And what shall we do with race 2 - Suzuka?

Just a warning doing 8 laps on Soft tires may not be that easy lol, you may have to 1.use a setup that has extremly good tire wear OR 2. Draft to save tires/driver slower OR 3. Do an extra pit.

No even tried mediums yet which have pretty similar wear to the softs :scared: could mean 4 pits if you can't make 8laps in those

Last race will be Suzuka next week. That will be the last race for atleast 3 weeks as i start my new job and hopefully move to a new house in the next couple of weeks. We will still have testing and loads to sort out before DTM VI.

1st (you know who)
2nd Goruk
3rd me
4th symp
5th pipi
6th JT

The tire wear update, puts a new dimension to pit windows, some went with 2 some with 3 and symp with 4 stops :) However it seems like immortal and pipi dislike it a lot.
Good race overall!

Cool, yeah those pit windows pushed the soft tires to their limit. You really had to look after them just to do 8-10laps.

I'm not a big fan of the tire wear but it is better than having soft tires that last the same amount of laps as hard tires.

Yeah they are a bit of a pain. Although they destroy the idea of the 3 compound rule by not allowing you to run them in the middle sector, they open the door for free tyre choice in DTM VI. The tyre wear will affect the no. of stops you want to make and so we dont need complicated (for some) pit window and compound rules. Just free choice: Hards; slower, less stops. Softs; faster, more stops. Meds; middle speed, middle stops...

Quite a good race. A few battles out on track. Dont know where pilot gets allthe extra speed from (well i do but nevermind). Hopefully next season we can have a closer battle for 1st without tuning. DTM VI: all about the driving...

Yes,
Was a really good race.
Lets drive next Sasion with Garages Cars then the best Driver win.
But i dont make much in the setups to be honest.

I have test Yesterday before the Race.
BMW M3, Mercedes CLK and Opel Astra.
BMW M3 and Opel Astra are alomost same from lap times.
But the M3 is a bit difficult to drive.
The CLK was 3-4 tenths faster then the both other.
But on Tracks like Susuka the CLK is much faster because he is verry good in corners not so good topespeed but good in Corners.
Have anybody for me the a4 and tt??? then i can say the speed from the both cars.
The A4 seems to me like the NSX in gt500 heavy topespeed but not so good in Coners.
And how is the tt??

I found A4 understeered alot and was normally like half a second slower round most tracks. TT-r I've not drove in awhile but from what I remember its not got good top speed but very good in corners.

You can't send these cars or I would send you them.

Also JT how is no tuning going to work ?

^working on it....

Me and symp had a bit of a test after therace last night. Trying (again) to get the alfa and 190e involved. Could see the BHP return at a much lower level. Maybe even two ways to compete, tuned ('90s DTM) and untuned (modern DTM). Still in progress though. Will have testing session tonight if any one wants some practice.

But i didn't understand why i could have overtook alot on the straight with alot of power , but than nobody couldn't overtake me on the straight. weird. it was like i had more power. and my tyre degredation was very high. :P i did like 5 pitstops only Tire : Hard helped alot.

I'm just going to have a go driving these cars stock, but looking at the stock car specs they are quite different which could be a problem. CLK has 40/65 DF and the rest have 20/45, as the only thing you can change is BHP by using limiter clk may have to have its power reduced alot.

^ that's why I though it would be best to adjust the power limiter for each car so they have the same PP's, not BHP's. A-Brick did a test with that a few weeks ago and the cars were still a bit different. Might be track related. Also the new tire wear feature can cause a difference. Maybe the extra downforce of the CLK will be compensated by more wear... It should be tested more thoroughly I guess.

However, we compared an upgraded 190 and a stock CLK yesterday and found out that the 190 performed way better if they have the same PP's. But with the same BHP's the CLK is faster. Maybe a fully tuned 190 can be the same as a stock CLK. Have to find that out.

Would be great if we can combine these two in one championship. The 'old' DTM cars for the tuners and the new DTM cars for the people with work, kids, family and no interest or time for tuning...

Numbers we looked at were:
404bhp untuned for Modern DTM / 404bhp tuned (add turbo) for '90s DTM.
374bhp for every car untuned.
We only tested the CLK (supposed best) vs 190E (supposed worst).
Results inconclusive as it was late and we kept making mistakes. But it wasnt too bad.

But would it not be unfair to have some people tuning for a specific track and others using the defaulf setup for all the races? Maybe better having 2 classes if you really wanted to get those cars involved.

Personally If spec racing is the way we're going next season I would just use the premium cars different one for each race. That way no testing needed, people can show up 30mins before race do some practice laps and still do ok, can change the car colour so it's not just 16 clk's, everyone has same car so it's really down to the drivers. Drawback we don't get to drive the Touring Cars :(

Also I drove all the stock DTM cars CLK - feels great to drive with extra df which made it over 1sec quicker than the rest. Audi TT-R also felt good to drive , Audi A4 - very slow , ok default setup although a bit unpredictable, Astra - really don't like defualt setup :(, M3 - pretty slow and as always the backend likes to wander off on the exit of corners.

Could maybe limit BHP to slow the cars down so they produce times similar to M3 and A4 as they are the slowest cars. But not sure tbh

Yes that the best when we drive all the same Car from the Garage.
One Race all CLK one Race all Astra

Im just brain storming at the moment so havent really thought through what i am about to say...
what about free choice of the 8 DTM cars in every race. Cars will be ranked in order from best (0) to worst (7). The number is the number of bonus points you get for using that car. So if you think you can finish high in a 190E or an alfa then you can choose that car knowing it is not as quick as a CLK or TTR. But your overall score for that round might end up being higher. Car rankings (and therefore bonus points) will change as the series goes on using the constructors table as a guide. Like i said, straight out my head so go easy.

It may be alot of work testing each car at each track to make sure the car rankings are correct. Also if we don't get a full grid of people leave during the race it could mean easy points for people in the worst cars. It may be a better idea for the special stage.

I feel like I'm being negative all the time lol I don't mean to be. I just think we should be trying to make the racing closer.

Ps with Tony using the CLK for the season no one will challange him head on with a clk they will just choose slower cars and try get bouns points if you know what I mean.
