Hey there guys, hope all of you had a good new year party, anyway, I won't be able to race tomorrow, my fader's birthday with all the family dinner.

Final race of DTM V
(postponed 2nd race)

DTM5_Race_2.jpg

So who's joining us tonight and be part of the final race of the 5th season of the GT5 DTM Series Championships?

I'd like to race but with revision for my upcoming A-level exams, this one will have to pass. By the start of DTM 6 I will of done the exams and will be back and racing then.

For the DTM 6 maybe we could go for Japanese touring cars aswell as German touring cars that would be quite good

Well Done to the New Champion Immortalpilot :D you truly are one of the Fastest drivers on GTP great job 👍

I had a great race tonight mainly becuase I had the best strategy ;), while practicing for this I worked out it would be faster just to stay on soft tires for as long as possible. So I did 7 laps on Medium 7 on hard and did 17 laps over 3 stints on softs which seem to pay off big time. Ended up about 40seconds ahead  anyway looking forward to seeing whats instore next season.

Great Racing Everyone

Thanks Green.
I have like always Susuka but after the tyre wear update i dont like Susuka more.

yeah the tire wear was crazy after 5 laps on softs they were very slow even hards wore quickly after 10 laps they were pretty much useless. I actually turned my ABS upto to 10 to stop the front tires wearing as quickly, this allowed me to change my brake bias to crazy settings during the race without changing the braking distance too much.

At one point I one running 1/7 brake bias to stop the brakes wearing the front tires and keep everything equal. Normally I wouldn't run ABS and more than 1 but I found since the update if your racing on racing tires you need to look after them to get the best out of them.

Hopefully they extend the life of the racing tires in future updates as they wear to quickly.

Hi, can I sign in in this tournament with the Mercedes CLK? I'm in the +1 GMT (I'm Italian), could that thing making troubles? Thanks :)

This season has just finished there will be a new season in 3 to 4 weeks I think. I'm sure you will be more than welcome to sign up for that here is the link for the interest thread - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=235644 feel free to make any suggestion about the new season.
I'm not sure if sign-up's are open for DTM VI now or JT is going to wait until everything is inplace for season VI.

Result Race 2 - Suzuka Circuit

Anastatis: DQF
Made a mistake during the pit stop after lap 24. Instead of changing to Meds he stayed on Softs. According to the rules he was allowed to correct that error without receiving any time penalty or disqualification but he decided to quit from the race. Too bad because he was in 6th position at that time with a gap of about 60 secs from the 7th position. A pity because it would have made the race for those in the back a little bit more interesting at that time :indiff:

SymP_4000: DQF
Yeah, that’s me... My race started with a lot of problems. Two times a black screen on race start but thanks to the patience of my fellow drivers (👍) I was given the time to restart my PS3 and rejoin the lobby for the 3rd countdown.

However, during that countdown I was pointed at the fact that I was on Softs. Thanks for that anastatsis! 👍 Otherwise I probably would have thought that I had an exceptionally well batch of Hard tyres and wouldn’t have used all compounds during the race. Unfortunately, I had to let the multiple pit stop strategy go now. I was aiming for 3 stints on Softs from lap 7 till 24.

But it all went wrong anyway in the last laps before the 2nd pit window. My rear tyres were on 0% in lap 18 and I had to make another lap to reach the window. So I had no choice to enter the pits early and accept a 30 secs time penalty. However, because of that late decision and no rubber on my tyres I totally missed the pit entry and had to drive back a bit. Very bad! :banghead:

So if I add that all up and also being a race steward I cannot let this go and have decided to disqualify myself. :odd:

IMMORTALPILOT: DQF
IMMORTALPILOT already mentioned that he didn’t like Suzuka with the new tyre wear update. That’s probably why he decided to go back to Softs in lap 12 after he changed to Meds earlier in lap 7. I don’t know if the Hards/Softs combination in lap 27 was planned but it doesn’t matter anyway. He still is the champion of DTM V! 👍

Tyre strategy
To see how different the new tyre wear was handled by everybody here’s a table with all the pit stops. It shows that there are several ways now to get to the finish and I guess it also depends on the track to decide which strategy is the best.

We don’t need the pit windows anymore to make it interesting!

I know right it just goes to show how many pit stops we will have to make next season we race

I think next season will be 2 short races or something, I don't think the pit windows will remain the way they are unless PD change the tire wear again. But then again nothing has been decided for next season so who knows

2 Races is good, but if we can't make the cars equal we can back to DTM4 rules, for me the best and disputed Champ :sly:

So the end of another season in the DTM. Congratulations to our champion ImmortalPilot/tony kart. A great performance and a perfect score of 75 points. The only shock was that he didnt win in Suzuka. I think he will be the one to beat from now on. Good to see Green back to winning ways again. Our double champ will be amoungst the challengers for DTM VI for sure.

For me its been another frustrating season at the back of the grid. A mix of having the A4, poor tuning, not having a wheel..... and just not being very good...meant i hardly saw anyone else in the races nevermind race them. Im hoping that the setup for next season means i will have someone to race at the back for last place....

As you might have noticed, Symp has been doing a lot (nearly everything) for the DTM over the past 2 or 3 months. This is manly due to me not having as much time as i would like to focus on the series. So i hand over the running of the DTM series to him starting with DTM VI. I know we our in good hands with him as everyone can see from the recent updates. I will still be around to help when i can but i think Symp will take the series forward.

This one was still missing :)

I was pointed by JT at a rule change this season that the 5 best results of ALL races, including the Special Stage, count towards the championship. So I updated the standing. No major changes except that anastasis and me changed places. Sorry anas! :D

DTM V closed! Let's move on to the next season
