F1 TV coverage threadFormula 1

I didn't even notice that, I'm sure when they announced this deal they said would be showing the big races live. I guess that lasted for one season. I'm not too bothered because you get 1/20 good races at Monaco but still, it's a good event to watch on TV.

We do get Montreal live this year which is a good trade off I think.

Montreal's good,monaco can be a little boring I suppose.

This is quite old news now but Sky are changing their Sky F1 channel pricing for new customers as it will be part of the Sky Sports Package from April 9th onwards: Link

Here is more interesting news, BBC have now got Lewis Hamilton as a columnist on their website: Link

Suzi Perry is shocking. I hate her. I want Jake Humphrey back.

You obviously don't remember his first few races, he wasn't exactly slick. Give her time, she is a professional presenter but still needs time to get used to the position.

In other news, highlights at 5:15am? What? Why can't it be at a time that, I don't know, people can watch it?

Yeah true, but watching her other programs she still doesn't seem like the best choice.
Jake had a really good relationship with the driver and team principles, and with Eddie and David. Somehow I can't see this season being the same in that respect.

Well that's the same thing really, it's going to take a while to build up those relationships.

At this stage, I would have to agree.

I agree with you Simon...Suzi is a really good presenter and she just needs time to settle in to her role and build rapport with her on-screen colleagues and guests...

...speaking of female presenters, does anyone know whats happened with Georgie Thompson?, Sky have released her but they havent said why and there were rumours that she will be joining BT...

Exactly, just as she did when presenting superbikes. She was very friendly with the riders by the time she left, she didn't know them straight away. It's not really any different from any job we mere mortals might take on, it doesn't matter how well you know the profession it takes time to settle in. You don't walk into a job on day 1 and leave that night feeling like you've been there for four years. It just so happens since she is a TV presenter we're publicly seeing that process.

Even for someone like Lee when she stepped in a few times for Jake she had the luxury of already being part of the BBC team and being in the paddock making transition to main presenter that little bit easier.

I would personally give her at least half a season before I judge how well she is doing.

Just watching the bbc programme now on Iplayer. What has happened to Suzi's voice, it sounds really weird compared to the gadget show, her voice seems so much lower.

Seems like a reasonably line up, not as good at 2010 when they had Martin Brundell (in my mind the 3rd best commentator after Hunt and Murray Walker), however it seems far from a horrendous group of presenters.

Give her a chance people. She was good as a Moto GP presenter.

She hasn't done live stuff like this for a while and probably just needs a race or two to get back into the swing of things.

Martin Brundle is the commentator to have, he's the reason I watch Sky and not the Beeb, I love his commentary.

Does anyone get Sky and F1 coverage via their XBox? On the home screen there was something about F1 so I clicked it and it wanted me to get Gold membership and implied that I could then some Sky content, but not sure to what extent. Seems unlikely that I can start watching their F1 coverage for just £5.99 a month, but it's rather vague.

Completely agree with you Matty, I think Brundle and Croft work great together.

You need Xbox Live, and then you need to buy a regular sky package too in order to watch online. It's not worth it.

Ah not cool how it wanted me to sign up for Gold membership before even clarifying that, but not entirely surprising either.

I was hoping for an alternative to the premium Sky Sports package Virgin Media offer, which was something like £28.00 per month last time I checked. Surely they realise that some folks just want F1 only? Is it any wonder why many people turn to B** T****nt and suchlike? :dunce:

Suzi Perry great - She was professional and informative in MotoGP - So can use that experience to good effect for F1. Jake Humpy just seemed to be too smarmy.
No Eddie Jordan - Hope he is well but it was much easier on the eye with Suzy rather than three creepy blokes in tighty whitey pants and "For a bet" silly shirts on.
Lee Mack - great pit lane work. (Odd how his voice is femine when he reports from the pits - great in Not Going Out.)
Ben Edwards Good.

We live in good times.

Ah for those great days with James Allen and his unbiased Ferrari love in sermons.
