[Endurance] 2nd Akasaka Grand Prix - The Successor to Trial Mountain 2 HoursOpen

Instead of having a 600PP and a 680PP race class, I propose to combine the two into a single 650PP (just to stick with familiar PP numbers) class and introduce a new, ~400PP class, mainly intended for Cup Cars (ie. Lupo, MM-R, Cappuccino Race Car) and road cars not quite able to reach the full 500.

It is just an idea I'm letting loose, if it's not to anybodys liking, we'll continue using the current setup.

Well, it is a nice idea, but I'm not sure if it will attract any more people than the ones who already signed up for this event; no other GTPeers have shown any interest in joining, and those who already joined may not want to ditch their entries in lieu of a 400PP Cup class entry. Having one unified ~600PP class is a good idea, since there is no way we will get many more entry for two separate 600PP classes anyways...

As for the Cup class thingy, I do like it but again, what are the odds that more people will join because of it? The other problem is that trying to balance things between GT's Cup-class cars is that each one has its own idea of one-make specs, ergo we would probably need a single set of specs to unify all them under one banner and balance things out. And that's something else of a challenge entirely...

Personally, it would be nice if the entire grid of drivers had a very short sprint race with one set of Cup cars, like some sort of pre-race extravaganza. That may be just me, of course.

That might be partly down to me not doing my duty of tagging everyone I know (and GT6 is dying, let's not forget that) but despite that, we're still having the largest number of people on the list ever for one of these events. That leaves me slightly more optimistic than before. And you know, if anyone knows someone who might be interesting, I'm not turning them down.

It is a valid concern about them being built to different specs, but that's where the PP system sort of kicks in. Granted, it's not flawless, but it might just get them all down to a level where a good driver would be able to take any of them to victory.

And I do like the idea of a sprint warm-up/show event, but I'm afraid all that's ever going to do for anything that isn't the Nurb 24H is add runtime.

I know, I know... But if there are people who are busy enough to defend GT as if they were blinded by a very strong light, there should be somewhat more intelligent people that still like to play this game for fun, no? This may be overly optimistic stuff from me, but I want to believe... At least a full grid of 16, nothing more, nothing less.

Personally, I think the PP system is a little too flawed to be used properly. It can work if the pieces fall together, but at the same time it could to all people just picking the same car because they might see that such car overpowers everything without major disadvantages. Like what happened with the 600PP class back at Midfield, when the HSV-010 could ice most cars with the grip and accel powers it had... It's harder to keep tabs of tuning that doesn't influence power and/or weight, but it is possible to keep up with those last two things.

Yes, I get your point. The last thing we want is ending the car at midnight or something like that. Maybe it could work as a separate race for another time...?

I'm Interested in joining in. Even the 400PP. I volunteer vor that. gotta love the slow fun cars.

If we're not going that way. what are the other specs? is the OP post correct on the info?

The other specs are:

680PP Racing Cars i.e. LMPs, no AWD
600PP Racing Cars i.e. GT500, GT3, no AWD
500PP Production Cars

Alright. I've got to see if my wife doesn't go bonkers about being absent 2h on a saturday, and if so, I've got to choose a car to enter.

A couple of questions.

1. Isnt' the rocket kinda of cheaty on the 500PP, since its basicly an onld F2 car, but new?

2. on the 600 category. I was Interested on Using the Zytek Greaves. an LMP2 of 615PP max. No upgrades possible. Can I detune it to 600-5somethings, or is it non possible for the 600PP cat? this, since it only mentions no LMP's

The Rocket is a production car, although not one with major production numbers. Therefore, it suits the regulations unless new limitations are added to the category.

If the Zytek is a LMP2, it's a LMP class car. So you can't really use one for the 600PP class because of that. You can detune other racing cars for the 600PP class if you want to, just not LMPs.

An update on my work schedule is threatening to retire me from the race, but I'm not backing out entirely. And also, I've made a (crazy) decision to run my Deltawing in the 680 PP class. :)

You're indeed Crazy for running a delta on a course with alot of elevations. It doesn't not forgive that rockety car.

I'mma sign up for now, on the 600 class. I'll confirm my presence tonight or tomorrow.

Why do you think my team name is Speed Demon Motorsports? We are crazy.

Plus it wouldn't make sense for a prototype race car to race against 600 PP class GT3 cars, I've elected tk properly go with the 680 PP class. ;)

Alright, It seems I'm on. I'll just update my entry list with another car, as the BRZ goes up to 545 PP. it would be Uncompetitive.

Gonna probably take A tom's Supra 97, a R35 Shulze GT3, or a M3 GT2. have to test them out

AARGH, I wanted to get the Supra, damn it! Guess I have to go on, I'll get another car.

dnt take it 2 seriouz plz

Got it and done.

A provisional starting grid of 14? I'll take that! A shame it's not possible for everyone, but so are the joys of living on a globe.

also I had considered switching to the Supra in case nobody else did, but then I figured I'd stick with what I do know ever so slightly better.

Doesn't the race finish at approximately at 22:00 BST from my time?

Considering race start is at 20:30 CEST (i.e. BST +1), we should have the whole thing, including winners ceremony, done by then.

I am also working on a sort of calendar everyone on GTP can contribute to, in order to hopefully prevent as many clashes as possible, or at least make them more clear. Hopes are hosts will actually use it.
