Yea, I think the invite system works. That's not the main issue, I think it should work as follows:

Open up sales to all:
Those with invites pay 499
Those without pay 599

Send out orders in batches of x with priority to invite only users.
For every batch sent out, cross reference the invite codes and if anyone didn't cash in an invite code, fill their place in the order (not price) to one user from the non voucher orders.

This way for example, I could place my order now with fanatec (as a new customer who wants a product to use not to sell) with an expected delivery date of jan 2015 but with the potential to be selected as a "filler" for anyone who didn't use their code and take their place in the queue (but still paying full price).

The only reason I bring this up with fanatec is last year I tried to buy a wheel from them, there Is a x post of this elsewhere. It wasn't a pleasent experience. The emails I had with customer service were really bad. They refused to answer simple questions re: warranty, product specs, compatability, deleivery, returns etc and become really rather rude, I just wanted to ensure I bought the correct products as £2000 is a big deal to me, particularly for a games accessory package.

I complained to fanatec and nothing was done. I therefore did not buy/spend my £2000 with them as I was not confident in dealing with them, particularly with all the horror stories online, and instead invested my money in a new camera (70D plus a few L lenses etc).

I had many conversations with friends online and afk and I never really heard anyone have a positive thing to say about the company or the quality control of the products including weak motors, items dead on arrival, customers having to pay to return dead on arrival items etc.

I never gave it a second thought after I bought my 70D and began saving for a new solution, such as a steam machine (or console) plus rig, whatever was best.

Now 12/18 months later I am faced with a similar situation.
Alienated by fanatec, scalpers selling their products on eBay but not allowing a genuine new customer to purchase the product? Making me wait another 3 months before I can order, therefore making me think I'll maybe upgrade my home theatre and maybe purchase a sim rig another year... Or buy from an ebayer?

But this means again fanatic lose a £2000 sale just to get a 499 euro sale to someone who is selling their product on eBay?

The invite system is good, I genuinely don't disagree with it. But I see this as another way to alienate new customers again. I think it's not doing them a great deal of justice with new potential customers as their Facebook seems full of negativity.

It's just a wheel, so it's no big deal. And since buying my 70D I have traveled to Italy, Iceland and Scotland on short trips taking photos. So thomas did me a favour in a way as I would not have have the funds to do all that if I had spend that money at the time.

But I feel that by December, I (and likely a few others) will likely walk away and buy something else I need. Therefore meaning, yes, Thomas might sell 10,000 wheels at 499 euro and some of those customers sold them on eBay for profit.. While Thomas yet again loses out on new business of bigger sales, more customers, buying more than just a wheel base, and assisting in improving the overall reputation of the company.

I know many have had a good experience with fanatic, but it can't be denied that if you google them, the overwhelming majority seem to give them a bad wrap which could be improved by demonstrating to new customers just how far you have gone to make a difference.

But what do I know, I'm not running a business, so I suppose he knows something I don't :D

Edit:
It's just my opinion (which is meaningless to the world and I understand that), but I just was interested in how/why Thomas came to the conclusion that this was a good idea?
It's not a hate post or flaming for an argument etc. I just wanted to understand his reasons, because I am unable to see any real positivity in this decision (genuine verified consumer or business benefit), which is possibly why I'm not in business and he is :D

It's a demand thing. There simply is not enough capacity to produce the product fast enough and if the preorder was open it would mean that the delivery times would be ridiculously long.

I can understand the logic in this, there is going to be plenty of opportunity to sell the base at full price once supply ramps up - I don't think they should be worried about demand - and the preorder phase is done with. Meanwhile, existing customers are kept happy.

I can definitely understand the frustration of not being able to order it, but at the same time, if there simply is no stock and you would have to wait anyway, it's better that they don't take your money now and make you wait half a year or more, as I think it's best if preorder wait times are kept to a minimum. A lot can happen in that time, people change their minds etc.

