Does anyone actually understand lag?
i dunno, maybe 💡
when i was running with burnout his car would keep zigzagging at about 45 degree angles to the track, and sometimes jump back and forth from one side of the track to the other. i was guessing this was because his connection was intermittently slow, and was transmitting data piecemeal to the server (and the positioning of his car reflected it accordingly).
this caused a number of incidents between us, including one where i made an inside pass with about 2 carwidths to spare (he was over near the outside at the apex and i just took a normal line), but the suddenly his car appeared at the edge of mine and i catapulted him into the runoff.
i waited a few times to try and give us both someone to run with since most of the field was a bit slower, but i think from his perspecive it may have looked like i was punting him relentlessly and then hanging around just to do it again. sorry dude but it really wasnt like that.
ahh while im at it- apologies to anyone i have had run-ins with this week. i have a few excellent excuses
:
- havent played in a month or two
- wheel is out of commission and im trying to learn to be smooth wih a controller
- ive been drinking
- ive been drinking
ive gotten a couple of psn messages, mostly nasty but with some attempt at constructive feedback. if those who sent them are reading- your accusations of inexperience and intentional punting are not true, and that our run-ins can be attributed to the above excuses. i sincerely apologize for taking away from the quality of your race, and i hope you will give me a another chance when we next meet.
and to the drivers that i have had better experiences with - prudent bear, mr volcano, some gtlm-squad guys, hayabusa_gtrp, etc. - thanks for the great racing 👍👍👍
