At my girlfriends until tomorow...

I'm seriously considering buying 2 PS3's as I can't be bothered to disconnected it all and risk the damage of transporting it lol.

Can't wait to get back on this event. Getting total withdrawel symptons here...

Flash48 and Twisty_bits timeattack07 and few other GTPers last night, some good races except for some erratic moves on my part (I have bronchitis and I kept coughing at the worst times). I love races were you can trade places back and forth with other players every few corners.

Anyone racing right now? I'll probably do a race or two before I go to work.

I didn't realise you were a member of this forum. I had some great racing with you yesterday, even if my stock set up was restricting me from going any faster. :)

Great racing pal! For a stock set-up you were doing quite well! 👍 See ya around!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll be in for the next few races, hope to see some GTP'ers out there. It's been a TOTAL mess this morning. Lots of lag and the usual clean/fast drivers are either driving quite sloppy or are being overly aggresive...I really don't know what the hell is going on out there lol. Everyone be on the look out for Thanos of the GTLM squad. His driving this morning, particularly toward me has been ABSOLUTELY over the top. I've had multiple chats with him in the past via PSN and here on GTPlanet... we've always been on good terms and have had some good battles despite his questionable racing etiquette at times. I really don't know what's gotten into him!!!??? He ran me off the road 5 times in two races, and then in the last race he went out of his way to purposely run me off the road multiple times, even waiting for me to get back on the track so he could do the same thing again. I think he has a slight insecurity problem because of the fact that he can't dominate the field now like he used to when he would take his GTLM into the non GTLM :02 PP750 races at Suzuka.

In the second race he had a draft on me going down the main straight and decided to ram me against the pit wall, causing me to spin out while taking out another respectable driver from Japan...f'in idiot! He also tried to pass me by going into the dirt on the last lap for the win at the exit of 130R approaching Casio, which caused us both to spin out once again. His other contacts took place under braking, where he aggressively ran me off three times under braking...he waited afterwords if that really meant anything . But honestly I don't know what the hell he was thinking...our pace was the fastest of the group, yet we sat in the back of the field because of his stupidity. I sent him a real nasty message via PSN. I've seriously never been this pissed off with another racers, especially with someone who has the speed and pace he is capable of. I'm quite disgusted. Anyway, I just thought I'd inform you guys. 👍

@ Timeattack.

Thanos has problems with his own mortality. Search the site for him and you'll see lol.

Just try to ignore him.

I'll be on at about 8pm UK time. No cam-lad though.

@RPM: Bro...he is being utterly ridiculous. In the last race he was up to same antics once again. I seriously can't even race if he is in the field with me. He'll go out of his way to take me out, even if it cost him valuable time. What can I do about such a situation. Ignoring him just makes things worse, as I won't be aware of when he's trying to take me out.

It does sound like a toughie mate.

I think it's worth just giving one of the mods a PM, asking them what they would do in that situation?

I know me, personally, I'd usually start at the back and if I come up behind him, I'd do everything I could do not pass him. Just sit there, follow him through traffic. If he makes an error and he knows you could easily pass - don't pass him. If he spins off, wait. Let him infront, follow him.

That's the sign of domination. Taking him out would only make him more keen to repeat his moves in my opinion.

If he begins brake testing you, then well...I've heard some people have got in touch with Sony or whoever before...and it's actually worked when making a complaint?

Hope that helps.

Ian

@Timeattack07gt:

Since Thanos doesn't drive with a GTP tag, there isn't much we race admins can do.

I also had an encounter with him. I messaged him that I won't race him anymore, because he manages to touch me everytime we are in a fight. I had enough of that and informed him I'd just let him pass in the future.
He then sent back 3 messages in which he used all characters, describing what was wrong with my driving and that he never had any complaints before from other drivers. This all in the aggressive style we know from him.
The best part was that a few minutes later I received a 4th message: "Dude, I really think you should relax more"

I'd suggest you just let him pass and then continue your race again. I can't imagine he keeps on driving you off the road race after race. If he does bother you again, just stop the car at the side of the track and see what he does. He'll leave you alone one time. I somehow believe he has a rather short attention span...

Otherwise you can just send him a message with: "Can you leave me alone, please?" Don't try to argue with him in any case, because he can't stand any criticism.

Please check in here again before you start to use other measures.

lol.. ive had a few run in with Thanos.... but ive just binned him into the tyre wall everytime he's smashed into me:tup:

So who's using the Alias racoonman888.

Has to be someone off of here.

Grey Cali.

Rammed me xx15, waited - ok, but ruined my race.

Hassling me xx.30, let him through, but then doesn't go any faster than me?

I noticed Benannt has now chosen a car he can make mistakes in and still stay ahead of me in ;)

Probably wise...

Both the above named played tom foolery with myself this evening too. racoonman88 is one of the new breed of professional punters it would seem... fast and dirty. And what is Bennant's problem?

Sheesh... still I managed a couple of podiums and a win. Not all bad for GTP.

And what is Bennant's problem?

