Duping DLC paints

Wow, so much work, only to paint a car...

Seems like it´s even easier in real life :dopey:

LMAO,

@ pasigiri

I totally agree with you and honestly, from the 100 paints, there are 30/40 good. I mean.. 10 solid gray colours, 10 solid navy colours, 10 solid old style colours ( from old cars ) we all have these paints already.... come on. And there are two like silver and gold chrome (X_x)

... PD has GOT to fix this. I just can't understand why we just can't use paint chips infinite times. We already have to pay (in game) to paint a car or set of wheels.

Money making BS is what it is. The whole system of this new DLC for GT5 is restrictive. If you've paid for something why not have the freedom to use it how you wish on your own PS3 system, they're addressing this in December but how short-sighted of them to not see it as a problem. Do they seriously expect you to pay for the paint pack all over again just because you used 1 paint out of the pack?? If they want to operate like that wouldn't it be a better idea to put the individual paint colours and types up on the PSstore to buy??

Yes, that would of course be a problem.

But, if you BADLY want a car in a certain colour.... then yes, you would have to spend 10 days sending yourself back the cars. (20 days infact, one day to send, next day to send back.)

Basically, this paint system is stupid and needs to be sorted out. But there we go, no point in endlessly moaning eh 👍

Uh who was moaning? Most folks agree the paints you pay for shouldn't be one-use only, and this way if you can bear to wait 1 whole day, you can paint the car you want, and still have the chip for another car later. It's really not that hard to do this in arguably the same time it would take to buy the chips again, and at no cost.

It takes just a few mins on day 1 and day 2 if you have a second account. If you want to keep paying for multiple downloads of the same chips though because this method seems a big effort, be my guest, but some of us would prefer to do this. That OK with you? ;)

That's right. But let's say there's a guy who just love to paint 10 of his cars in the same color, but the color is a "one use only". What would you do?

Sending 10 days in a row a repainted car to your other account (for free) or spending £15.90 on "digital" paints to get the job done? :dunce:

I have to agree, it's stupid to get the same 100 paints each time, most of which you don't even want, and only 1 each of the paints you do want. Buying the paints you want simply is too costly. If you were able to pick your own 100 colors from the selection for that price, it really wouldn't be all that bad (but I think I've said that all before ).

Are things really that bad for some of you that you cannot afford a small fee.

I don't see where buying the paints I want equates to a small fee. In fact, it's multiple times the cost of the full game! How's that considered a small fee?

Can you paint car and rims with the same DLC paint?
I sometimes like to color match them.

Wow this thread has been brought back from the dead.

Yes you can.
Paint the car you want in the DLC paint colour that you want.
Send that car to your 2nd account.
Back up game save data.
Send car back to main account and paint your wheels in the same colour.
Simple.

Yes, that'll work. Though it may be simpler (not cheaper) to buy a second paint pack. At least that's what I did. This way, you can just paint the car, and send it off to the intended recipient.

Thanks for the info. Was afraid that would be the case.
I found the paint add on. But can't seem to find the bundle with cars, tracks and the paint. The deal with all 3.
Would you know where I should be looking?

This seems like a lot of work to save a couple of bucks. My time is more valuable then that.

Spend the money. Keep PD going.

All that to dupe 1 paint a day, I would sooner pay for another 100 when i need them.

this, although it feels as though it should be easier to get any paint colour I want. I mean in real life, it isn't that hard to find paint to respray my car (although granted, respraying the car is quite a big job!)

I'm wondering if the last patch put an end to this or not?

I just traded a car to get its paint chip but It didn't show up. It was just paint from a hard to find standard. It was a painted RUF 3400, I know they dont come with paint chips to begin with but this one had been painted.

So maybe it was the car that caused it to not work. Does anyone know whats up?

When you send a car that has been repainted, the person that receives the car gets the car's original color paint chip even though the car will have the new paint job. The RUF cars do not have a paint chip, so no chip is received.

Ok that would explain it.

That car must simply not work for this, I'm guessing.

If it was just a couple of bucks. For what I've saved so far, I could probably have bought the entire game and all the DLC packs combined. And I don't even want to think about how much of my precious time I'd have to waste in order to delete all the paint chips I don't even want.

It's the same for all cars. You'll always get the original paint chip, not the paint chip of the current paint. It works for this car as it does for all the others, with the exception that this car doesn't have an original paint chip, so you'll get none. If you'd buy a car with a paint chip, paint it, send the car (irrespective of whether you paint it in a DLC color or not, mind you), the recipient will get the original paint chip of the car, as jlbmel has pointed out.

Or like many people have said, you could spend £1.59 (or whatever is your currency) on another 100 chips? That would take 3 minutes of your time, and a small fee on your wallet.

When you see how much money spend on DLC songs for RB say, or the map packs etc for games like COD, £1.59 is pretty darn good value if you ask me.

Sorry but spending $5, $10, or $20 on paint packs to buy 100 paint chips when at least 50% are bland or just suck and maybe 5-10 I actually like is just dumb. I'd rather dup the chips I like 5, 10, or 20 times than have 500, 1000, or 2000 or so chips I deem USELESS.

The chrome paint is a huge disappointment. Black Chrome has a lot more chrome than black. I have a black chrome floor lamp. It's the opposite of the game.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is this how it goes?

1)Save before trading
2)Trade
3)Quit game and go to USB drive and hit copy
4)Game should go back to like you never traded

Dumbest question of the week: if you backup the game then send a DLC color to a 2nd account then load the game, the paint chip is gone right?

Works for everything in the game also, Cars, Tickets, Horns ...
The only thing you loose is your daily trade spot.

I agree mate, i would rather just pay £1.59 for another hundred than go to all that hassle 👍

With all due respect, THAT IS ABSURD. I only care about 5-10 of the paints. I want 100 of them! Not the bullspit pigments wasting space on my drive. You may like 20 shades of bland, most of us do not.

You have no problem paying $20 to get 10 uses of fluorescent yellow or military tan? See THAT is the problem with this generation of gaming. THAT is why developers are 'gaming' us, aka screwing us over a barrel.

"If you don't stand for something, you'll probably fall for anything."

Yes, because paying for something one likes and finds worth the money is stupid, right?

No, it isn't. Repeatedly paying for 100 paints you only like a handful of is. Expecting anyone to pay for it, is thinking that they're stupid.

Doesn't matter if you only like 1 of 100, if you think it's worth it and can justify the spending (by saving time and/or avoiding the labour of duping), then it's not stupid.

Yes, it does, as I was referring to my situation here, and how it isn't worth it to me. It would be stupid of me to repeatedly purchase 100 paints I only like a handful of. Not just does it cost money I don't really have to spend, it's actually ending up wasting a lot of my time having to delete all these paints I don't even want. It's a lot more labour intensive to keep deleting all these paints than it is to just dupe the ones I like. Not that I'd still be duping paints now, I'm more referring to back when this thread first came up.

Thanks for validating my point. It isn't a good investment for you, but that doesn't mean it's bad for everyone else, even if they only like 1 out 100 paints as long as they can justify their purchase.
