus sub. Never mind then.

Looks amazing, but I can't help but notice the rear tires seem to be missing. It's like the car is floating.

So does that post confirm rubber banding or not? Rubber banding was horrific in Motorstorm. You could drive the perfect race, but the AI would be right on your bumper no matter what all the time, and in the last corner if you made one mistake 3 or 4 guys would pass you.

Didnt the developer say there wouldnt be any rubber banding?

From the various gameplay videos that are out there, you can see some excessive rubberbanding going on. From easily catching up the field after a crash, to opponents blasting by on the straights while being in the same car.

From the InsideSimRacing run a few pages ago, I got the impression that the AI are something like the GT6 model, except for the field being a lot tighter in its grouping and ability to fight for a position. In other words, don't make too many stupid mistakes and you will win, but you'll have a fight on your hands for most of the way.

It's just between twenty-one and twenty-four hours to go for you folks in the US...(I think) - assuming you are doing the midnight download tonight.

This just gets worse and worse. If I drive really well I want to win. If I drive crap I deserve to lose. Rubber banding in any racing game is an absolute disgrace. I'm very quickly going off this game.

On a positive note: I think if they have put it in, it should be very easy to dumb it down in patches and make it less apparent.
I personally find that rubberbanding should not be in games altogether, but I see the point of developers adding it in more arcady games, to not frustrate kids when they crash out.

Ideally they should give you the option to disable it, simple as that.

Disabling is not so easy if you have achievements and leaderboards based around winning races.

But I've been watching plenty of videos and I'm still not sure how bad the rubberbanding is. If they just use it to tighten up the pack but it doesn't alter the finishing time required for placing 1st (or 3rd or 8th) in each race then it could be entirely beneficial.

I just can't agree with this. Any game that needs to use rubber banding for their AI needs to learn how to programme better AI.

I agree it does look amazing. The way the water gathers is just fabulous.

The SLS AMG Black Series has a deep rear bumper and reasonable rear overhang which will obscure the tyres when viewed from a higher camera angle like that. When the car slides about you is clear though.

So, those who have pre-ordered the full game in the US and EU can preload now. I didn't realise that a platinum was possible from the free version...
