Is it me, or are these cars more powerful than our current cars? They seem to rather edgy and look more "on it" than the modern cars ever had been.

They were twice as powerful (almost) but less advanced chassis and tyre tech means they'll have been slower in the turns. Lap times wise, i'd imagine they be similar.

No, it's all still there:

How is this blocking? James obviously chooses a different line, he tries to give him the space, not knowing Jordan picked the same line. A bit sad this had to start a tweet rage..

Correct, while his racing line is on to the curbs. So if Jordan kept on his racing line, he wouldn't almost kiss the back of James' car..

Group A

4 classes of racing. The touring cars we see today are an evolution of Class B, in a sense.

James wasn't even on a quick lap, it was probably a slowing down lap - he was 150 yards ahead of him as Jordan exited Paddock Hill and he took a wide outside line at Druids. It has nothing to do with taking different lines through corners, a driver not on a 'hot lap' should be keeping well out of the way of drivers who obviously are.

Ah okay. That changes the situation. Having only seen the video posted above, it looked like they were both on fast pace.. Still not a good reason to go nuts on Twitter though :yuck::ouch:

I don't think it was caught on TV either.

Looking at this image, i'd say that it's swapped ends and reversed itself into the tyre wall, pirouetted onto it's nose and rolled onto it's roof. It's not a quick section of the track, so it was probably unfortunate to land that way rather than spectacular. Still, glad it wasn't me all the same.

After a quick youtube search I found these two vids from spectators.

Neither get the original slide, but they get him hitting the barrier and flipping.

Good finds!!
My video isn't half as clear as this ones!
Professional shaky cam! haha

Great vids, I was on the inside of GHBend, about 30-40 yds down from the Ice Cream van and typically looking in a different place, until my wife pointed out there was a Beemer rubber side up!!
Thanks again for the links

Good weekend of racing, full of plenty of surprises, will we see Matt Neal's Honda with similar issues in the coming weeks?

Disappointed for Chris James that he couldn't make full use of the speed in the Vectra, but some great racing in all the classes. Donington next, always good for racing.

Saw the race again when it was shown by ITV4 (or 3, I can never remember which one).

Wow, Plato was a bit of a dick really with his bully boy tactics.

I now understand why there were so much discussion on this thread about him. Matt Neal also did push Plato off in the third race, but that was only after Plato also punted him first!

With regards to Plato basically T-boning another competitor, Plato should have really backed off a bit and then gone for the overtake on the other bend as his move was never really going to happen unless Plato went off-roading. Was kinda disappointing seeing the standard of racing dropping off quite a bit though.

Hopefully Donington Park will be better and not so bish-bash-bosh style!

That BMW was fast! Bad for Lea Wood at start...
Plato going to get shunted off soon surely, mobile roadblock to Honda and Jackson.

Jackson with an unclean pass to take the lead. He used Plato's MG as brakes.

Probably not, but those are not the sort of passing maneuvers I like seeing.

That was moronic at the final chicane. Even more moronic than Jackson's move on Potato.

But not unexpected. And yes, was a bit ticked off about Jackson, not least because his move on Plato also shoved Collard several places down.

Wrathall and Collard on the other hand were excellent. Two clean racers, racing cleanly.

And Tim and Toby lap up the body contact and shoving like it's a good thing. Although I think that's just because they aren't allowed to spend the whole race slagging off the driving standards of 90% of the field.

Its touring cars - a bit of body contact happens, what sometimes makes it exciting 👍

If you go back a few pages there was a discussion on driving standards. I'm referring to the dirty maneuvers and shove-to-overtake mentalities and not simply swapping paint.
