For real. Beta suggests that the device is actually functional. I mean, did they do any testing themselves? At all?

Look on the bright side. Thrustmaster released a shifter that did not work in GT5 as a sequential shifter, and this was a retail product that was supposed to go with the official GT5 wheel. And that development took ages!

Hi guys,

THX for the feedback. Fan speed will still be changed for the CSRE and I am pretty sure that we will remove "OFF" mode of the fan. The automatic speed is very low in FW 742 and you barely can hear it right now. It would have to speed up a bit earlier but if you set the wheel to low FFB it should always remain as silent as it is right after selecting the platorm mode. Looks like this is the better solution after all feedback which we have received for the CSRE in the last months.

What will happen with the older design wheels I do not know.

Lol, nice to point your finger on other's to defend Fanatec :)

Where is the CSS? Was it announced before TH8 RS? Help me, I can't remember...

Nevertheless I totally agree that the PS3-certified wheel (and shifter) should be much more compatible then T500 & TH8 is. G27 is a good example on how it should work.

Was not meant as defense. More like a heads up... as in it could get worse and have finished drivers that do not work fully. I know fully well that things should properly. I can take some guesses as to why this happened, but speculation won't solve the issue. I am sure there will be some new stuff... coming soon. Devs are back from holiday now. ;)

CSS was announced in the summer of 2011 via ISR. The Mr. T appearance with Jessica. I think it will be on hold for more public hyping by Thomas until the CSW and CSPv2 are out.

I totally agree with the G25/27. Logitech was always great with driver support. Although to be honest with you, since 2008 (crisis) they seem to be lacking very much in that department. The current Logitech drivers for their wheels are 2 years old now? The drivers and firmware for my expensive MX5000 desktop set do not work properly. The G19 keyboard drivers also have issues still. I dunno, but Logitech is getting crappy as well.

Hey everyone,
I just wanted share my recent experience with Fanatec Customer Service and all I can say is that I'm very pleased. Something strange happened with my CSR Elite which lead to having the circuit board replaced. I explained my issue to them following the exact instructions they provide in great detail and I was contacted in two days. So CS generated an RMA for me and I had to send my wheel for diagnosis, but they also refunded the full shipping cost the same day I shipped it out so I'm happy about that. They had it fixed in 2 days and sent back to me right away. Everything works great now and I just wanted to say thank you to the Endor/Fanatec Team for your efforts as a growing company.

I wanted to post this because I read some questionable experiences from others. I made sure I followed their instructions carefully and since then...I had no back-and-forth emails or troubles. I also didn't send them the video demonstration in HD since they request you don't send a large file video. Overall....I know they were doing their best to assist my needs.

More on the dodgy latest XBOX live update, thanks to snowowl.

"After lengthy conversations I had on Thursday (June 14) with Xbox Support, it is apparent the "current" System Update Version 2.0.15572.0 is what is messing up the behavior of the wheels, whether the Microsoft Wireless Wheel, the Fanatec products (version does not matter) or even the Microsoft Wireless Speed Wheel. Not all regions have received the update, and it may being withheld now pending investigation of the issues.

Turn 10 has already contacted Xbox LIVE's support techs, and the suggestion in the conversations I had Thursday with the support personnel was:

IF you are running Update Version 2.0.15572.0, you can attempt to clear the cache (described here: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/settings-and-initial-setup/clear-system-cache) to remove that build so you can play Forza Motorsport (or any other racing game on the console for which you use a steering wheel) in an offline mode without receiving the Version 2.0.15572.0 Xbox update. If you are in a region where the new Update Version has already been delivered, it may be offered again. Refusal of that update will not allow online usage.

NOTE: In attempting this in various testing, some people were able to successfully remove the update, while others were not - even after numerous attempts and numerous restarts of the console after performing the Cache Maintenance. Reverting to the previous Dashboard 2.0.14719.0 build, or having it currently properly installed, apparently does continue the proper usage of the wheels, including correct Force Feedback avoids the anomalies presented with the new Xbox update.

The first regionalized update from Xbox LIVE, which only pertained to background (server side) functions, is in preparation for the new Dashboard Update which is supposed to be released June 20. None of the work done in the current update brings any changes to any games, including Forza Motorsport 4, directly. There are no title updates included, even though what the background work apparently has done has had unexpected results.

Beyond this information, I have nothing more at this point. It is not Turn 10's issue to fix, it doesn't affect all Forza Motorsport 4 players, and work is being done to figure out what changes caused the issues with the wheels. Please NOTE: This is NOT an official statement from any of the parties involved, only information from investigation I did."

Hi, do you know if we can remove seperatly CSP V2 pedals from base?
I know we can invert CSR Elite pedals

The 29th these questions will be answered when the embargo is lifted. Hint, compare the csp v2 which you can see in the video Thomas posted on his blog with the original v1 pedals and notice the similarities. ;)

Considering that Sequential mode is useable via paddle shifter probably pushed the urgency (to get the mode working with the TH8RS)down. I'm not sure by your statement if you do realised that TH8RS sequential mode is now operable in GT5. Yes, it took a while but better late than never.

