Did you play Activision's "Enduro" on the Atari 2600? I still remember sitting in front of the TV playing that for hours. I got to the point where I mastered it--I could play indefinitely without losing.

Lol.. of course! The engine sound was amazing wasn't it? lol...Check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiweyhh4ov8

Think racing games come a long way since then? lol..

If you think about it, it's awesome that we have experienced the past times of sim/racing games and video games in general because we can never really take today's technology for granted and we love every minute of it! 👍

You wouldn't believe how the GT3 performs with iRacing! It's a hole different experience!

I just worry a bit that it will over heat because the wheel is really getting a workout with it. I suppose I could turn down the settings some but nah... Having to much fun the way it is!

I would love to get my hands on the new thrustmaster to do a comparison myself. But unless I hit the lottery that ain't gonna happen for a while! :indiff:

I share tour concern about the overheating. In GT5 in long races the gt3 gets hot. So far it Goes well because i don't race that much and too long.
Only thing that bugs me right now is that i can't get centre wheel calibration to start. Used the manual , but gt3 still sits à bit offcentre.
But even with that glitch , i love the gt3.
It gives me the best realistic feel so far.

Grtz,

Bryan

Only thing that bugs me right now is that i can't get centre wheel calibration to start.

Mine does the same thing and I have a fix that I just happen to figure out myself.

When powering on the wheel wait till it turns all the way right and then when it goes back left to center right after it stops grab the wheel and turn it slightly back to the right and presto! Perfectly centered wheel.

I even check it on the PC profiler and it's perfectly in the center. Not every time I get it right though so I have to give it a couple try's until I get it. But after doing so much now I have it down pat.

When you see the wheel stop it will jolt slightly and that jolt I believe is what throws it off center so if you hold the wheel center or slightly to the right before that little jolt you should be dead on!

Let me know how you make out :)

Good info man....I will try that also. 👍

Thanks for that. I've already downloaded and read the user manual. This is going to be a long week waiting for it to get here
You are going to love it...About the overheating...I am sure it is fine...just my experience with any type of electronic equip is the cooler you keep it...the happier everybody is:)

Just wanted to mention while I'm thinking of it, If memory serves me right when you are using the wheel on the PS3 you first have to turn the wheel on and then put it in PS3 mode.

Well I believe it does that little jolt right after you hold in the 2 buttons to put it in PS3 mode. So pretty much what I'm saying is just make sure that you hold the wheel like I said before it jolts! In any mode! lol...

I'm just thinking you may have to do it twice when using it on the PS3 because of the extra PS3 mode step you have to take. Hope I'm making sense here lol...

OK, I have to ask this.
I was considering buying one of these and showed my dad it.
He noticed the Porsche logo on the wheel and pointed out that there was no "Trademark all rights reserved" etc.
I then proceded to search the site and wasn't able to find anything of the sorts that seems to suggest that they have Porsches permission.

My dad knows from past experiences (no specifics) that Porsche will jump on anybody for something like this.

After that, my dad said I couldn't buy one of these for that reason.

Can somebody elaborate?

Search on InsideSimracingtonight.com! I believe in one of there episodes they mention about Fanatec having some sort of deal with porsche :sly:

Tell your dad you want the Thrustmaster T500 then! Wait till he see's the price of that baby! lol... J/K

This is taken from the description page on the fanatec site:
Original Porsche 911 GT2 steering wheel design
Licensed by Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft mbH
Authentic metal Porsche logo on wheel
Wheel rim wrapped in genuine Alcantara® from Italy which is 100% the same material as used in the real cars.

Good luck with convincing your dad, Im getting my gt3 in 2 days and cant wait to try out my first ever wheel lol.

I remember ISR saying that fanatec has permission to put Porsche's logo on their wheels and even boasts that that the leather is made from the same Porsche leather.

Already did. :(
He said that he'll buy me a REAL car instead. :)
Jokingly of course.

Hmmm... If the DFGT is your alternative it's still a decent wheel! :sly:

I was happy with it but I'm trying to get a couple of my buddies into this hobby (like pullin teeth) and now I have a back up wheel or a wheel I can loan out to a friend to see if I can get them hooked! :embarrassed:

I actually own a DFGT now.
I just want to upgrade to have an H shifter and clutch.
I considered the Fanatec wheels, but after I saw some of the reviews on their customer service, I started to lean towards Logitech.

You're not going to get the same quality for the buck from Logitech. Not even at the same price point. Certainly not going to get active support from them. Thomas is a member here, he has his finger on the pulse of Fanate's users. He cares about our input. It leads to making better products and improving existing products with firmware updates.

