What is your weapon of choice on race weekends IRL

Update: I think this was not clear before, this thread is for PD to see the cars we actually run on weekend grassroots races so they can either update the models or add them to GT6. Moderators, please put this back on the GT6 main forum - thanks.

I'm a bit disappointed that the EG6 saw very little improvement in GT6. This is the latest car i drive on AutoX event and Track days. I was thinking that this was a common budget "sports" car for weekend racers and PD would put some love into it.

Now here's my plan for this thread I would like to see what most of us who drive cars in haste on weekends actually use. Put in the following information on your posts.

  • Car Make, Year and Model
  • Car upgrades
  • Your general location
  • What do you use the car for ( track days, track amature racing, auto cross, rally cross etc.)
  • Photo of the car in action

I'll keep track of you entries on the top the thread. Hopefully PD can put some focus on cars we can
actually afford and use, and in the future we can use GT to actually simulate upgrades to our cars.

1988 Ford Mustang with a 1987-1988 Turbo Coupe engine (we ran it for a couple of years with the stock four-cylinder engine)

Mostly endurance racing (Chump/LeMons/etc) with the occasional track day thrown in.

Upgrades/modifications:
  • General race prep: fully stripped, roll cage, gutted doors, pulled all glass except windshield, relocated battery to passenger foot well
  • Cut springs
  • Cone air filter
  • Delete EGR
  • 2.5" exhaust w/no catalytic converter (track-only car)
  • We run it without the hatch.

Right now it's pretty stock. Completely gutted interior, replaced power steering rack with a manual one, removed A/C system, full roll cage, aluminum racing seat, quick detach steering wheel, electrical kill switch. I will be installing a Racing Beat exhaust header with a pre-silencer and a K&N cold air intake before our next race.

What do you use the car for
Chumpcar endurance racing. We've done one race in 2013 and plan to do two in 2014.

I just do about 4 laps Nordschleife every year in my 206 RC. A 4 lap ticket is expensive enough already, will be 100€ next year :indiff:

That's more than my 0 laps in the dream track. What model year is it?

Kinda hope MK6 GTI was in the game, consider how many duplicates of the same car is in it....

Finished 2nd in the non-SCCA local PAX points championship this year, pretty stoked about that...

Also tried RallyX for the first time last weekend in my friend's B13 Sentra, pretty fun there too...

  • I sold the car 2 days ago unfortunately, and it was in no way a designated track day car at all. I just went to the track with a BMW club, and figured "why the hell not", and went ahead.
  • Oh, and not to rain on your parade, but wouldnt this be more fitting in the automotive section rather than GT6?

(GT6 still doesn't let me do this...)

Getting close though, got my EG6 to almost do this in GT6.

Not really, the whole point of the thread is to find out which was the common weekend "race" car we use so PD could update/add them in GT6. And maybe PD can see what type of upgrades we (the GT community) do in IRL, hopefully we can see even more realistic upgrades in GT6 in the future.

Ah, I see. Well, as much as I would love an E39 in the game (be it M5 or any other variation), the 520IA touring is not really a car for trackdays. Yes its fun, but understeers all the time, and the automatic isn't really sporty, even in triptronic mode :P The only car I managed to outdrive was a shoddy E36 316, and that was only just. Hauling over 1.5 tons around a track isnt advisable.

JDM cars are most dominant in trackdays/autox/anything track really around here, but is rarely the winner. go to youtube and type in "Gatebil 2012" and see how us Norwegians deal with amateur racing and drifting

Just bought a 2zz swapped toyota MR2 W30. Wish there was a game that would let me drive that car.... taking it to my first hpde with it this weekend. Previous was a midly modded for track '12 (rce yellow, koni inserts, 17x9 rpf1s with star specs but thats it) WRX with open downpipe and tune. Still have that car but it's solely my dd now.

Sadly, no. I will be out of town for the holidays and the Beetle is currently down for some work. And Hollytree is a haul, man! Nearly 4 hours the last time I went! lol

Dang! Haha. Well, I'll probably be in the 'Bama area for some Rallycross this next season. The WRX is down for some work as well at the moment. Maybe I'll see you sometime in the next year! Btw, lovin' the Forward Motion pics... ;)

Thanks! I'll be helping with the AL region program next year, so I look forward to seeing you down here! We have secured a new race location and it's even a little farther north than Shag Bark was.

As far as the pics, the entire story can be found here ... http://www.aforwardmotion.com/dirty-dori/. Nick, the writer, actually helped me build the car. Lots of wrenching and welding and sanding at 3:00 am over the couple of years of the build.

Oh wow! I didn't even see that write-up. I'm friends with a bunch of the guys that formed Forward Motion.. Small world, haha.
