You're just going to have to put your clogs on and walk to the brothels now, mate. đź‘Ť

Not to mention the cafe daan, you can never forget the cafe. :sly:

nk4e, I was thinking Total Recall where Schwarzenegger pulls that device out of his own head to stop them tracking him down.

Well if Florida ever decides to do something like this (and how the government is currently run I wouldn't be the least bit surprised) my Volvo is going to be sold quicker than you can say 22 year old redneckmobile. Goodbye Volvo, hello again Barracuda.

I'm so sick and tired of these eco-mentalists. What's next, a tax on an entire family having more than one vehicle, and another tax if that vehicle doesn't make more than 50mpg, and another tax if it isn't a toyota prius, and another tax if it's more than three years old, and another, and another, you get the point (albeit a ridiculous one, but a point nonetheless).

The problem here is, and this is quite retarded: your every move will be tracked!!!

Just to "pick" on this part. Governments already can trace all our moves simply by the fact that most of us (me excluded) have a mobile phone.

In a lot of cities and on the roads they also have CCTV cameras tracking your moves and every decent shop you walk in to has a CCTV too. So this is not really such a big deal.
It all depends on how will they use the info gathered, other than for taxing purposes, that matters. In the end the individual loses out.
Now I'll need to cycle in to the Rd Light district and not go by car ;)

Whether we willever get the system is still very much up to debate, it'll cost millions to implement. Far fairer I think is to move the tax to petrol like France does and have a # of toll roads. Then all road users get charged and not just the Dutch.

Edit (somewhat off topic)
article quote "Ownership and sales taxes, about a quarter of the cost of a new car, will be scrapped and replaced by the "price per kilometre" system "
Years ago we paid road tax, that was replaced by ownership tax. And that is what they aim to replace with the "kilometer" tax.

I just bought a new car. Base car price 38K, luxury Sales tax (BPM) 15.4K VAT 7.3K making it a 61K assault on my bank account. Thats approx 40% tax, not a quarter as suggested. The luxury sales tax is partially replaced by a surcharge for every gram of CO2 per km your car throws out above a set base level. Cars now have so called energy labels ranging from dark green to red.
Red will cost you extra tax and green will give you a bit of a bonus. Dark green bonus 1400 Euro, Red surcharge of 1600 euros.

Will cars be cheaper next year I asked the salesman, already guessing the answer correctly. No they wont (if you stick with a similar car)

AMG.

George Orwell had this scenario called out sixty years ago.
Watch now as Big Brother slowly starts to take shape and track every moment of your existence.

Do the Skyline GT-R, RX-7 and Corolla AE86 count as classic?

I believe they have to be 25-50 years old or so to count as classic... Maybe an old school AE86 would count... Skyline 2000GT would definitely fall under that category :P