I don't see where Logitech has out out any firmware updates for the G25 or G27 or even the DFGT to improve it or add functionality.

Yes, there was an issue with supply Vs demand when the GT2 launched. Couple that with the release of GT5 and the ever increasing iRacing user base, Fanatec had a sharp spike in demand! Those concerns have been, apparently, resolved. I got order in 6 days. Two of those days my stuff was sitting in a UPS hub because they don't work in weekends! The few times I gave needed to contact Thomas or his store staff, I had a response within 12 hours.

Logitech has a much larger staff than Fanatec, they have many more products to support.

Fret not. Here is a cut/paste from the Fanatec product page for the GT3 RS :
"Licensed by Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft mbH"

I too remember the ISR team mentioning that Fanatec had a license agreement with Porsche. Tell your Dad it's ok to spend his money on this! I'm a Dad myself and I'm sure Karma will bite me in the ass for this but there ya go ;)

Well said....I hope they make me a "Fanatec" 4 life...so far so good....The true test is if I have any product issues in the future and how they treat me.
At this point my next wheel will be a Fanatec product.

I totally agree with you there! I have been testing, testing, testing trying to put this wheel to the test and also to see how it performs with each sim I have, different cars ect...

So far to date I originally felt that iRacing produced the most realistic and strongest FFB. Well it is excellent with iRacing but tonight I found it's true match. If not better in regards to how this wheel feels with it. It's a sim that I have been neglecting to try but finally purchased tonight.

And I'm very sorry I didn't do it sooner! It's called netKar. It's setup a lot like iRacing in the way that you run it on your PC. They have introduced water effects just recently that let me tell you are nothing short of overwhelming.

To the point where I though I put on a pair of 3D glasses. I don't know how they do it but it is without a doubt the most immersive sim I have ever played with those water effects! And the GT3 once tuned correctly for this sim feels like it was made for it! Incredible guy's and just wanted to share a very positive experience I'm having with this wheel! :D

I have just received my packages and they are very heavy!! I placed my order on Sunday and it only took 3 days for my wheel to show up here!! The shipping is very fast!

It ships from CA. So that does not suprise me...but it looks like They are trying to fine tune the machine:tup:
Good luck...let us know what your first impressions are when you start to get it sorted out.
And yes...very well made , out of durable material....this is a serious toy.

Not to mention the plastic feels very nice to touch. I find that it is well worth the money even if I only set it up once a week(I have a homemade stand it takes time to setup, might get one of the folding stands if I have the money one day). Drove a Lotus Elise on the Top Gear track in GT5. I can say it felt fast and spun out a few times. Good fun to break up the weekly routine.

Just wanted to say thanks to Welda for starting this thread. It was one of the first I read when deciding on what wheel to go with. I ordered my GT3rs V2 feb. 19 and recieved it on the 28th. Now just waiting for my sim-seat to arrive to test it:nervous: But the look and feel of wheel and CSP is nothing short of amazing. Man I hope there is no problems when I fire this thing up. Thanks again for this thread it really helped me to pick fanatec over the G27.

No Problem Man....I am glad it helped you make your decision. You are a bigger man than me...no way could I wait untill I got a cockpit, that sucker would be clamped down to something:crazy:
Good luck...I'll be waiting for some pics and feedback when you get it up and running:tup:
BTW...Welcome to GT Planet.

If I get hooked I hope to upgrade PC for iracing:)

👍 Let me know if you need any help with upgrading the PC! :sly:

There are a bunch of sims to chose from btw...

This thread helped me and my decision as well! Talk about being at the right place at the right time!

I'm in - just ordered the GT3rs V2 and CS pedals. Replacing my 3-month-old DFGT :) Probably gonna hard-mount on my Obutto.

Sweet mother of all that is good and pure. I have a tracking number already and delivery is scheduled for Friday!!!

It's sad how excited I am :)

Note to UPS: If you miss this delivery I will not be accountable for my actions!

Honestly, springing for the ClubSport Table Clamp adds more flexibility, such as angle adjusting. AND most importantly for Obutto owners, it moves the wheel about 6-7 inches closer to you. Why does this matter? You'll see.

Seat distance, wheel height (higher than your passenger car for ideal racing position), pedal distance, and reclining angle. It all comes into play for fine tuning the cockpit to your body. Plus if you have kids, it really helps.

The Obutto was designed to be expandable. It had to be open to accommodate the optional table top and swinging of the keyboard tray. In doing so, the seat slider needs to be all the way or nearly all the way forward.

Check the last few posts in the Obutto thread.
