There are legendary radroaches. Ugh.

I can't remember if it was legendary, but I killed a rad roach in an Air Force facility that dropped a double barrel shotgun that has an unlimited clip size.

Helped a lot for the first deathclaw (not the legendary one I mentioned) I encountered. :P

Home Sweet Home for my second character

Those stands, allow you to put magazines into them and they show.
The big green container stores all my power armour parts.
And a dog house for Dogmeat out to the side

tip - take out the Fusion core to the power armour when your not using it... otherwise someone will try and steal it.... if it's not guarded by Dogmeat or sentry guns etc :)

Same thing but from my first character - slightly different.
Power armour has a raider right arm

Just chilling with my dog - lighting is so atmospheric in this game

Power Armor, Can't have enough.

Yes removing the core should be done. Or leave on in, and in case of an attack, your settlers wear them. But they might get stolen. Totally worth it :D

And a look of my Fort. My house now expands over 3 floors, and goes over the garge were your first PA is stored

Forgot time while base building, and now it's late

Need help with the following:

After roughly 7 hours in, I finally break into the Institute by taking advantage of the Brotherhood of Steel. I was tasked by the Brotherhood to find Dr. Li, and hence where the trouble begins. In the story quest Institutionalized, I have to talk with her to be able to progress that plot point, but the dialog choices that I keep getting is for the BoS quest, even though I have the story quest selected. Any help guys?

The sad thing is having Fallout 4 for over a week and not having played it for even a second because my roommate is glued to the PS4 ever since we got the game...

The Starlight Drive-In is my favourite settlement so far, I've got the whole thing walled with heavy MG turrets set up all over the place. Unlike the others I've seen it gives you enough empty space to truly build what you want.

Damn this is one expensive armour piece

Also I rename all my guns to have the ammo type at the start of the name, makes for better sorting and comparo

OnZSxWF.jpg

Genius idea!
The gun list gets so confusing once you mod it.

2 different types of shotguns should be next to each other on the list not at completely opposite ends of the list cause one has a different scope therefore a different name :/

18 hours in and loving the game, the atmosphere is spot on reminds me of fallout 3 a lot, always thought new vegas lost a bit of the atmosphere that made fallout what it is.

Currently trying to get in the brotherhood of steel (they've always been my favourite) and just generally exploring.

Haven't tried any of building yet, seems a bit confusing and i want to find a favoured location first as not to spend time and resources into something I'm not 100% sure on.

From what I've seen here it looks like good fun and quite helpful for storing power armour etc.

I think energy weapons are a lot more fun now - trying out some of the mods on them. One that adds burn damage, very cool. A lot more unique effects than regular guns

Also with my 1.2Gb GTX 570 video card, I get a lot of really blurry textures. That stay blurry even when you get close. Well 2GB is the minimum recommended...

This ENB booster thing fixed it http://enbdev.com/download_mod_fallout4.htm
Once I edited the it's ini file to -

[MEMORY]
ForceVideoMemorySize=true
VideoMemorySizeMb=4096

So the game thinks I have a 4GB video card - everything looks so much sharper and cleaner.
Doesn't even stutter when doing so, but sometimes you do have to wait a bit for the higher res textures to load up
I also wacked all my view distances to max or ultra levels and it runs over 30-35fps most of the time :embarrassed:
I think my strong 6 core 3930k i7 at 4GHZ CPU allowed for that

Damn it looks so much nicer now - I've been screen capping so much stuff :D

Also turned off the depth of field in the prefs ini file - which makes even your gun look blurry.... Much cleaner looking now. But it also makes underwater look super clear :(

----

There is one part of the map where I loaded up my quick save 4 times, and everytime I'm on that bridge or nearby I get a different encounter. It's down from Arcjet Systems building

First it was 4 raiders holding up some settlers, but I died before I got to them as I was getting chased by Super Mutants from a nearby base.
On the second load, 2 Mirekurks chased and killed a settler on the bridge, which I latter killed.
On the third time I went over that bridge, there was a Mr Gutsy robot trying to enforce a curfew on me.
He said 'Please repeat, do you comply", so I said "do you comply" over and over - and then he said something and wasted me :)
The fourth time, it was super foggy and 2 super mutants were on the bridge, killed one, but got roasted by molotov cocktails...

A lot more emergent stuff happening

sweet !

I got one, it's a waste of money. The buttons don't actually work, it's just literally a holder for a phone and has a light on it :(

Wish I knew as much as some of you all when it comes to adjusting the .ini files (or even how to find them).

I'm using an AMD gpu with 4gb of vram but gpu-z shows that fallout is only using 2gb at max load. Very disappointed with how developers hate AMD and rarely consider optimizing for AMD gpus.

That said, the game looks and plays incredible. Can't wait to learn what I'm doing when it comes to building, farming, and creating secure communities.

Try this http://enbdev.com/download_mod_fallout4.htm
put the files into your fallout folder Steam>steamapps>common>fallout 4
edit the enblocal.ini file from the download so it reads

[MEMORY]
ForceVideoMemorySize=true
VideoMemorySizeMb=4096

No depth of field, means more more blurry guns when aiming

Spectacle Island is where my main settlement is at the moment. Only downside is the undulations make it hard to build on. That's if you were able to clear all the Mirelurks, including the Mirelurk Queen (and mine was a Legendary one :ill:).

Sanctuary is a close second, but I'm yet to check the Starlight Drive In.

Just remove the barrels from the water. Standing near the water whilst the barrels are there gives 10-20rads whereas without the barrels you can stand right in the middle and cop no rads. Only when you drink it.

This is about the drive in that is.

Not likely if you don't have food growing there, but best to take the fusion core out in any case.
Or drop down some sentry guns :)

But everywhere else, especially where enemies are, they can and will get in your power armour if it has a fusion core in it!
You can also tell dogmeat to stand by to guard it, or another companion

I have Codsworth hanging around Red Rocket, so he keeps the place in order

---

Also a quick tip -

if you ever dismiss Dogmeat to Sanctuary, he can be hard to find, as there are like 2-3 dog houses there in various yards, best to scrap them all and place one in the main area

Rented this last Tuesday the 10th and after playing for several days I decided to buy the digital copy with the season pass. By far the best game Bethesda has created IMO. Easily the best Fallout game and overall no major game ending bugs yet on the X1.

I currently have 48 hours played and own 8 cities. Each city has between 6-16 people. I have spent about 95% of my time just focusing on keeping my towns upgraded and happy. Plenty of beds, food, water, energy, and defenses. I have several stores that help a lot in maintaining resources. Copper is always a challenge to maintain. I am also in the process of trying to upgrade all my residents with better armor and weapons in case the town is attacked while I am gone. That is very time consuming. Even my dog has armor. Overall truly enjoying this game. Insanely addictive. Best single player game of 2015 so far. :)

That's awesome but what about the prospect of me ruining the game save? Or something else, couldn't I screw this up and permanently mess up the game?

If that were to happen would I just have to re-DL from steam?

Thanks for the heads up, I'm really looking forward to using my full GPU and not half of it.
Taking the chance now and going for it btw!

Before I get too into Red Rocket garage, I'm wondering where the best place to start a settlement would be. Maybe in Sanctuary (already doing quests to fix it up with resources and all that) but may just end up staying at the garage.
