Like I said, all I did was approach the Water Treatment Plant, I did not enter it. Which was a good thing if you say there are 8 of them. After trying to pick off one of the Super mutants with a Sniper Rifle, they rushed out of the facility directly towards my position outside the plant, only two of them. When I do get around to going back there (hopefully I am a lot more leveled up by then), I will be more cautious; thanks for the warning.
They're actually not that bad. They have high HP and heavy weapons, and they're intelligent enough to use cover and to try and flush you out, but they take damage at the same rate as your average raider, are very slow to move and very hard to miss in VATS. It's pretty easy to engage them in sequence and take one out before the next arrives if you have a decent weapon; my 10mm pistol has a hardened receiver, comfort grip and a long barrel and could comfortably hold them off. The hardest part of the fight was when two of them started working together, with one providing long-range fire and molotov bombardment to let the other get near.

Found first nasty bug.

In settlement-building mode, it's almost impossible to place an object because the object hangs up in the air rather than being at ground level.

I have managed to place a couple of plants on a roof, and two more on top of a hedge. But it's rare that I can place anything.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

Only uneven ground

Use the foundations.

I can't see the video - what is it?

Wow you guys surprise me, death claws are easy but a group of flying insects that's scary especially if one is a legendary. And coming from someone with a lv55 and the x-01 power armour.

Are you talking about the ones near Atom Cats Garage? I had my X-01 on and they were awkward.

Is it just me or does Danse sound like George Clooney?
Yes.
I got annihilated trying approach the treatment plant, I think there were two Super Mutants because I managed to kill one of them. I tried to pick one of them off with a Sniper rifle from a distance and they rushed my position, I didn't have a decent weapon at the time, only a double barrel shotgun, I backed away quickly and avoided the Molotov cocktail, killed one damaged the other but then he got in close and melee'd me , insta-death. Luckily I saved right before. After I reloaded my save I chose to take that one up another time.

Two? I ran into eight.
I am on hard difficulty and yes there are about 8 there. And it is very difficult once you get inside too. I wont spoil it but be prepared.

I am on hard and the water treatment plant was one of my first truly tough challenges in the game for me. I ended up using a very good sniper and took a lot of buffout, med x, and really stocked up. The sniper helped a lot and I also approached them from the north instead of from across the water to the east. Keep in mind I was also NOT in power armor. If you want to make it much easier, go to the water treatment plant WITH power armor.

Of course the deathclaw will be easy to you at level 55 with X-01 power armor. Many of us are still low level players. I am level 26 and on hard difficulty, and its rare I ever wear power armor. I like the challenge of being out of power armor. It is a bit easy in power armor. On hard difficulty a deathclaw will kill me in 1 or 2 hits. So yes, deathclaws are terrifying. Take off your power armor, put it on hard difficulty, and then take on a deathclaw. Good luck.

All this Deathclaw talk makes me wonder if I can really commit to modding the game to make it even harder than Survival. Most attack dogs can kill me in one bite and raiders can one shot me. Wandering in the night makes it even harder and definitely scarier. This forced me to think before attacking even a botfly. The playthrough is always stressful but it made the game a lot more fun and you will be forced to utilize whatever is there just to survive. Because of this I'm still at almost the start of the game with 12 hours of game time already.

So far I've got a couple of sets of Power Armor, and I'm trying to collect a full set of Raider power armor. But I never use them, only if it's required, Like the quest in Concord in the beginning. I don't really like the idea of the fusion core system. I feel like I constantly need to check how much power is left, I don't wanna get stuck somewhere and have to leave it behind... Even though I have around 75 fusion cores. I know it doesn't really make sense .
Didn't even use it in the glowing sea. Only wore the hazmat suit. It has very limited armor besides the radiation shielding, so playing on hard, pretty much everything I encountered was a fight for survival!

I do let my companions use Power Armor thought, Paige is rocking a nifty Hot Rod Pink T-61E

So far I have also only used the power armor when required. 3 total times so far. From what I can tell, if you have multiple cores on you, the armor will automatically put in a new core when your current core gets down to 1/100. So as long as you have enough cores on you, you don't have to worry about the armor getting left behind.
And whoa that must have been sure in the glowing sea. I got wrecked and I it was one of the few times I was actually wearing the power armor. Think I went through about 60 stim packs there. I cant imagine doing that without the armor. Congrats!

You can sell back the near empty fusion cores for almost the same price as new, so you can't really "run out".
Only sprinting and jetting about drains them fast.

But I guess it depends on your charisma and stuff. My 10 charisma female, 13 in gear, and level 1 Vendor price perk can buy Fusion cores for 220+ caps, while my average charisma dude will pay 600+ caps - ouch

The dude is at level 20 and has barely saved up 6000 caps, but he's good at crafting and has built some nice gear. And he does a lot of damage.

While I only just started with the high charisma female and she already has over 2500 caps by level 9, and everything is so much cheaper, so each cap has more buying power - double dipping! Plus she has the cap and ammo finding perks

I feel my female character is going to fair better in the long run, even without crafting or hacking ability. Levels faster as well with the Idiot Savant perk and Intelligence of 1

True about the cores. They auto swap when they hit 1/100 and then you can sell them for full price.

