It is indeed Zandvoort. Awesome track which really puts emphasis on handling. Elevation changes, slow and high speed corners, difficult corners, heavy braking and mostly high acceleration. After all there are only 2 places you can really put your foot down. Love it.

Still waiting for my Elite, and I think I also need some Clubsport pedals because my wife give me a present yesterday, so I need to practice a little bit before trying a Cruden

I did not recognised the circuit.

I would cancel that order for the Elite..... Since you haven't received it yet you're so close to the CSW release. Just wait it out and just get the better wheel. just my .02 ¢

They use the same base mechanically from everything I've read. The CSR-Elite is just restricted to the electronics in the rim because of Microsoft requirements for Xbox 360 compatibility. And because of this doesn't have the the same quick-disconnect for the rims like the CSW.

Basically with the CSW, you get more variety in the rims available and more buttons to which you can assign functions on those rims but lose Xbox compatibility. But you'll be paying at a minimum $100 more for the CSW + Formula Rim (cheapest one at launch) vs CSR Elite.

If this is the case and you are referring to the CSR-E's wheel rim in particular, that may explain the sandwich construction used for it.

Are you talking about the rim being in 2 parts with that seam in the middle?

It could be. Or Fanatec was trying to save money on the rim for it and went that route.

Unless you are like most Elite owners and plan on upgrading to a gt rim when it comes out...

Yes, that's the plan :)

- The Elite will never get some rev meter, exotic or additionnal addon
- The Clubsport Wheel looks better, get the fantastic BMW GT2 Wheel and will support a lot of future addon
- The Elite is xbox 360 compatible, and it is the most versatile wheel on the market : I prefer to bet on this wheel because I am sure that I will want to play to Forza 5 on the next microsoft console.

I am not a PC/PS3 only player :)

But I am waiting for CSW reviews as well, I already love this wheel ;)

About those reviews ? Have people at least received their test units yet?

They should leave the warehouse soon I reckon. There was a slight delay but nothing serious though but rather for the better. ;)

CSW is seemless?

Is a real racing rim seemless? There is your answer. ;)

Which tea? The drinking kind or dinner?

Drink I should imagine. Yet I much prefer chocolate digestives with mine. :)

Any ways, back on topic. I'm 100% going to own one of these, yet only 50% sure on going for one of the first batch, or hanging on and get one a month or two down the line.

Everything I found out I reported thus far, but I am sure that the reviewers will find more points of attention still. Then when people get their hands on them I reckon that due too the extreme expectations at first many could be disappointed in some way. I think this is inevitable. However I am very confident that the product will bring enough new stuff to the market especially with future add ons that are still unknown. Although Thomas did mention fixed paddles and iPhone holder for telemetry etc.

The BMW GT wheel is...the Formula rim isn't.

But is it noticeable during the heat of action? As you can notice on vids it's an alcantara seem and not a sharp plastic one. ;)

As sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, somebody will bitch about it.

Yeah, but those people also bitch about their own seem most likely. lol
It is fine though as long as they factor in the price of the wheel in comparison to the price of the parts used... Quick release, alcantara and the quality of the sticks, dials and buttons, and other materials materials. Though I bet they won't due that, but you get what you pay for.

Anyway, let the reviews speak first. You guys know I love to tell you all the juicy details and inform you of everything, and I am sure Mayaman feels the same especially when his stuff arrives. However we can't until the embargo has been lifted.

If you really truely love Xbox and Forza, ypu will LOVE the Elite, plain and simple.
Edit: oh yeah and did I miss a post 50 pages back saying "talk about tea and biscuits when there is nothing new to say?" wth - ya bunch of hoots!

It's all secret preparation talk for a weekend marathon for when people get their wheels. They have to stay alive during it so tea and biscuits is the basics. lol

Update: It seems I better prepare faster and stock up on tea and biscuits... can't run out in the upcoming weeks. I still have too much writing and driving to do.

Does this mean wheels are being sent out or have even been received!?

This to me, is a product they MAY underwhelm the hype at first, but after a few years when other peripherals are released it'll be truly amazing. I just hope people realise that the CSW is an instrument to which many things can be added, and not just a wheel base with fancy wheels.

I did not recognised the circuit.

That's a very nice gift 👍

After looking at the video, i immediately searched if there was something like that within a two hour drive of my house.
Sady that's not the case, kind of odd though that cruden is a dutch company and you can't try out their product anywhere in the netherlands:grumpy:

Well if i win the lottery, i can just simply drive up to cruden and buy one LOL :)

Yes, It is very critical that software can take advantage of the new hardware. Without support CSW is like Ferrari with Lada wheels.

Which could turn into an advantage in rough terrain. Just kidding ;-)

Your're absolutely right.

Take for example the CSR Elite. There are a lot of games that do'nt work well with this wheel. If you turn the wheel into G25 mode (using the logitech drivers) you have a much better experience than in the normal PC mode

for example:

-Gamestock car
-Project cars
-Shift 2

It means that I have to finish my review before the end of the month of the pre-pre-production wheel I have, since that is the time I estimated the embargo should be lifted. Thus putting in some more hours of racing, writing, making notes... etc.

Keep in mind that in most games the defaults profile is poorly made. Thus resulting in poor FFB. This is the same with the Thrustmaster T500 in Shift 2 for example.
Project CARS FFB is being worked on for the CSW. Fanatec and SMS are working closely together on that one.

I'm going to update the firmware on my CSR tonight. Should be interesting.

EDIT- IIRC someone posted a guide to updating the firmware, but I can't find it. It is actually confusing.

EDIT 2- It worked!!!
