Is it rally-cross where the starting positions take different paths on two similar "tracks" of the same length? I find that it could be really fun and it might be possible to have a Course Maker Generator for it like the rally Special Events.

No, it isn't. Rally Cross is 5 - 10 cars at the same time on the same track doing several laps. Like road racing.

The classic GT Format:

Example:
FF Challenge

Regulations/Rules: FF Cars Only

1st - 1,500cr
2nd - 1,000cr

Autumn Ring Mini - 3 Laps
Midfield Raceway - 2 Laps
Seattle Short - 2 Laps
Deep Forest Raceway - 2 Laps

Possible Prize Car - Honda Civic Coupe Si (EM1, US) '99

I hope that there's no level up system and PD goes back to the license restrictions. I mean, the license tests were very pointless in GT5 otherwise unless you wanted some A-Spec points for level ups and the prize cars.

Oh yeah, here's example 2:

US Old School Muscle Car Cup

One thing I haven't warmed to is categorising the races into Beginner, Amateur, Expert etc after Gran Turismo 2. Instead I would split races into;

Manufacturer Races - events for a specific manufacturer only. Would make it much easier to find than currently trying to guess which difficulty the event falls into.
Nationals - country exclusive races, such as Schwarzwald Leagues, Japanese Classics, etc.
Special Events - for the more general events, like drivetrain-specific challenges, world historics, and Licensed Events like NASCAR.
Endurance - so long as they fix endurance up, I find it as on GT5 pretty tedious.
GT League - Events like karting, Sunday Cup (which would have cars restricted by a nominal minimum weight, and a naturally aspirated 2 Litre Engine or less. Similar restrictions for Clubman Cup, and so on. GT3, GT2 Categories can exist with special tunes for vehicles which would qualify them to race in a specific class of sportscar racing, but that is another issue. Basically a sub-section of the racing events that could resemble a career ladder of a professional sportscar driver.

Rally - pretty self explanatory. Whether they make rally worthwhile in GT6 will remain to be seen. Drag Racing seems to be all the rage in this forum, so another subcategory for that, as well.

I can agree with that. There is no reason why a Vitz race for example would be less "expert" than F1 racing. It depends on the caliber of drivers in the series.

That said though, a free mode allowing you to create races takes care of everything, barring any silly pointless detraction like needing to unlock opponent chips to be able to select specific cars to race against.

Yesterday, I was playing in GT1 and I saw this:

- Normal Car Cup.

And then, I thought: "How cool would it be to have this feature on GT6?". No modifications allowed, races on the most difficult tracks of the game, with 5 laps each (oh, God, Nordschleife will take forever), and the AI had cars that would always match your performance. And the reward for doing this was an Impreza WRX STi.

I used a Viper RT\10 for that championship, but, heck, I could have even used a Primera, the AI was competitive. Felt like the most difficult championship in my life.

So... It would be cool to do a championship like this, to make things spicier.

Or they could return with the Professional Vitz Race from GT3.

I would love to see these championships cars and tracks

However I know due to licensing we cannot have some of them or all of them.
But there is a solution. Give the users Livery editors and a track creation system that actually works. That way we could have
GTC - German Touring Cars - A5, M3, C63 (all RM) - Let the users design the livery and tracks
LMS - I think GT already has license for this
BTCC & WTCC - All the cars with RM and design our own livery and tracks.
Formula GT - Let us buy Formula GT cars design our livery, create a team with a BOB or with a friend and we both run on a Formula GT championship of 19/20 tracks online or offline. Don't make us have to run the 19/20 races straight... let us finish one race... do whatever events we want to do and when we want we go and run another Formula GT race for that championship.
WRC - If we can't have the cars from 2013 or 2014 let us have classic cars... as many as you can. and let us run against the clock on has many races as the official WRC has.

