I have everything that is offered here locally (except team/season specific channels) and it runs $180 a month. Over 2 grand a year and about all I watch is 6-8 channels...and no, we don't get FS2
I'd consider checking out Foxtel Go! just because there's no lock-in contract and then switch to the real deal if you really like it (unless your internet speed sucks). At my house we've managed to get a password for it from my girlfriend's mum, So we're pretty much getting it for free.I'm seriously considering getting Foxtel. Not because of the Grands Prix moving there, but because free-to-air television is terrible at the moment. If I do get Foxtel, then I'm going to look at the sports package, but I'm curious: how much coverage of European open-wheel championships is there? I'm thinking of GP2 and European Formula 3 among others.
Thanks for the advice, but I still don't have a dedicated internet connection - just the data available on my mobile plan and a pre-paid mobile broadband device.I'd consider checking out Foxtel Go! just because there's no lock-in contract and then switch to the real deal if you really like it (unless your internet speed sucks). F1 could be a casualty as the BBC announces cuts to its sports division: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/bbc...-snooker-ina-new-cuts-to-sports-division.html
Apparently Sky have double the ad time that ITV did as well - 15 minutes per hour rather than 7.5 minutes per hour.
I still can't fault their depth of coverage and extra programmes they put on air.
Only that "Just Drive" thing. Can't stand it.
And in doing so curtail the necessity for sending heinous threatening letters to people it thinks should be paying their TV license. I had two through after I cancelled mine, either because they're untrusting or because they're morons. It makes me wonder how many people pay for a TV license out of fear of being taken to court. It really is time for the BBC to move in to 21st century funding.
I pay £20 a month to my sister which allows her to upgrade to Sky Sports from her existing package, and I watch the coverage on Sky Go. It's not ideal, and at £20 a month it is on the cusp of being too expensive, since I don't watch much else on Sky either. I was planning to drop Sky Sports and save some money, since watching the races on the BBC later in the day is not usually a problem - but if the BBC plan to drop F1 altogether, then that would be a great shame - although I could see ITV bidding for the highlights/repeats coverage deal... bring back Dracula!I used watch Sky's F1 coverage when it originally came as part of their HD package, and thought it was very good, or at least on a par with the Beeb's coverage. The extra related shows were pretty good to. I just couldn't justify paying another £35-45 a month for the Sports Bundle now though as F1's the only thing i'd watch from it.

I like the Sky coverage but they are missing a technical expert in my opinion, I don't mind Kravitz but they need someone with first-hand experience working on an F1 car to help him out.
The only thing that irritates me about Sky's coverage is the fairly obvious Hamilton bias. Other than that, Sky's coverage (on the whole) is far more in-depth and engaging than what the BBC now offer. The show feels rushed and inadequate, more like an afterthought rather than an attempt at comprehensive coverage - I think it's definitely up there with ITV4's ToCA package in terms of setting standards for modern motorsport coverage. Granted, it might not be the cheapest option ever, but a bit of haggling will get you a very reasonable HD package deal.
I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I certainly would like to see more terrestrial coverage of the F1, but I much prefer the commentary team on Sky, I think mainly because Coulthard has the charisma and energy of a wet paper bag.