EDIT: I drove two races in a California just now, well 00:30 and 00:45. I recorded both so I could check my lines, I haven't driven the California in anger in a while and can't seem to get a setup that works for me, thus I raced two races to check my new setup in race conditions. Between posting my original post here and this I reviewed both races on my phone and saw the following;

Anyway. 00:30 race I saw you, GTP_Vagabond in it. You were ahead of me, in a blue f430(?) into turn 1 from the start and out braked yourself off the track. I was nowhere near you, a good 3 car lengths behind. The rest of the race I had a 4-6second gap on the field and therefore no other issues. 00:45 race I didn't see you in it and made it to turn one ahead of a [IT] driver (couldn't read the name) and stayed ahead by 1.5-3seconds the rest of the race, therefore no issues again. I noticed no lag from my POV in either race, though except for the start I never had any cars near me.

Otherwise I have never seen GTP_Vagabond on the track before. If you for whatever reason have issue with me I suggest you PSN me instead of jumping on someone else's bandwagon slamming me.

GTP_rpm - I still prefer the f430 and will generally drive that, I just can't get the understeer out of the California for my liking on race tires (on S tires it is another story). As for racing you. If we are ever in a position from now on where we are battling for a position I will simply pull over and let you pass. I don't trust you or your antics on track to ever race you again.

You spent about a month, racing in a GTLM in a race that was created by us on this friendly forum, not to include the GTLM and yet you still try to take the moral high ground?

:dunce:

You mean the world Suzuka 750PP event before this most recent update? Yes, I drove a GT '06 a bit, as did many other racers. I've never driven the GTLM in the entire game.

What does that have to do with anything?

If you have a problem with me PM me, email me or PSN me, you have access to all of them. Otherwise keep your tripe about me out of these forums.

Sorry to Bollocks (I believe it was you..) for sidesweeping you on the straight to 130R. My DFP was acting up again and tried to fix it. Should have waited until the traffic was gone...

Tonight was my first night out in the F40. Man why didn't I try it earlier?? I love that car :D

Try to act a little more mature. No need to continue with this nonsense.

There are a lot of new faces here recently, so many of you probably won't remember this:

Way back during the initial release (Spec I), the punter situation was sometimes even worse than it is now because of the way the cars handled (they lacked the "super-stability" that many of you like and which others of us dislike). I started tuning some cars specifically to be harder to punt and said I would give the "secret" (it is lame and obvious, don't expect much), to the first person to correctly identify the performer of the background music in my "mad punter" video (watch the high-quality version by selecting the "Watch in High Quality" link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbzkO9hUeEs&feature=PlayList&p=F1A8DEE9508F1EC8&index=6

Nobody figured it out and then I just forgot about the whole thing.

Anyway, if you are having trouble with punters you could try this:

1) Run 1-level softer tires on the rear than on the front (for example: R1 front & R2 rear).

2) Now tune the car to reduce the understeer and make the car handle pretty much as it did before. If the car has a wing this is the easiest way to make this happen.

If you can get the car's handling back to where you want it to be, you'll still end up with a car which resists being spun when punted more than it did previously. I imagine it can be very frustrating to the punter (see the video!).

Note that I haven't tried this since Spec I, but the theory should still hold.

From reading most of the above posts a number of people have been having trouble with Thanos. I just wanted to say I have been racing him now for a while & have only good things to say about him. Every race he's in with me, is enjoyable & very close, we always end up out front & battle it out. If either of us happen to touch each other, we stop & wait and many times he's slowed down to let me win in close races, as have I, if he happened to be in the lead. So i dont know, every race ive had with him has been great, maybe he was just having a bad day or something.

+1, some of my best races in this event have been with Thanos of GTLM Squad. There was one race he even refused to draft me so as to try and beat me the old school way.;) But yeah, I've raced in 3-way battles for 1st with Thanos involved, and all 3 cars were bumper to bumper every time, within metres, and he was a champion.

I don't doubt your experiences with him, but him having a bad day certainly wasn't the case. I really dislike to judge too fast, so I won't complain about a driver because of 1 incident or a few on the same day.

However, multiple times I had to experience him overtaking me on places where no sufficient room was available, resulting in him using me as a guardrail. Most of the times this happened in cases when he was in a rush to close the gap to the race leaders.
In cases I was in the lead, he was more patient. Only every race when such a situation occured, he tried to stay as close to my rear bumper bumper as he could, until he could pass me on the straight. I don't have a problem with that, but I do with the fact he missed his braking point at least once per race. A mistake can happen, but not that often. It just kills the fun.

I don't have the idea he does it all on purpose, it's more a matter of lack of skill. Only when, after I contacted him about these things, he states that it's my own fault and I should tune my car for speed in stead of cornering (I was driving the 599...), I'm just through with it.

Thanks for the advice Hugo and RPM in regards to Thanos, the problem child. I'm going to continue racing with him, but I'll definitely start keeping my distance. As far as the people who have had good experiences with Thanos, let me tell you the guy is completely two faced and delusional from what I've recently experienced. One of his messages to me went something like this: "gtp'ers are assholes, I don't care what they think of me lol, the fastest guy from GTP respect me...that's all I care about." Damn horses ass...alright enough on Thanos lol.

I had some issue yesterday with the Thanos guy, and as Hugo said, it happened when he was trying to reduce the gap with the main leaders. I would say that a possible solution for this would be (at least until private rooms become available) to act like in Lotus Evora cup, to start after 30 seconds, only for GTPers...

Thanks to Wanna_B, UK86ze, Southslider, Colin21 for some good F40 racing just now.
Getting better - I'm down to approx 3 offs per race now. :)
Away for my beauty sleep now. 👍
