Yes the DD Pro wheel works, it’s the DD Extreme wheel that doesn’t work on the other bases like CSL DD or DD Pro
Cool! Yeah I never tried because I thought I heard someone say on the Famatec forum that it wasn't supported. Maybe they were talking about the DD extreme wheel on the Pro base and I just misunderstood that convo.

That's actually great to hear because the Pro wheel is a lot smaller and even though the shape isn't right, it would be what I would use with some open wheelers until I get a smaller F1 style wheel.

As of now I just have DD Extreme Wheel, WRC wheel, DD Pro wheel, and getting McLaren GT3 tomorrow. But I think the Pro wheel is smaller than the GT3.

Looks like I need one more QR2 LOL

I think the dd pro is 285mm, which is the same as the f1v2 yoke, and the mclaren 300mm and ddx are 300mm’s.

Any particular reason why you went with the P1V2? When I first got the DD+ I tried my DD Pro wheel on it and it felt really weak. Once you feel that high torque it’s hard to go back to 8Nm :D

With the free metal QR2 and free shipping I went ahead and got the R300 and CSL hub bundle. I really only want the wheel but the wheel alone is $150 while the wheel bundle with the CSL hub + QR2 metal is $200 so it really is a no-brainer to get the bundle. With the metal QR2 it will work in high torque mode too :)
Well I got it for very little cash I paid 80€.
And I absolutely dig its ergonomics.
It just feels so much better than the DD Extreme Rim to me.
I don't mind it being limited to 8NM.
My FFB Sweet Spot is between 6 to 10 NM.
I mostly drive Sports Cars and occasionally GT3/4 Cars and 8 NM feels absolutely enough to me.
GT7 and Motorfest are the only games I play.
Overall I'm very pleased with the Rim.
It looks great it feels great to my hands and the FFB Detail is very well communicated.
I had to adjust some settings compared to my McLaren GT3 Rim to get a similar level of detail but now it feels spot on.

It looks very similar to the WRC wheel. Looks like the same wheel actually with different gfx and wheel rim covering. I like the WRC wheel a lot, it has a nice solid feel to it when driving, nice big shifters too. Not bad for the money.

I just got the Mclaren GT3 today. I thought it had a defect right out of the box. I see these crazy shiny spots all over it. After making the vid it looks like they might be placemarkers for stickers.. but are they usually that bright and reflective?

Just wondering if anyone who has the wheel knows if that is normal or if my dots are more reflective?

Congrats on your McLaren Rim.
It's an amazing Rim you will definitely love it.
I got me a second one too a few weeks ago.
My old one is still in use but in case it breaks anytime I can immediately replace it.
That Rim is extremely durable.
For 199€ it's an absolute bang for buck rim.
And don't you worry about them shiny spots, it's absolutely normal.

Thanks! Yeah I'm very pleasantly surprised at how much nicer in person it is, almost shocked. It's sweet!
I don't know why in pics and vids it just doesn't look as nice to me. It feels very nice in hand as well.

Thanks for the feedback, I was hoping I didn't get one with a minor defect.
Can't wait to install the QR2 and test it out!

Confirming those shiny dots are normal. A great wheel for the price. I changed my paddle with SimMakerz aftermarket, it works well, but it's not as good as Fanatec magnetic shifter on F1 V2.5. When I bought mine, buttons rattled a bit, so I added some this pads under the buttons to remove slack. However, I noticed more recent version of V2 wheel buttons do not rattle, so I guess they fixed it for more recent production versions.

It's my go-to wheel. Not to brag, but got mine signed by Lando and Oscar last year, I'm sure it gives me tenth or two because of it :D

Enjoy your wheel BWX!

Thanks I will enjoy it! I was half expecting to be disappointed for some reason.
But nope.. it seems super nice, especially for the price.

Wow that's really cool you have those signatures, especially on that wheel! Constructor champions again too, in an epic season.
Seems like that would make it worth quite a bit more money but I'm sure you'll never sell it. I wouldn't. I'd put it in a glass box on display and buy another one to use.

you will see she is really good. Very pleasant handling. I do not regret this purchase for 1 week and especially for having followed the advice of this community :gtpflag:

Thanks! Yeah can't wait to install it. Very busy next few day, LOL. Can't wait to try it out!

Yeah, the McLaren is by far the best bang for the buck in the current lineup.

I had one until a week ago, sold it to upgrade to the new GT3 Endurance.

Even though it's great out of the box, upgrading the QR and shifters takes it to a whole different level, and also, the mandatory button rattle fix, and it's golden!

Vule, did you 3D print the bracket and made the cables yourself? or purchased it from Etsy? I'm also considering going to Fanatec shifters. My SimMakerz shifter is mis-shifting so if I can't get trigger/button harness from SimMakerz, I'll probably go your route (I had SimMakerz mag shifter for nearly 2yrs, they've been good though).

Also, for your GT3 Endurance wheel, have you tried printing decal label on it? Thanks.

Thanks BWX. Yeah, it's pretty cool to have McLaren wheel with driver signatures. It probably be worth something, but it'll stay with me for awhile :). I hope to get GT3 Endurance signed as well if I ever get the chance, wheel's empty canvas begs for notable signatures.

Very cool. My only regret is that I didn't get one sooner!
I'm going to have to copy your setup! I have a metal QR2 to install so that's a good start. 🤘

Edit- and congrats on new wheel! Those things look like a pretty nice step up.
I was going to get one but figured I could upgrade after I get a smaller F1 style wheel.

Yeah, I have a friend that has a 3D printer and I sent him this file:

It came out great, I only had to drill out the QR mounting holes just a bit more, but it was a piece of cake. Take note - if you're going the metal QR1 route, you'll have to file the inside of the adapter a bit, but it's also a 5 minute job.

