There's your reference. I dished it up real quick for easy reference to turn numbers.

They definitely fixed the off track penalty. As soon as you get a MM of a third tire on any grass your lap's done. Unless there's one point in the track with a gap for exploiters to use I see this track as rock solid and impossible to cheat on.

This track's a beast, definitely makes good use of the new camber setting for custom tracks, which I like. It has a nice flow and the last turn is really easy so it's not too hard to keep a good lap going through to the end.

It's not as long as the original Eifel in round 2 but that's just great for me.
Being on the comfort softs on AWD makes every turn-in a necessary perfection.

Warning: bad quality.
This is a quick reference video I captured on what'll end up being a VERY slow lap. I mostly wanted a video so I can try and burn the track layout into my head by watching it over and over when I'm away from home or on work break.
Whatever works ah?
Hope you guys can use it well.

Thanks for the vid!! This track is going to make it or break it for allot of us. Its going to take some time to get this one down.

Definitely. Going to get as much time in as possible during the week because my weekend is filled with outdoor activities including the NASCAR race on Sunday.

It may be brief, but I'm number one in the west, for now. And I missed up two corners too. There's a 2:18 in me for sure, so I get it later.

Oh man. This course is going to be all about rhythm. With the corners all so close, how you enter the next corner depends largely on how you exit the previous, which can turn a small mistake into a huge gap.

Does anyone else sense the onset of hours upon hours of threading the needle?

It's definitely one of those tracks. It doesn't really look all that engaging from standing back and looking at it but running it's a whole different story.

It's got this really constant flow where you really don't much straight or hard braking. it's definitely built for the smooth hand.

Anyway, I'm glad you guys appreciated the effort. I'm off to nap so I can be pretty for work later tonight. Wish me luck

Out of the 2 available courses, Eifel is going to be the "make it or break it" of Round 3.

I'm currently -10 sec's from the leader in the West region, almost reminds me of the Nurburgring...a turn this way a turn that way. It's going to take a while to get used to where every turn ends & begins.

Wow, I am PATHETIC @ Eifel. :nervous: 7 seconds off the pace, struggling every single second of the lap. Whew, time for a break. Drove about 10 laps there at the moment and just cannot get over my "frustration."

Back @ it in a couple hours or so, going for a "real drive."

Sweet Jesus in the morning!!! This Eiffel track will take all my concentration just to learn, and I'm not overly bright to begin with. At least the Indy course is familiar. Thanks for the great layout, it will help a lot. 👍

Are any of you taking the last corner flat? It feels like it can be done, but I haven't been able to hold it.

I have been taking a "security" lift just to get the nose down when I turn in at the foot of the hill. I haven't been able to do it flat yet.

On a personal note, it is pretty cool to be racing against the GTPlanet founder. Best of luck!

Anyone have any tips for the first corner and the series of of curves between 4 and 9? I know it's about rhythm but I just can't seem to find the angle or line to take because there's no real markers between the undulating turns.

No chance in my opinion. 135mph is my top speed around there so far, and I think you can enter it at 145 or so.
Probably be a 2'17 by the nights end by someone.

Has anyone else noticed that after going off course, you have substantially less grip for quite some time? Or is my imagination just acting up again?

Haven't noticed. I have noticed though that you can still off the course and onto the grass without actually incurring a penalty so long as you're not mowing the lawn. They give a bit of leeway on just slightly cutting the corners but I haven't been able to get a line down where I can take advantage of it. I'm always sliding from one side of a corner to the other with these tires. They don't have any lateral grip at all.

You are right. The weird thing is it only affects the grip level when all 4 wheels hit the dirt, meaning putting 2 wheels in the dirt doesn't affect the grip level. Also, the grip reduction is timed, doing donuts cleans them off as fast as putting arou d for a few seconds, weird.

And a weird turn of events, my electricity went out while the kids were taking a bath and getting ready for bed! What a bummer. I'm all jacked up on redbull sitting around in candle light.

Am I the only one that hates this car/track combo? Its like they wanted to see how many corners they could jam in one section of track. And I would kill for a car that didn't understeer like a pig with 2 broken legs.

IMO the SpecV on CS tires is a whole lot better than driving the standard GTR on SH tires :yuck:

Nope, you're not alone. I don't mind the car/tires, but the track doesn't have a single redeeming value to me. It's bland, repetitive, wide, boring, and entirely too long. Not to mention the lack of any sort of braking markers. I had the same problem with Eifel last time. In fact, I've yet to race on a Course Maker track that I enjoyed.

Anyway, now that I've had my rant, it's time to put in some real time...

It's probably just PD's way of covering their arse in case they botched the DQ barriers again. This way, even if someone does cut, they're not going to have any grip for the next several corners (that is, if they even manage to make it round the next corner without going off).

It's pretty annoying because if you just barely get all 4 off on the exit, it will DQ your time (which I fully understand), but on top of that, it pretty much guarantees that the current lap (which has already been DQ'd, mind you) will be complete rubbish because you're almost guaranteed to go off again. Even if I get a DQ, I still like to complete the lap for practice and to see how the lap would have compared to my previous best, but the traction modifier pretty much puts an end to that.

It also seems that the track/grass edge has super vicious physics. There have been a few times when I just BARELY touch the grass with one or two wheels on the exit and it results in uncontrollable snap oversteer. Again, seems like an attempt by PD to discourage cutting. I'm not complaining, though; I would rather it be like this than experience Round 2 all over again.

135 at the apex or exit? Im still getting the line down, and see different speeds everytime.