*Endurance Races*

Brilliant post, Earth. 👍

GT5 lacked so much in the Endurance Racing events. There were so many possibilities for events with how many tracks we had available. The idea of starting out at Beginner and working your way through sounds good. After all, some people may never want to even attempt the massive 24 hour events, but would still like to complete a section of lower classed, long distance races.

Multi-class racing is a must, in my eyes. Especially if the amount of cars on track goes up. It offers variety and makes for more interesting racing and fun.

More restrictions are also needed when it comes to entering these events. GT5 was poorly constructed for allowing, in most races, absolutely anything. The beginner events should definitely be restricted, but when it comes to the more prestigious and longer duration, there should be more allowance.

I hope in the next GT, we'll see a huge variety of Endurance Races. Such as some of the ones you metioned, plus many more. With the addition of new tracks, too, there should be no shortage of such events.

I was thinking an Eiger Nordwand 100 or 150km with low HP/PP classic cars would be a good idea. Anything except 9 Hours of Tsukuba or 4 hours of MX-5 Racing.

I don't think so... My memory might be failing me, but I think the license is Turn 10's (not really sure tho, only 56,987% sure).

As for the Formula GT issue, you can always exit to GT Life (as you people call it), in the middle of a championship, after a race, but you can't do anything. It's like, if you want a break from the championship, you exit it (you don't QUIT, you EXIT it), and you can continue it on another day. I think that they don't let us do other events while participating in FGT because F1 drivers don't do so.

I don't think it's a realism issue, I think it's a design flaw. Might have something to do with how the data is saved and that it doesn't allow you to switch to another event until the one in progress is finished. So this may have been the best they could do without having to dig too deep into the code and reconstruct everything from ground up. Just a guess...

This was my notion too. Not quite as detailed as Earth's marvelous posts, but very similar. I'd also like some FIA GT Classes added in there too.

If I recall, GT2 or 3 had some series which repeated the theme, but with increasingly difficult A.I. and more powerful vehicles at higher levels. Likewise better cash rewards and cars. So I'd love to see DTM races for instance at Beginner Level, Semi-Pro Level and Professional Level, each with more laps, more competitive bots, bigger credit and car prizes. They should run on tracks that are either German/European, or have that environment flavor such as Deep Forest. The Nordschleife would make a great final event to cap it off. Unlike Fugitivo, I'd prefer that PD produce a wealth of tracks appropriate for any racing series, though according to Lucas Ordonez, we're going to be very happy with the track list in GT6 so here's hoping.

One thing that will be crucial for a concept like this is for PD to produce a whole gob of cars for these scenarios. The good thing is that most of these cars can be duplicates with different liveries, such as what we have now in GT5 with the numerous Super GT Supras, NSXs and Skylines. License as many team liveries as you can, and to add to the potential competitor count, I'd be fine with some fantasy teams and liveries to flesh all that out. But along with that, select bot competitor names that reflect the racing series that you're in, such as mostly Japanese names for Super GT events, European names for DTM and GT Class racing, mostly Americans for ALMS and NASCAR, etc.

However, how about something including his user content idea?

I think they should introduce a difficulty scheme like any other game, yes it can make you be one a better driver and equal the playing field but for some, it could seam hard and off putting (even without the bad AI). It would effect the points/Experience/Credits gained from any race/event/sponsorship(and a new idea). Some thing like 0.5x beginner, 0.8x intermediate, 1.0x Hard, 1.2x Expert, 1.5x Legend. With AI being a bit tamer low level and aggressive higher.

Also they should bring back qualifying

I'd like to see a calendar format that allows you to compete in multiple race series at once, over the course of a season. Instead of doing events and having like 5 races or just doing one race at a time, I'd like to see them incorporate a calendar and you can sign up and race in a few different series at once. Start with beginner and grow into advanced. Bring the licenses and make them required again. Make it mandatory to register one car for that specific series, forcing you to race in that car for the duration of the series. That way we could have an actual points race that spans 20-30 races for a series, forcing you to consistently perform against (ideally) much improved AI. I feel like this would be a much more engrossing experience.
