Yeah i thought it was a joke, everyone said it was clean then OOO no its not.... dont get what Dan is doing btw.

I'm not doing anything lol, couldn't be bothered uploading my replay, I'm so far behind it's not really worth getting the points

Correct, oh well, You know what I'm like with submissions, the times there for everyone to see, why the hell is a replay required, simple answer is it isn't, I find it a very boring task to upload replays, got sick of it in GT4, now we finally don't need to upload replays and yet in this series the rule remains. In my opinion replay is not required if a person has achieved a top ten time

Yeah, but the reason everyone needs to submit a replay is because your top ten lap may be dirty. This rule gives you the oppurtunity to still submit a clean lap. Submitting a replay here makes it fair for everyone. I hate submitting replays too but its something that needs to be done.

But i'll talk to ripping about the replay situation for a possible rule change. It is definetely possible, it makes it easier to check replays too.

I suppose you should be able to be rewarded for a top 10 spot by not having to submit a replay - it also means anyone in any region can review the replays since the download converts to NTSC/PAL as needed. However, a few thoughts on this possible policy change that mad and ripping should consider:

1. If you expect us to use the top 10 replay, then the time you submit must match the top ten time or its a DQ
2. The driver is responsible for saving his lap ALWAYS in case he gets knocked out of the top 10 - NO EXCUSES for NOT having a replay
3. If for any reason your lap can not be verified before the replay submission deadline, its a DQ (i.e. you can't submit a replay that was knocked out of the top 10 after the replay deadline has passed just because no one had time to verify it)

In general, we get these replay verifications completed before the deadline - heck, half the time I've watched Dan's replay 10 times already before the event is even over so I could bless it 2 seconds after the event ends. :)

On another side note, just to prove that I'm not always out to get people DQ'ed, one could argue that Tizzla's original posted replay is actually valid. You just have to know how to handle it, which, if WRS taught me anything early on, it was how to review replays. If you open the PARAM.SFO file using NotePad or any text editor it will tell you what the name of the directory is that the files need to be placed in. Granted this creates quite a bit of work for the person doing the reviews but for something that only happens once in awhile I think it is forgivable.

Oh well, it seems the EYS 9 thread is still growing faster than the EYS 10 thread so I'm going to stop focusing attention now and move on.

I see what you mean Dan but it doesnt take more than 2 minutes to post your replay, but then like you said your replay would be on rankings so you shouldnt really get DQ'ed, replay verification is needed though.

I do agree, it is extremely pedantic to post your replay when you in top ten, especially when there is no chance of getting knocked out, but....

The rule was put in place to also make in fair on everyone with regards to work required for submission. You may be top ten but why should you have to do 'less' than a non top-ten driver? This way 'everyone' follows the 'one' rule.

Technically speaking, the files in TIZZLA's zip file may well have been valid, but they were not able to be loaded because of the missing directory structure.
I wasn't aware of opening the PARAM.SFO file gives you the directory name, but having said that, I'm not going to all the trouble of rebuilding entrants zip files just so i can view their replay.
Not wanting to sound all whiney, but the verification of replays, (of which I seem to be doing the vast majority of - kudos to those that are helping out 👍), and the compilation of the results tables takes several hours each round.
I'm not interested in jumping through hoops because of incorrect replays being submitted. However in almost all cases I have either PM'ed the racer or posted in the thread that a replay needs posting or reposting. Several times I could have done nothing and simply excluded the driver from the results.

I see what you mean Dan but it doesnt take more than 2 minutes to post your replay, but then like you said your replay would be on rankings so you shouldnt really get DQ'ed, replay verification is needed though.
So true. It takes two or three minutes to post a replay in the thread, the more you do it, the easier it is. Can it really be so hard to upload your replay, and to check it before you do to make sure its valid?
By check it I mean. look at zip file size (around 100-150kb). look inside zip to see you have the right structure PS3/SAVEDATA/BC0EFE0-RPLY2......./ and ensure there is only one /BC0EFE0-RPLY...../ directory.
Having said all that, I agree that the rules could be 'tuned' for redundancy.
But these ARE the rules, and have been since race 3(?), so there cannot really be any excuses for not following them. Every entrant has successfully posted a replay in previous rounds, so its not like you don't 'know' how or what to do.
The replay posting rule was put in place so that 'everyone', weather your 1st or 13th has the same rules to follow.
Whatever the rules may be, I think its important that they be followed to the letter, because if one entrant takes a liberty and gets away with it... where is the rule ?
Always open to discussion of the pro's and cons.