My level 26 character can have 10+ charisma any time I want. Generally it is around 6. I checked last night and even after buying at least 4 or 5 more of the most expensive stores, I still have around 17,863 caps. But again, I own 14 settlements so if I wanted I could double my caps by just simply going from settlement to settlement collecting and selling resources. You can actually change your stats on the fly with a little creativity. Always been able to with Bethesda games.

I am still struggling finding cryo ammo. This guy is the only person I could find with the ammo but he did not have any in stock. I bought a LOT of goodies from him last night. I heard Trashcan Carla has cyro ammo unfortunately my charisma was so high it gave me the option dialog and I ended up taking her caps. Now she will not trade with me. She actually drives me nuts. So nuts one night I saved, pulled out my fat man, and blew her away. Everyone got angry after that. So I quickly loaded my save. She is constantly annoying me now and always in Sanctuary. "Oh the Robber, I paid up so get lost". :ouch:

Took a long time but got the mutant giving me trouble. He was a Legendary Super mytant Butcher with a Targeting Quadruple missile launcher, definately not good for your health if you meet one.
So far I have not used power armour, not a big fan of them but a Hot Rod pink one sounds cool.

I cleaned it out back when I was at level 6.
Well done ,👍

I have seen someone sell cryo ammo, but not large amounts, like 6 or so. Can't remeber who, but it might have been Trashcan Carla

---

I also cleared out that Water Treament Plant for a laugh on my male character, but it wasn't a "proper" run, so I reset my save and intended to go back later to do it again, but haven't done so :)

I did it by sniping from the bridge side, under the highway pass.
Hiding behind the hill crest/pillars saved me from the missle launcher
That drew the super mutants up to my position, and with Preston Garvey we took them out OK.

Then inside, shotgun and mines did the trick on the Mirelurks

Came across my first Synth, a pure look alike of an in game character, was having dialogue and I still wasn't sure, luckily I guessed right.

Yes.

I'm sorry i didn't put it across well but my point was even with power armour id much rather face a deathclaw than a blood bug.
As of yet even on my other playthroughs i've never died to a deathclaw, why because you just have to go somewhere where it can't get you. Blood bugs on the other hand there no escaping from and it even worse if you run into 4 or 5 of them.

just also to let you know I play on the the survival difficulty. Some of the ease may be down due increased precision of a mouse on PC as i can just constantly get belly shots.

Again im sorry i didn't intend to boast. the post was aimed at being a light hearted joke about the fearsome bloodbug.

Isn't she just SO annoying!

I'm wondering if I can blow her up by reverse-pickpocketing a grenade while under the influence of a Stealth Boy in the dead of night during a storm.

Maybe she can be poisoned.

I'm hoping I eventually get a companion who'd be willing to take the whiner out!

Anything to shut her up. :grumpy:

I was honestly hoping after a while, she would forget or this issue would go away. I guess not. Sometimes she shows up at the diner. I am going to try and destroy her there next time and see what happens.

the fearsome bloodbug.
Agree with you, especially the radiated ones. You're right about Deathclaws, if you find one in an urban area you have a chance.
Had my first fail, didn't realise rescue missions had a time line, oops.
Am playing on Normal and will try Survival next playthrough, probably when DLC's start coming.

once i finished the playthrough im going to tweak the difficulty as the enemies are massive bullet sponges. i think i will tweak so i deal normal damage but they still deliver 2 times damage and health regen is still slower.

Having got over the kleptomaniac phase of the game, I'm now doing what I did in Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim.

That's to walk everywhere!

I rarely use fast travel now that I'm established, and of course, I'm finding all sorts of experiences in odd places.

It's amazing how much "stuff" there is that doesn't get a marker on the map. Not just collectibles, but buildings and inhabitants of all kinds.
I started doing this a couple of days ago as well. The only time I'll fast travel is if I need to drop off junk/gear at my settlement. I actually found 2 random Power Armors out in the middle of no where, not next to any landmarks.

Came across my first Synth, a pure look alike of an in game character, was having dialogue and I still wasn't sure, luckily I guessed right.
Are you sure you got the right one?! If they are both claiming to be the same person, how can you be so sure in the end? I ran into them too, the two dudes and one of them aiming a shotgun at the other?

You will know after you made the choice.

I cant imagine doing that without the armor. Congrats!

To be fair, I should mention that I did everything in my power to stay clear of Deathclaws and especially those annoying bloodbugs. I did take on a legendary Bloodbug at one point. It was, however inside a building, so it limited the bugs range of motion. It was mostly forced to stay in front of me...still died numerous times though :)

I made the choice, but nothing was affirming that it was the correct one. For all I know, it could have been the synth just pretending, lol.

At first didn't know it was a Synth. I came across it as I was surprised to see the person there, didn't twig it was a synth, started talking and the Synth shouted " oh crap " and legged it, so I shot it in the back - like you do.
Have not had Synth and Real face each other, must be quiet a challenge to decide.
I've now had two settlements decide not to be allied to the Minutemen as I didn't do their quests in time.

Playing a lot the last few days. :D
Tons of time building up sanctuary. 👍

Also managed to complete the main story line when siding WITH the Institute. :evillaugh:
Running a second play-through now with the intention of supporting the Railroad and probably a third run siding with the BOS.