Regarding cables - it can be a bit tricky, you can order some adapter I believe, but I did it myself, cut the wires from the magnetic shifters, measured the connectors with a multimeter and found out what cables give the signal when the shifter is pressed, and just connected it to the original McLaren 2-cable connector.

Nope, not yet, I'm loving the clean brushed look without any stickers, but I may try in the future :)

Thanks Vule, really appreciate the information. You're quite handy 👍

My endurance gets delivered today, hopefully no missing box(s) or faulty gear (I have bad track records with quality fanatec gear out of box, 3 RMAs in 3 different devices on day1). Fingers crossed.

I'm partial to provided Fanatec decal print designs (though I appreciate that they do provide some). I'm hoping to design my own if I can workout the size.

I'm curious if there is any reason not to buy the Xbox/Microsoft version of the endurance for less money, to use with the PS5. I can't see a reason why not...

Yup for $30 less you get Xbox compatibility and 4 button clusters (worth $60 on their own) that you can use on two Podium hubs.

If you get the Podium version it’s $30 more but you do get the APM but lose Xbox compatibility.

You can add the APM from Simube for $100 to the Xbox hub but on a DD+ the top paddles still do not work on PS5 and PC. The top paddles work when used with a Podium hub

Perfect response. Thank you. I guess for the little money it's probably worth it to have the apm with the podium as I'll never Xbox. I'm just a little cheap. 😂

If you think you’ll get another wheel in the future, then the Clubsport hub version of the Endurance wheel would make more sense.

You can buy a Podium hub from Fanatec for $150 and APM from Simube for $100 for a total of $250. Then mount your Endurance button module and wheel to it and mount a new wheel to the Clubsport hub that you originally bought. To buy the Clubsport hub separately would cost $320 or $400 when bundled with a wheel

I've already got a formula wheel 2.5x that I got on sale last black Friday and I have a Clubsport RS so honestly I wouldn't need anything else and this would just be because I like the size and form for a daily driver wheel.

I appreciate your insight very much here.

Sounds like you have a wheel for pretty much everything. Maybe there’s room for a 350mm wheel like the Fanatec Classic or Momo Prototipo (the real wheel the Fanatec Classic is based on) for vintage/classics but I guess you can still use the RS 320 for those :)

I literally fell asleep in my rig last night trying to get the button bindings working on the McLaren GT3 in GT7. 😆

I finally realized you have to use the GT DD X layout and change the mappings there.

I guess that's one downside for this wheel in GT7... un-bindable buttons, dials don't work, not enough buttons overall, and no L2 or R2 (I think).
I've been spoiled with the amount of mappable buttons on the GT DD Pro and GT DD X.

I like the way the little red switched control the MFD though.

But it's still very nice driving wheel. Just gonna take some time to get used to it.

You're right BWX, GT7 game itself does not integrate McLaren GT3 wheel very well, you have to use GT DD Pro/X. Same goes for Formula v2.5 unfortunately, even though there's actually a Podium wheel in the game that is exactly the same.

You'll get used to it pretty quick. You're also right about L2/R2, so you'll have to use little red MFD toggles for fuel/TC/BB etc.

Good to know! Thanks. Yeah I think i can work around the issues. I did not know about the Formula v2.5 though, that's unfortunate.

Having problems with GT3 Endurance wheel out-of-box :grumpy: Not the experience I was hoping for... troubleshooting on day1 instead of enjoying.

Here are my observations and issues. I'm not sure if these are FW or known issues.
  1. Left analog switch, axis is reversed in GT7 game. Look left = it goes right, Look up = looks down. In Fanatec driver in PC, analog is registering correctly, Left = left. Not ideal for GT7 gaming
  2. not sure if related to firmware, but left analog switch does not center after rebooting the base, you have to move it around for it to center
  3. During GT7, while racing, buttons all go numb randomly and none of them respond. Even rev meter LED & speed display are stuck static. Only way to recover is to reboot the base
  4. Not sure if this is related to FW, I had some mis-shifts on right/up-shift. It's very rare, but it happens. It may be related to buttons going offline, not sure. Need more testing
  5. Tried to update FW for Podium HUB to 6, but it failed to update
  6. Maybe nit picking, but Rev LEDs are super bright, almost distracting IMO. Not sure if there's a way to dim it
Here are FW info. Again, I could not update FW, going to try with Driver 462 tomorrow
  • Podium hub FW: current = 2, available = 6
  • Button Module Endurance: current = 11, available 24
@Vule what FW are you running on your DD+ Base, and your new GT3 Endurance? Have you experienced anything I noted above? Thanks!

@TSXChef wow man, that sucks. I have non of those issues, I'm running the 464 latest driver with all the components updated to the latest FW, I'll check later for exact versions. Everything works as it should, left analog stick direction is OK, no misshifts, nothing.

Only "issue" if I can call it that - the triangle button sometimes acts as a circle but only in main game menu, it's a known bug that is supposed to be fixed in the next FW update. For example I want to open a dashboard and it goes back to the start screen. Or I want to measure PP after changing the car settings and it goes back out of the garage. But in game, while racing, I assigned that button to hazard lights and it works properly every single time.

I remember people complaining on Fanatec forum about those issues. I think you need to update FW.

What I do after a lot of trial and error is completely uninstall all Fanatec drivers from PC and then reboot.

Then install just the driver. Then reboot machine again.

Then after that connect wheel, install updated FW on base and WQR without wheel connected.

Might be good to reboot after that but I didn't last time.

Then connect wheel, then update FW on wheel.

Then reinstall Fanalabs. I never reinstalled fanalabs. I will eventually but I mostly play on PS5 lately.
This is on Win 10 64. I guess there's other issues that can pop up with Win 11 sometimes.
