F.I.T.T. Rally and Street Tuner Challenge by MCH

Photos needed for the photo mode competition. I need one photo of each car for the photo mode competition. Let me know if you plan to use the photos posted with your tunes or if you have a different one to send to me.

If everyone can send photos by the end of your day this Thursday then I can put together the photo polls on Friday.

Thanks.

Ta,

My pics can be used from what I have posted already. I left them unedited this time. :D

In the interests of fairness, I've run DigiB's rally car again, being sure that it was at 500PP when I borrowed it and after I'd run my 5 laps.

I ran a 2:02.185 vs my original 2:01.601. I lost at least 0.5 of a sec through sheer untidiness, so make of that what you will... :indiff:

That is still a great lap! Nice drive CyKosis and nice tune DB.

Thank you, Sir. It's all the car, suits me down to the ground, smooth in everything it does.

I saved the replay of the 2:01 (who wouldn't?), I'll endeavour to internetise in some fashion. Might take a day or two, whilst I dig my camera out of whichever box its packed away in. Just watching that lap back, I bumped the apex of 11, in an advantageous way, and I was cautious through a few other turns, so there's more time for me to be made.

My skills really are mediocre, there has to be someone reading these pages that is properly quick on gravel, I want to know how fast these cars will really go, all of them...

{Cy}

Cy, you had a chance to run our pair yet? :P

Not yet Ripper, not yet. I'm making sure I've got time to run all 4 cars. Had to run DigiB's car and get my Seasonal Pickup hosted and posted, plus some other GT admin*..!!

Tomorrow night, hopefully...

* - Part of which I've failed to do!! I've taken pictures of my Focus, but failed to copy them to my PC. Fuggit, that'll have to wait until tomorrow too :(

During testing, I got my tune down to 201.1 but we will see if I can match that on a cold five lap run. I was hoping that someone would be able to break the 2 minute mark with one of the rally tunes. It might be able to be done, but it will take a super clean lap.

I'm completely fine with that time. Good run! I'd rather have a slower time run right than a faster one with what might have been the wrong settings. :dopey:

I almost did, several times. :D I found a fast car and the time I set is not the max I can do with it. I have at least a second in the first sector alone but I keep pushing it in the last few turns and lose it all. Once I'm finished I may go back and hammer it under the magic mark. As you said, it will take a really clean lap.

Krenkme - wow. All I can say is what were you thinking? Do you hate us all that much? Once I began to understand that I would have to use actual throttle control and very smooth, half steering inputs, the car began to get fun to drive. I give you credit. Tuning that thing is a huge challenge - right up there with the Yellow Bird.

I think I should give some bonus prizes centered around the Maxi 5 Turbo Rally Car.
1. Fastest lap set with this car should get something extra. Ronald is in the lead on this right now, but I am doing my best to beat it.
2. Fastest top speed at the top of the hill.
3. Any suggestions???

I just hit 82 mph at the top of the hill with Krenkme's car. I can't get my Impreza above 82.

I hit about 78 in Krenkmes and about 86 with yours Hami.

(We are talking about the hill after the long slaloming straight, right?)

Done with the rally testing. On to the street. Vroom vroom.

Yes. Tip top of the track, turn 4 after the long uphill esses.

One thing is for sure... I was laughing the entire time.

I just want to make a statement about driver's choice and how I think it should be done since the tuners are also test drivers. I have always felt a little bit funny about ranking my own tune in the driver's choice. Driver's choice means quite a bit in this scoring system, so I thought I would post what I think is the most fair way to rank our own tunes.

If my tune is in the top three on lap times with me testing, I will give it a driver's choice score as well. Most of the time we do like our own tunes. I usually give my tune the same driver's choice as where it ranks on lap times. For example, if my tune ranks 2nd for me on lap time, I will also give it 2nd on drivers choice, unless I really liked two or more cars better than my own tune. So far, I really like what DigitalBaka has done with his Celica Rally tune. I can drive that right on top of my ghost. Let's just lay out a what if and say that XDespy's tune is fastest, mine is second and DBs is third, I like DBs enough that I will probably rank my tune 3rd on driver's choice.

Just thought I would address this in the event that others find themselves in the same situation with their tune also in the top three. I guess what I am saying is don't penalize yourself by not giving your own tune a ranking if you truly do think it is one of your three favorite to drive. And, on the other hand, don't artificially rank your own tune high just to pad your points. Be honest with yourself and give it a fair driver's choice ranking if it deserves one.