I am aware of this as I own all TM gear. ;)
The statement points at the fact that Fanatec issues beta drivers and firmware with features that on rare occasion do not work anymore (e.g. Ps3 mode on Raitziger his turbo s) for already working products, however TM released their shifter when it was still not completed. i.e. missing feature in GT5 for which the product was announced; which was to compliment the official GT5 wheel. So one would expect such a product to work fully at launch on that game for sure.
Although given... the CSR Elite had its fair bit of launch issues as well and I guess the same goes for the T500 at introduction. I think even the G25 had some issues at the very beginning. So it is certainly not just one manufacturer with launch issues. In fact even outside the sim world it happens. I had to return my motherboard with Intel P67 (B2 stepping) chipset for a (B3) steppingone, cause Intel discovered a defect in the chip for its new SandyBridge platform. So it happens with the biggest manufacturers.

Just thought I'd give the 742b firmware a try on my CSR since I was giving La Sarthe a blast in an R18 on FM4 whilst the real thing was going on..

I've given it a go on FM4 and GT5 and happy to report the wheel seems better to me, improved all round, and the ACL is very nice for FM4..

The only niggle is some oscillation after it's calibrated, but just needs a quick hand to calm it..

Love the newer DPR/SPR, that really improves everything for me, and I can dial in the right amount of weight, which is very useful for GT5.

anyone with a turbo S or gt2 have any luck getting the latest firmware to work with GT5?

GT2 here...

It only worked for PC, and great for it may I add! However, I lost all connectivity ability to the Xbox/PS3. I flashed it back to 681, everything was A-OK. I'll admit, I was semi-worried when it would not work right for the consoles. I followed all the steps to the letter..... But, since back to 681, fine, but, the LED enhancements were awesome! Would love to flash it back to 742 if it would work right, then sell it.......

And Get, no news on the CSS from what I know. I am pretty sure the CSW & Elite GT rim are the top priorities right now.

There's a new XBOX update ( 2.0.15574.0 ) rolling out through various regions today that from all I've read fixes the various wheel issues people experienced after the last update.

I can confirm that this update is working. I first tried it on my old Xbox Elite for a couple of hours, then on my Xbox Slim for a couple of hours with no problems. I did not get the bad update, so I can cofirm that the new one has the same feel as Dashboard 2.0.14719.0

I can also confirm this. Hadn't even bothered to turn my Xbox on until a fix was released. As a result tonight was the first time I have given the new 742 beta firmware a go. It's awesome, gives a beautiful feel in FM4.

I have put in 30+ hours with this new firmware now and I really like it. I have left DPR setting OFF, but I now move SPR between 0 & 4 depending on what car I'm using, or what I'm doing(auto cross or hot lapping).

The difference in some cars is massive, some feeling more subtle than they used to, and some much more brutal, Forza 4 feels like a new game. I feel better understeer and oversteer effects, and an amazing feel under braking. I've yet to try it on my PS3, infact I don't care how it feels on the PS3 because I don't want to stop playing Forza, it's that good.

Also, after a good 5 hours testing (constant hot lapping) with the new Xbox update today, I noticed that my fan was running at a higher speed, I don't know when it kicked in, but it ran at this speed for a while. The reason that I didn't notice when it kicked in was because I have a noisey desktop fan running beside my wheel as I was worried about the fan issue with the new firmware(was just being cautious).

I managed to get a No.1 position on the first auto cross event at the Nurburgring about an hour ago, so this firmware is definitely working for me.

So, thanks Thomas/Fanatec for the best firmware so far (well in my opinion anyway).

i have a question, i have a nice cockpit and still waiting for csw, i dont have enough (300 mm x 270 mm) place for installing CSP inside cockpit (homemade), i have to remove it (pedals) separatly like many G27's users usually do
dscn1434-2935d1a.jpg

i expect more from the CSR Elite pedals but still wondering if it is possible

The CSR-Elite pedals can be removed from the base and mounted however you want. I did it with mine and it was VERY easy. They are cheaper than the CSP's as well, and still have the load cell brake.

^ I was wondering if I should get the Elites. I really wanted a set of the original clubsport pedals but they're gone :(

Also if I reverse mount them the extra "sturdyness" of clubsport pedals shouldn't really make a difference since they would either way be bolted into my rig.

I haven't play enough with older firmware but with 742b, GT5 is great (much much much... much better than my G25). And Forza 4 : Ho My God ! Weight transferts, losing/recovering grip, I am close from what I can feel in a real car (I said close :) ).

It was very hot last evening in Quebec, and the fan was quiet, and the wheel was not even hot.

I love it more than yesterday, less than tomorrow. This wheel makes me happy :)

Have a nice day !
