Watch, now all the Xbox Fanboys are going to be laughing over this.

Driveclub was having a long run with its content. Why did Sony have to do this? And this is coming from a person who doesn't even own the game.

This was shared on Twitter, from the sounds of it DC will still get the rest of its DLC but Evo won't have a hand in it.

Very sad news. DC was the best racing game on PS4 and now Evo is dead. :( Now a full time move to Xbox is now certain.

Same here.

I wonder what this means for Rushy & the lot. Also, as someone who wants more Driveclub: They have teased more city tracks. When they were first announced they showed two (I think) areas that are definitely not in Old Town. I wonder how far along these tracks are?

Driveclub will supposedly continue to receive support

Man, this is some horrible news. Was truly shocked when I saw the headline. So much effort went into making Driveclub a great game, what with Bikes and VR being an awesome addition to the game itself. Its really a sad ending.

I know Driveclub will live on by the PS team, but it'll never be the same. The sense of community between us and the devs were one of the great things about the game and studio. I hope we'll still have some interaction in the future.

Dammit, the Finish Line tour sounds much sadder now.

I really wish the guys at Evo the best of luck in their future endeavors. They are one hell of a team. Farewell, Evolution Studios.

Sigh... this hurts a lot. Driveclub is my most played game.

I feel so hurt. Ever since Driveclub came out, I've been hooked. I've been looking forward to Driveclub 2 ever since Driveclub's release :(

Problem with Evo studios was it took way to long to make Driveclub good and to make it work...first few months was a total disaster. Also the focus on clubs rather than racing really hurt this game.

Then we have Motorstorm...decent enough game but by the time the last one came out the series had really ran its course.

So you can see why Sony have done this...id of loved to of seen another rally game from them but Sony let the licence go.

Sad to hear about that... :(

Honestly, EVO did such an amazing job on this game... I'm at a point where I don't even know if the fact that DC is still getting support from other teams is a good thing or not. EVO just made DC like it should be and like it needed to be. They listened to the community and did everything right. The fact that another team take this thing over and continue to create tracks/cars... Mmmmh it doesn't feel right.

I would be very disappointed if the next contents would be of poor quality or if they change the "aura" of the game.

Also, don't you think they did that just to transfer the team and its expertise on the next Gran Turismo ? :)

EVO ! Thanks for the amazing ride ! 👍 #uniteinspeed

I'm on FB today and people aren't aware of the massive recovery that Evolution Studios made for DC. They are still assuming the game is still crap. Smh.

How is that any different to devs such as PD?
PD are in a world of their own they have been left completely behind. Reason why Sony dont shut them down is due to the insanely high sales of thier games. Gt5 prob brought in as much money as the last 3 motorstorm games and driveclub.

But DC would have netted a nice amount of revenue, no? Sure GT5 (and GT6 to a lesser extent) has massive sales but then DC had plenty of DLC which players would want so it isn't like they just couldn't make money.

As an Xbox fan, I would honestly have to say it is bad that Evolution has been shut down by Sony. In all honesty, it was a bad decision. I hope that T10, or more precisely Playground games (as they are UK based), will pick them up. Hopefully before Codemasters grabs them.

Codemasters have more than enough talent, which they already waste in a lot of cases (seriously, Grid Autosport was just poor. And F1 2015 wasn't a bed of roses either in some cases). Playground however could really utilize the talent from Evolution, and it could really help them add some new interesting twists into Forza Horizon.

I genuinely wish the best to all Evolution Studios guys hoping that someone else will hire them, at this point PD could do it for real IMHO. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have the same guys who set a new milestone in the graphics and sound department for the racing genre.

HEY!

It was discomforting to hear that fifty people had left the company a while back, but to be shut down completely? That came as a shock.... just as Driveclub was starting to become one of the most enjoyable racing games on the PS4.

I've always loved Evo's work. In fact, their first WRC game is one of the main reasons I have an interest in gaming and motorsport generally. They were life changing to say the least.

It's a shame they didn't get the level of praise that they deserved. Well, as they say, when one door closes, another one opens. I'm hoping the industry has realized Evo's efforts and will snap up the ex employees like Amazon did with the old Top Gear crew, or better yet reunite and come back stronger than before.

Makes me want to return to my PS2 and start playing WRC 2001 again. Very sad indeed.

Must say I'm extremely surprised by this after reading DRIVECLUB VR article on here yesterday and then announcement they are closed today :boggled:.

Hopefully they stay together and do something awesome:

Finally, hopefully DRIVECLUB still has a future and more is revealed at E3 this year.

I guess being shut down is no news to Evolution Studios. That they have known it for a while now. This weeks "Finish Line" DLC was just that. It looks like they have already started up a new venture. going by Rushy's announcement to expect more DC at E3. There is hope yet. :)
