Thanks guy's! I am really making leaps and bounds with the settings and starting to get a feel for the GT3. Which IMO once you get used to the belt driven FFB this wheel is on a hole different level.

I signed back up over at iRacing and so far the sims with the best feel to them IMO are in this order.

1. iRacing (Feels like a real friggin car) lol...

2. Race 07 series Evo STCC ect... (Gotta love the grit of this sim) FFB Wise Feels like a race car! If I new what that really felt like of course! lol

3.rFactor (By far the best modible sim) The FFB is weakest so far with this sim but the sense of speed and immersion is top notch!

Now this is just my opinion and haven't tried a bunch load of different cars yet.

I'm going to fire up GT5 soon and see how that feels. Thank god I will finally be able to change the degrees of rotation in that sim!!!

Wheel is getting warm like you guy's have mentioned so I would say it's perfectly normal. I am anxious to see what kind of setup you come up with welda! :D

Boy I wish I could sit that close to my TV when I play.

Anyway, the extra bag of screws I had were with the extra (optional) table clamp that I bought (but ended up not using--oh well--I wanted to have it handy in case I decided to use it). The longer of the two different lengths were just long enough for the wheel shelf on my obutto ozone, fortunately.

In GT5 I purchased a (premium) FD RX-7 for one of the Beginner race series (90s Japanese cars). The GT3RS is fantastic with that car! It felt so good and much more like driving a real car. I'm finding I think I like the settings on the wheel pretty much all set to the defaults. I have one saved with ABS vibration set to 80 and another with ABS vibration off (for cars with no ABS). I think I'm going to bump up the ABS percentage a bit higher--it still seems like it comes on a bit too easily. Of course, on a real car, that will depend on a lot of factors, so I don't know. insidesimracing.tv recommend 65, but that seemed to quick for ABS to kick in to me.

Boy I wish I could sit that close to my TV when I play.

I wish I had 3 of them that I could sit that close too! lol... Some day I would like to set up a triple monitor setup. My PC is ready for it. I just need the monitors! :ouch:

2 more monitors would break the bank right now for sure so I'll just stick with what I have for now.

Anyhow, the GT3 is growing on me by the minute! I have noticed that turning the wheel fast and hard (To avoid a crash) seems effortless to the wheel. In other words when I would turn my DFGT really fast and hard it felt like I was going to break it because I could feel the gears screaming for help.

Like they didn't want to turn that quick if that makes sense. But the GT3 does this like it was made for it. And to top it off the center spring snaps the wheel back to center quickly and very smoothly.

Just something I have noticed. In order for me to use the vibration feature on the brake pedal I have to use a sim that supports it. rFactor has a plugin for it but I have read that it can cause some problems.

Still looking into it. This 6 speed shifter style of driving in sims is brand new to me and is taking a lot of adjustment! I have to be careful when going into a sharp turn not to down shift and let the clutch out to early or my wheels will lock up. It's just a hole new ball game now and I'm loving it!

When ever the CS shifter comes out I will get that so I can shift in GT5 with an H shifter! :)

Yeah, I can't wait for the CS shifter. I wish I had the standard one I ordered!

After doing some more GT5 tonight, I have these settings:

  • I adjusted the brake pedal potentiometer to require a bit more force to get to maximum braking
  • SEN: 900
  • FF: 100
  • SHO: 40 (doesn't work if I enable ABS vibration, though)
  • DRI: 1
  • ABS: 85 (or OFF in S_2)
  • LIN: 0
  • DEA: 0
  • SPR: 0
  • DPR: 0

these are my settings...
Sen-720
ff- 100
sho-0
dri-0 this is drift mode and there are 3 settings.
abs-90
lin-10
dea-20
spr-+1
dpr +2

Had a bit of a problem today but I think I'm okay.

In the profiler for the Fanatec hardware there are calibration adjustments and tests you can do to make sure everything is working properly.

Well I have been so concerned about the GT3 crapping out on me that I didn't even think that mt CSP might give me a problem. I noticed that my gas was sticking! Not the actual pedal it self but something screwy with the circuit.

