Guys, there is a new beta driver available. V181.
It might help with some issues you guys are having if any.

Also for those who use the 'Fanatec Clubsport USB Adapter' so as to use the CSS as a standalone shifter, there is a new firmware (V1.6) included that resolves issues with A) an unselectable reverse, B) not memorizing calibration.

No luck. I tried 115, 177 and 181. For a minute I thought 181 might have fixed it, but I was wrong. Thanks for the suggestion, though. The shifter works great in any car/track combo that doesn't require more than the first 4 gears, and I like it enough in those situations that I'm currently thinking I'll give one more replacement a try.

I received the replacement CSS SQ from Fanatec today. It looked like it had been immediately transshipped from China.

I hooked it up. It calibrated and accurately selected all gears both up shifting and down shifting. Everything is working as it should. I went back to running the Miata Roadster at Bathurst in time trail mode. I had posted a further improved time with the paddle shifters while the CSS SQ was off for replacement. I really didn't expect to match that time with the shifter but not only did I match it I beat it by over 1 second.

GT6 remains very demanding regarding the engagement of neutral, the accelerator and the gear shift. I still end up in neutral more than I would like but gradually I am getting a feel for it and expect the blown shifts will gradually disappear.

There are advantages in being able to down shift multiple gears, and then engage the clutch to accelerate out of a curve. Finally I can do that with the shifter without think about whether the gear will engage or not.

I am very happy with the shifter at this point and was pleased with the support from Fanatec. It wasn't a hassle to get the replacement, it just took time.

Just ordered one mate.... to France. ;-)

OH excellent! Thank you for your order. Unfortunately, the post doesn't pick up here until Tuesday due to the Monday holiday. Once it ships out I will be sending you an order confirmation, etc. :)

Guys, there is a new beta driver available. V181.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it out when I get home.

I am having the same shifting problem as everyone else. I can confirm that it is a problem with the USB adapter. If I use the CSS with my Fanatec GT3 RS wheel it works great. I've been using it for 3 weeks and NO missed shifts. If I use the Fanatec USB adapter, it mis-shifts right away.

And YES, I have recalibrated it many times to no effect.

Sadly no, 181 with the firmware update did not fix the USB adapter.

I found that my problem is very reproducible too. If I pull the shift knob right then place in 4th gear, it will read as 6th gear. If I pull the shift knob right then place in 4th gear, it will correctly read 4th gear.

It sounds very much like a loose sensor problem, but I don't think so because the shifter works fine plugged into my GT3 RS wheel.

The TH8RS is a great piece of hardware imo. i used to have one...then sold it when I got my CSR elite... ANd now just rebought one with the SFA1 adapter. that's how much I love this thing.

Only problem was with GT5 sometimes not changing gears for some reasons... never understood why. I know it wasn't hardware related because I could see the gears changing adequately...but the gear would not be "IN" as if I pressed the clutch... when I did not.

Anyone has this problem with GT6 ?

Guys, can I confirm that the Clubsport shifter works fine with GT6?

Feel free to confirm it by yourself if you so desire. ;)

From my point I can confirm it works, but only as a 6+R H box. This is due to the fact that the G27 shifter only is 6+R as well (which the wheel emulates in PS3 mode).

Standalone with the Fanatec Clubsport USB Adapter it won't work on the PS3 and in GT6.

Bought myself 5 meters of custom made flat black 6P6C straight cable for the CSS SQ.
This works like a charm and I can reach the back of my case now. So I can just disconnect at the shifter end while keeping the USB adapter plugged into the back of the PC.

The supplied cables are way too short and only are for connecting the shifter to a Fanatec wheel of your picking. At least it would be too much of a stretch for most even with the longest supplied cable when using the USB adapter.
I think offering longer cables by Fanatec would be nice, however... this 5 meter custom made one didn't even cost 5 euros.

For those who wonder. I went to a local store called Okaphone here in Groningen, The Netherlands. It's an electronics specialist store.
I don't know if they ship internationally or if they are willing to make you guys custom cables, but here is the link.

I wanted to extend mine so ordered a 6P6C extension piece and some 6P6C cables but the shifter didn't work :( I assume I need to ditch the original cable from the wheel and just use the extension direct from wheel to shifter?
I looked at the plugs and the Fanatec one is wired differently from the standard cable but I assume plugging just the extension into the wheel wont matter as all pins are wired on the cable..do you know what I mean?

Like I said mine is custom made to be a "straight wired 6p6c cable of 5 meters in length". Having a straigth cable refers to how the wires are hooked up.
So you need to get yourself a straight cable and be sure to double check that. Or simply get 6P6C pliers and 6P6C connectors and put some new connectors on your cable. Keeping the same color pattern as on the fanatec cable.

Thanks mate, I'll have another look tonight :)

EDIT - grrr I see the issue I think. The donuts sent me 4 pin extension blocks and Fanatec use one of the outside pins :( I didn't bother looking cos I had ordered 6P6C and of course the pins are small so I hadn't noticed anyway.

Steve,

The actual pinout doesn't matter as long as it's wired like this: (Like logiforce said, it's called straight through)

Connector 1 pin 1 --> Connector 2 pin 1
Connector 1 pin 2 --> Connector 2 pin 2
Connector 1 pin 3 --> Connector 2 pin 3
Connector 1 pin 4 --> Connector 2 pin 4
Connector 1 pin 5 --> Connector 2 pin 5
Connector 1 pin 6 --> Connector 2 pin 6

I'd make them sometimes for people but it's not really cost effective for people outside the US. Just search online for a RJ12 straight through cable. Make sure it has all 6 wires.

Yeah I got that..but the people I ordered my 6P6C extension blocks sent me 4 pin ones so no good. I was going to use the Fanatec cable in situ as it's awkward getting to the back of my wheel as the screen is across the front :)

I should expand on what I'm doing really as it sounds like I'm being dopey ;)

In my new SuperFOV build I'm having a gear 'box' either side of my seat so I can switch between left and right hand drive :) I ordered 2 x 6 wired RJ12 cables (which are fine) and 1 splitter to split the signal from the wheel to the shifter. What I will do is have a RJ12 by each side so when I switch sides I just plug the right cable in :) But the shippers sent me 4 pin splitter and not 6 pin so that's where my issue is as I had planned on using the original cable from the wheel into a splitter first. Now I will have to get another 6 wire cable which means I have to wait again..and no one likes waiting :D

I noticed the CSS was either put back or sold out.
I had hoped to order one next week, when it looked like they would be in stock.......I doubt I'll have to pre-order.
Not a big fan of pay now get it sometime though
