If someone had shown me that scene at 8:44 before today, I'd have bet my house that it was GT5. The fact that they're doing this for 500 cars in the space of 2 years is nothing short of astounding; I wasn't expecting anything like this in a million years after FM3.

The Xbox 360 is limited to 1080p native, but Forza runs at 720p, 60fps.

Nah, it wasn't just because of the PR stuff T10 said, it's more to do with looking at the recent games on the 360 and not seeing that much progress any more.

Yeah, today's consoles are not seeing much improvement any longer because they are old. We shouldn't be surprised.

Exactly. Not seeing much progress is what I expected. Thus, FM4 suprised me. Quite a bit.

That's not fair... human ignorance plays a much larger role than hardware constraints. I'm sure if for some reason this hardware were the pinnacle of technology we'd see a lot more improvement over time. It's not like creating a 3D lighting engine is a trivial matter, or that there's any one right way of doing it.

Meh, I'd say it's a lot about work and reward. Once you get to a certain point with a given hardware, you'll have to invest more and more and more development time to improve things just a wee bit.
With new hardware, you can start to make some huge leaps right of the bad... And get to small improvements that are hard to achieve again later on.

It's just a given that six year old hardware almost isn't cutting it anymore.

This is starting to seem like a back and forth battle. GT5 was slightly better than Forza 3 (both games have things the other doesnt with a slight edge going to GT5 IMO) Now Forza 4 looks to take the reins back. This game truly looks incredible. The graphics are right up to par now with GT5 but with Forza 4 its on every car not just 20% of them. Im awaiting to see the physics.
What custom paint jobs are going to look like with this new lighting effect is going to be great!!!

And they will be adding probably another 100 cars within the first year through DLC!!!!!

Well, he is my new hero!!! Move over PD, Kaz is big talk, but with only 150 personel
working, his dream will take TOOOOOO LONG.

My Thoughts on FM series

FM1, wow this is as fun as GT4!
FM2, WOW this is better then GT4!!!
FM3, Hmm seems like when GT5 will come out it will have great competition!
then GT5 came, for now GT5 is king, but seems once FM4 comes out, I know what I will be playing way more!

Also good FM4 is pushing the line more and more, sure no day night transition racing, no weather, but heck so many other features will keep me busy!

Seems turn10 is waiting for next xobx for perfect weather on all circuits and day night cycles!

Other then that Screw GT5, I will still play it, but not till FM4 comes out!

the current debate is about the vehicles, i'd rather have all my vehicles that fm3 made than the ones that gt5 made.

gt5 gave me cruddy gt4 imports and a handful of beautiful vehicles...

forza was consistent and still looked good.

I'm a fan of both gt5 and fm3, you just gotta give credit where credit is due and PD dropped the ball with their idea of standard and premium vehicles (if standard didn't look so out of date and have interiors i wouldn't be as upset).

I find aspects of FM3 disappointing, but I find more aspects of GT5 disappointing.

Am I having fun playing GT5? Yes.

I paid money for a game (both GT5 and FM3) and I'm allowed to like and dislike what I want, as is everyone else, so we'll continue to go around this carousel

I'm right there with you, but not playing GT5 anymore, just got bored and the laggy jumpiness and jittering online is so Sega Dreamcast.

Well Depends who you play with, I always play in the recommended servers, and many times I dont see any lag. Lots of videos as well out there where you see minimal lag. FM3 has bit more lag from my experience, but it always changes game to game, server to server, heck maybe sometimes im bit more lucky sometimes im not. GT5 is getting boring because KAZ wanted too much and did not deliver! Looking at FM4, coming out in few months, heck, Ill play GT5 till FM4 arrives!
I love idea that GT5 updates weekly special events which is cool, makes me drive from slow to super fast cars, also great challenges. I hope they do that in FM4, but in FM4 for sure we get monthly car updates! Heck PD should be doing that! I guess they are waiting for GT6, in order for GT6 to win, I bet they will HAVE to be on PS4 for more weather, damage, etc etc.
