To clarify a rule…*we are supposed to remain in the same car for each of the two races of that round, right?

that's more of a suggestion really, not so much a hard and fast rule. In the past we've had people change cars after the first race because their car was not competitive, and thats fine. We just don't want people switching to a car that will give them an unfair advantage, but it's been quite a while since anyone's done that. And usually when they do the new car is illegal anyway.

Sorry guys, here's my pick.

90's and 00's FR's @ 430PP, racing at Laguna Seca.

I'm not sure I'll be able to make this tonight. The inlaws are around for an extra night. They put their flight home off until tomorrow due to the storm in the Northeast.

I hope I can, though…

Marriot anyone? :sly::sly:

I have a pretty interesting choice or the 420 hatch back for tonight!

Results: 12/27/12

1. ChuthuluGoat.................86
2. weaver-2009_................83
3. Wolfsatz.......................78
4. racefan78.....................68
5. AJK-VAIL......................53
6. Apmaddock...................30
7. drrgreenthumb...............16

Round 3 recieved the most votes. So ChuthuluGoat gets to pick a new combo to replace it.

Rounds 1 had second most, so weaver-2009_ gets to pick either a new track or a new car spec for that round

Thanks to everyone who showed up and raced! Also, since this was the last SCT night of 2012, I will be compiling some stats so that those of you who raced can see how you performed over the course of the "season". Thanks again to everyone for making this series a success!

I'm thinking about a car change. Pickups and SUVs on Cape Ring inside?

Just kidding, I'll think something up.

You may be joking but I seriously considered running on a Chevy Silverado @ Laguna; that baby has over 350 HPs.

I think the SSR also fits the 420 PP.

I think trucks would be an interesting and original choice. I think there Are not many SUV cars in the game which may limit choices.

All trucks are fairly equal in PP terms.

Alright guys, last night was the 14th week of SCT/ESCarGoT competition. 26 different SNAIL members have raced with us over that time, including representatives from all 5 divisions. I want to think everyone who raced over the last few months for making this series a success, and for sticking with us through the growing pains (which there were quite a few of, due in large part to the fact that this is the first series I've ever managed). I'd also like to think everyone involved in SNAIL, especialy the founding members, for providing the framework that made this series possible.

:gtpflag:

For those of you out there who enjoy statistics, here's a spreadsheet with some interesting data I've compiled over the course of the last 14 weeks. Thanks to kcheeb for providing the template we use to collect the data 👍

After many different ideas and poor experiments, I have decided on next week's combo. I wanted to give everyone time to find a car to use so I'm posting this nice and early.

We will be keeping Cape Ring Inside but our car choice will be altered. Here are the parameters:

-1960 to 1980
-Japanese
-Front engine/Rear Drive
-350 pp
-Sports Hard Tires

I came up with 8-10 different choices for this combo. I tried everything from full-size pickups to muscle cars but my struggle always came down to having a big car on a small track. Hopefully these little cars will produce close racing without being too slow or boring. Keep an eye on the UCD if you don't already have a car to use.

It's gonna be a Japanese week!
To replace round 3 I choose
-Japanese
-1123 kg or more
-570 PP
-Sports Soft tires
The track will be Top Gear Test Track. Hopefully these cars will produce some crazy figure 8 action.:sly:

These little cars are sweet in Kart Space.

I know what car you tested. :sly:

So this means we will have to allow tuner cars, which also means tuning will have to be un-prohibited for that combo. Correct?

No, tuner cars can be used with tuning prohibited so long as you leave all the settings default (or reset them to default if you changed them already). We ordinarily go by the SNAIL tire guidelines, which would put Goat's combo on Sports Softs, but if you really wan to run them on mediums we can.

I thought tuner cars didn't work, guess they do. As for tires, if Goat wants mediums then I say mediums. Just know that his choice is capable of spinning the tires through 4th. Good pick Goat.👍

Are we allowed to pick racecars or Concept cars?

I'm sorry guys, I meant Sports Soft. And the idea is to pick whatever meets the criteria, racecars, concept, whatever. I am also gong to adjust the PP to 570. None of my cars had oil changes so after changing the oil they didn't fit:drool: so 570 PP:)

Hey Weaver, i know you like the American Muscle...have you tried the time trial at Nurb with the Vette prototype?

I golded with just hundreds of a seconds to spare, awesome seasonal A La Snail style as tuning is prohibited!

I don't ever want to hear about that damn seasonal again. I can't get all the way around without choking. My best time was about a second and a half off. It's a little embarrassing.

Alright, and that sounds interesting. We've never done a totally open selection like that, so I imagine this round will be quite the wild card, especially with the figure-8 thrown into the loop.

Just a reminder to everyone: SNAIL rules will still apply on the Top Gear track, just like everywhere else. Accidental contact is one thing, especially through the figure-8 section, but let's try to prevent this from devoving into a total demolition derby.

Hey Goat,
This restriction combination would not promote different entries, as the one that just fits the criteria perfectly would blow away any others (i think)...

If its left like this, everyone will show with the same car like it happened @ Tsukuba with the RX-7.

How about lifting either the weight restriction, or increasing the PP limit to even the playing field? ... I am assuming that the restriction is based on the R-34 Carbon? 💡

I will post a list of cars that fit to make it easier. The weight restriction was based on keeping the R-34 Carbon in, while excluding the touring cars and NSX-R LM. Some GT 500 monsters will fit, and I would like to say something like no GT 500 cars, but I don't want to restrict it to much.

In reference to the carbon blowing away others, it really isn't the fastest around Top Gear, i just wanted to give people the chance to drive it if they desire.:)

Cars I was thinking would be good:

Amuse Carbon R '04 590 HP
HKS Genki Hyper Silvia RS2 '04 453 HP
Nissan Calsonic Skyline GT-R Race car '93 544 HP
Mine's BNR34 Skyline GT-R V.spec N1 base '00 590 HP
Blitz ER34 D1 SPEC '04 491 HP
Nissan FALKEN*GT-R Race car '04 480 HP
Honda NSX-R Prototype LM Road Car (in OCD now!)518 HP

Some more that fit
Honda RAYBRIG NSX '00 463 HP
Honda Mobil 1 NSX '01 457 HP
Honda Castrol Mugen NSX '00 463 HP
Honda ARTA NSX '00 463 HP
Honda LOCTITE MUGEN NSX '01 458 HP

This message brought to you from Honda.

Yeah, if we're not restricting the class of cars there should be plenty of options. It'll be really interesting to see how the race cars fare on sports tires. Normally that wouldn't even be allowed but I think using the lower of the two tire regulations is the only way to keep the race cars from totally dominating here.

Ok, combo post has been updated for tomorrow, however, there is a slight issue with Chiochan's pick. It's not possible to restrict both PP and Weight at the same time, you can only do PP or HP/Weight. So right now I have the post as 570 PP since we usually use PP, but Chiochan, if you want to give us an HP restriction instead of a PP one we can do HP/Weight. Up to you.