Cool?

Can someone please check on Ronald and make sure he hasn't broken or sprained anything? After the way he blew most of us away during the FF rally testing I'm shocked to see that his times are actually right around the same as most of us mortal tuner sorts!:lol:

Nice job on the testing so far Ron hope that you enjoyed them all enough to volunteer to test future rally tunes we might produce.👍👍

Very difficult to control compared to some of the other entries. Most of my laps were red. The back end isn't as active as the Maxi 5 but it's a close second. Sporting around is fun and easy but hot lapping is suicidal.

Thank you Ron .👍, I know its difficult to control it , i try to make more handy but i felt i can't do more but its better than stock version if you compared with, its like a baby you need to be smoth with it don't drive it hard it will be come more wild and you can't control it .
Thank you again 👍

With Ron running the times he is, we may have hit a ceiling. I'd still dearly like to see the 2 min breached though.

Did you actually do anything to the car. I'm tempted to say it felt a little slower, but the stats don't lie. My pace was exactly the same, just my consistency that faltered :indiff:

Corners 12 and 13 really take balls to pull off.

That's a big ol'dive down the hill that one, gotta clip those corners and keep it as straight as possible. With decent enough braking from the apex of 13, I can squeeze in a dab of accelerator between 12 and 11...

I'm happy to run the car again, once I've done the quartet of Fords and decided on my Drivers Choice.

My drivers choice will be based largely on how 'good' the car feels to drive. If we were solely on tarmac, outright laptime would perhaps factor more. Laptime will factor, I suspect at least two of my choices will be fast cars, the third I'm not sure about. I've still got 2 more cars to drive, besides my own. Once they're done, I'll go back to a couple of cars and then decide.

As comfortable at a low angle drift as most cars are driving straight on tarmac. Counter-steering out if a drift is intuitive and is as easy or easier than initiating the drift in the first place. Excellent grip on the straights, allowing for great top speed. The wonderfully easy to control drifts makes taking the slaloming straight quicker than any other car so far. And it rotates around tight corners well too. How it has great low angle drift and great rotation I couldn't tell ya, but I'm enjoying it.

Nice time Ron, nice time. Sounds like you enjoyed the car, which makes me a happy chap. I'm surprised that there isn't more cross-over between drifting and rally around here. I wanted to make sure the car had enough room to move about, without bottoming out and getting sucked into the barrier at the bottom of the hill. It understeers a little offline, as I thought I'd try it online with grip reduction set to real. It drives just as well, if you move the torque bias up to 45/55. Offline, with grip set to low, it requires a 40/60 split to retain the rotation.

Thanks for your time and efforts, they're appreciated...

Oh it's a handful :D. I had a decent tune for the road car, so I knew I needed to try and tune the rally. It's not the fastest, nor easy to drive, but I hope everyone survives :nervous::dopey:

I can give prizes out if you'd like

Easy to control with alot of grip. In someone else's hands with a different driving style this car could really produce, but even more than tarmac a driver must adapt himself to the car and this one is too... off... for me.

So in conclusion my tunes don't fit your driving style, ever.

That's still a great time though, 2 secs faster than I managed while testing, and it's good to know the drive's controllable, that's pretty much what I set out to do. Thanks for the feedback 👍

Thanks to everyone for their comments.

@Despy: I don't think there is enough room for corner cutting on this track like the last one. And the track is narrower by about half.

@TrackRipper: apparently not. Sorry. I like your tunes. I enjoy them. But I am the wrong driver to get the best out of them. Maybe DBs style is more in line with yours.

Nope, just took both off share, ran through some license tests and put them back up. When I first shared it I had come straight out of the oil change, bumped the limiter and put it right on share so it may not have saved correctly since Ron was saying that the PP was showing higher. Hoping that PD will address this in a future update since this isn't the first time we've seen this happen. :ouch:

@Hami: sounds like a plan. 👍 I already know my own tune is not in the top spot but it may be top three...barely. :D

No worries! :P I think the fact that I tune everything with a DS3 may be the reason actually.

I have built the scoring sheet and will start doing live updates in a google doc. The rally car lap time points are really close with four cars all within one point of each other at the top. Driver's choice could easily shuffle the order. The points system seems to be testing out very well so far.

Let us know if you add lap times or driver's choice to your tester posts.

I finished up everyone else's rally cars yesterday. Once I run my own on a cold 10 laps I will add in the times and start on the street versions. So far I am pleased that most everyone is in the same few seconds range.