You are better off having the money in your account earning interest and ordering the base when it becomes available to non Fanatec customers (likely only a few months).

I have really wanted Project Cars for quite a while now but getting angry and offering sales advice to them saying that I have the money now and if I can't buy it now I'll buy something else instead isn't going to work. People ARE going to buy it when it goes on sale, so I don't think they should be worried about people that are getting impatient as that just shows that the demand is there for when it is released.

Hey guys, anything about CSP V3? I'm refreshing my setup and was going to buy CSP V2, but read in one of the threads that a newer version might be introduced in near future. Is that true?

Honestly, outside of going hydraulic, I do not see a massive improvement for the CSPv3. If you replace the springs and oil for stiffer replacements the CSPv2s become just about as good as any reasonable sim racer would need.

I could see something like a two shock setup for the brake (a la that Japanese moder), with smother action (less moving resistance), maybe the option to invert the pedals and possibly adjustable throw length. Anyone else have any bright ideas?

Only Amar knows :)
He speaks about V3 teased but I did search a lot and did not found anything...

...because there is nothing you can find. We never mentioned anything about a CSP V3 because there is nothing to mention but I guess it makes him sound like an insider and spices up his review a bit ;)

Quick answer: No

are the codes for all Fanatec customers, I bought a CSR,pedals and a shifter set from them over 2 yrs ago. I have not seen any email at all, not sure if I qualify for a code our not.

All Fanatec Webshop customers will get a code sooner or later. If you are not a Fanatec customer yet, you can ask your friends which own fanatec equipment if they plan to use the code.

now if we could get some news on the xbox rim so i can get it preordered to make sure i get both....and if this xbox rim will still be 100% compatible on pc. can't have a v2 without a rim now!

+1 on more details about an XB1 rim.

I agree the CSP V2's are pretty good and was only just saying today that I wasn't keen on any of the more expensive pedals over mine.
I inverted the CSP V2's on day one. Also did the shock/spring mod and had our friend @Mr Latte over to test the rig today and he loved the stiffer brake.

He also loved the CSW V2, I'll be keeping mine too. It seems rock solid so far
The TH8 will be gone come Wednesday, when the CSS finally arrives :D

It is not official but it seems that you will be able to buy a PS4 rim. The pedals will then be compatible. A lot of us are waiting for the official ps4 support announcement I believe.

CSW V2 base ordered 10/08 :) cant wait, but at the same time i still need to purchase a steering wheel for it as well as the CS SQ shifter.

@Carson79 wish i saw your set up earlier, i just recently reverse mounted my CSP v2 on my obutto ozone, and was looking for different pedals. Love those sparco pedals, but i already bought the DSD tilton style pedals :(

Found out the obutto can reverse mount CSP very easily using the bolts for the pedal tray bracket bar

Mail from Fanatec... It seems I will not able to order a rim before they send me my new wheel base in order to lower shipping cost... Thanks to the guy who did not pay my CSR Elite... I hope he is enjoying a free CSR Elite, I save a lot to get it and was hopping that selling it will pay my 918 rim.

First and last time I use eBay...

just got my invoice as well, funny thing is... the v2 is on it for quantity but the css sq shows zero.... haha the v2 is going to ship before the css sq.. gotta be kidding me!

i guess i need to buy a rim but damnit i don't want to spend $400 on a rim >_< that's almost as much as the base.... the bmw one is $250 of course but ugh...decisions...and oval is backordered till dec

what to do?

That sucks mate, although I always wait for payment before sending anything.

Yeah I should have waited for the payment but I misunderstood what "sold" means and eBay sent an email explaining seller will have money when the object was received by the customer. So I understood that I had to send my CSR Elite to get the money.

It sucks but I prefer think about the fact my parents offer me a CSW V2 for Christmas, and that I will be able to buy a rim next year. Some can not even think about having access to Fanatec gears... I will have the time to look at my base ;)
