How did you like your birthday gift? Is it something you like doing again?

My wife heard about Vortex Racing in Montreal. It was really interesting, I was very focused (and I think hours spent on GT5 and FM4 help a lot ;) ).

I feel that it is not harder than trying to beat some laps records in our favorite games. First laps, I have made no mistakes, but when you try to push a little bit... -> grass

The simulation is not really beautiful, it is the mix between triple screens, movements and pedals/wheel that makes the experience so great.

I hope I can do it again. Formula 3 is a good start, Formula 1 is very hard.

Sounds like a lot of fun. :D

Most simulator are graphically behind on modern race games.

The odd thing the cruden is a dutch company, but there is no way to try it out here in the Netherlands:tdown:

I have tried a Cruden yesterday, nice rig, but I was not blasted by the wheel, my CSR Elite gives me as many informations as the big servo motor, which is smoother (but should I say I like my Elite more than the professionnal simulator ?).

I think you're smart enough to know that in such comparison, there's just too many subjective elements involved to make it unequivocal.

Yes of course, I have never driven a formula 3 so maybe it is really easy to turn the wheel. I was more disappointed by the lack of feedback but I also now that I use too much ffb force in order to easily feel grip lose when playing fm4 or gt5 with my elite.

After few hours back on the Elite, I realize how smooth was the Cruden/ Direct Servo Motor wheel was (no cogging effect at all, and of course you do not feel the little belt teeth).

I am waiting for the Leo Bodnar Wheel review a lot. I am afraid to want one (do not tell the wife...)

I am not a Fanatec fanboy, I really love my Elite and my Clusport Pedals, I still like a lot my G25.

Just trying to say that an Elite is really a nice wheel for a decent price.

Ps:

Nice !!!

That's the way when upgrading. Often, the upgrade can feel like a letdown. Then you get used to the upgrade as the new normal, and when you go back to the previous device, you realize how much worse it really is. That has happend to me with all kinds of things: 3rd generation iPad, CSR Elite, cars...

Just thought I would chime in here and say that the Fanatec Clubsport Wheel is without a doubt the absolute best sim racing accessory purchase I have ever made (I say accessory, because triple screens is better but I don't count that in here).

It has made my sim racing experience more enjoyable, and that is all I look for when making purchases like this. I'm not trying to be the fastest, I'm trying to have the most fun possible, and the fun factor of being able to easily and quickly swap between wheels combined with the feel of each wheel (near perfect) is amazing.

I love my Fanatec CSW. No amount of trolls trying to convince me of how bad Fanatec is will ever change that

I'm hopefully building my new rig this weekend been very busy. Still haven't even used my csw yet. Besides testing that it works

@ Superbike, its good to hear something positive from someone with a csw. I wish more owners would chime in with their views on their new purchases, although it is possible that 97% are enjoying it so much they can't be bothered to lol

I've said this before, but I will chime in again :)

CSW base 👍
F-1 rim 👍
BMW GT2 rim 👍
Clubsport pedals V2 👍

I'm loving the immersion of all my new gear! It all works very well and aside from the first BMW rim being DOA, but replaced super quickly by Fanatec :) I'm having a blast.

If you have the means I highly recommend it :)

^^^ me three. But I want to keep that to a dull roar, lest I'm accused of being just a fanboy, lol. Anyway, I've said it before, but I do really feel much more like I'm driving something more "real" (yes, I know it's still a sim, but the feel is on another level) and that's my personal aim- immersion and fun. The CSW is the best I've tried at that, and I've got two spare Xbox consoles, three copies of FM4 and an Elite that will be looking for a new home as a result.

paskowitz
CSW base :D
F-1 rim :)
BMW GT2 rim :) with a little bit of :indiff:
Clubsport pedals V2 :D

This is my take. IMO the GT2 rim is tough to judge. On one hand it is awesome to hold, looks fantastic, and is the rim I use the most. On the other hand I think the Alcantara assembly (gluing/stitching vs full stitching) and paddle shifter feel/click (very little tactile or auditory feedback. CSRE is better) should be reworked. I also think the price is a bit high (I wonder how much it would have cost unlicensed).

It is also import for people to remember that problems with the wheel rims do not make the base any less of a product (given that there is a choice). The wheel rim is technically an accessory.

I really hope Fanatec comes out with a lightweight, low cost, simplistic gt/drift style rim. 2 buttons (like G25), no paddle shifters (remember there is a stationary paddle shifter attachment coming as well as the CSS), Alcantara, hard plastic, CSRE style LED tuning menu, and limited use of metal (QR system only). A circular rim that can transmit the full force of the CSW. All around $100-125. The Delta Wing of wheels. Less materials, less price.

This would be perfect for sim racers who are a little tighter on a budget and already have some gear of their own.

Also, where is the G25/G27 pedal adapter for the CSW?

I've seen a couple of other people mention the paddle shifters on the GT wheel referencing the quieter function. For me this is a big plus! My wife used to complain about my "clicking" keeping her up at night but now she can't even hear it. I think they've reached a good balance.between feel ans noise.

I have to agree w/ paskowitz on the paddles. I like the Elite better in that regard. I hope the BMW rim wears well, we'll see. It does feel fantastic to me though.

Also, where is the G25/G27 pedal adapter for the CSW?

The adapter status does seem a bit confusing since the CSW Base's current product web page states the following under the Compatibility heading:
"G25/G27 pedals (with optional adapter)"

But neither the Adapter's or Adapter Cable's product pages list the CSW at the time of this posting.

Be nice if this is clarified, the guy who bought the CSW wheel I tested (pg. 362) before I dispatched it to him in a far away land was confused and purchased one along with his CSW.

I believe Mayaman stated in his CT that he could not get his to work with CSW, but I cannot remember if you did so in your CT paskowitz. Perhaps a future firmware update will rectify this?

Any info that sheds further light on this would be appreciated.