Just the gas though. The other 2 pedals where working fine. I noticed when I inverted them and that the one wire going to the gas was tied in a knot. I thought that was a bit strange but let it be.

So in the profiler I could see that when I touched the same wire that my gas would work fine for a bit and then it would stick again. So I decided to take the wire out completely and undo the knot. I then put it back together and tightened things up and now it is working perfectly.

So I'm hopping it was just a loose wire or a bad connection or something. All is well now though.

When I first realized what was happening I thought maybe something was going screwy with the PC driver. So I then hooked everything up to the PS3 with the CSP plugged into the wheel (which I don't do when using the PC) and I had the same problem.

So my best guess is that it was the wire. I think that knot in it was causing to much tension on it and causing it to have a bad connection.

While using GT5 I must say that I really liked how the GT3 felt in it! So much better then the DFGT with GT5 that's for sure. I thought to myself, did they give the FFB a boost in the last patch or something? But I read the contents of the last patch and it's actually the GT3 that's making the improvement with it. 👍

My settings for starters are

sens: 900
ff: 100
sho:100
dri: 2
abs: 65
lin: 0
dead: 0
spr.: 0
dpr: 0

I love how the brake vibrates when ya lock the wheels up while breaking too! :sly:

👍

Let us know how things go! What are you using now?

I am still using my old DFP with frex shift+ that I brought back in 2006 for GT4. I also swapped the original steering wheel with a real OMP corsica wheel with frex wheel adapter, but I recently put the original wheel back because the force feedback just feels a lot stronger. I think this is a good time to upgrade something better. The CSP and the wheel looks very promising and I hope that this will be a big step up from my DFP. Also I will try to get my Frex shift+ to work with GT3 RS V2. So stay tuned! :)

T.Y.- You are going to love it...the more I use it the, the better it gets. It has more of a realistic feel and almost makes you forget it is a game....I ran the Formula cars yesterday and this is where the options on the wheel realy stood out...I adjusted the sen to 360....and left everything else the same...This was awesome.....the ffb was spectacular...if you touched one of your front tires on the rumble strip it let you know...and the feedback was true. Love the abs also.
Keep us posted on your experience.

I just received an email stating "your order will be shipped now" this morning. This seems unusually fast

@Welda - I will definitely keep you guys updated!

I was mislead by that email. I took it to mean that it was shipping out and would arrive in about a week. What it meant was, we will ship it within about a week. Still, mine arrived in reasonable time.

They do not rush the shipping...read this thread...the e-mail is very misleading....it does not ship untill you get your tracking # I placed my order on a Fri afternoon...and it did not ship untill a couple days after the e-mail...but in all it took 11 days to arrive. Be patient...they keep you out of the loop, that was my main problem...and just a headz up, dont be freaked out when it show's delivered as the status and you still have not recieved a tracking #. They need to work on that part...

I think when Fanatec say's delivered they are referring to delivery of the shipping info to whom is delivering it! Right after I got the delivered status on fanatecs website, UPS notified me that they received the shipping info and made the delivery slip but was waiting on the merchandise to arrive so they could ship it.

I was talking to someone about this odd confusing info but they said they have experienced the same misleading info from something they purchased from e bay.

What that email is telling you is that the shipping process has begun. The next step is for UPS to pick it up. Once they have it in their possession, they will dilly dally. They will keep it at this hub for 12 hours and then that hub for 8 hours and then send it north of you by 2 hours. It will sit there overnight instead of the hub 15 minutes south. Then it will be put on a truck to be sent to your local distribution center where it will sit overnight again. At 6am it will go out for delivery! Depending on which of your area's drivers gets ahold of it, you'll have it before 10am or after 5pm.

Unless we get some weird debilitating storm, hopefully you'll have it by Friday. Well, then there is UPS sitting on it over the weekend because they don't really want to compete with FedEx. FedEx does Saturday deliveries :)

Fanatec is great about getting your order ready to be shipped. UPS likes to drag their feet, unless you spend extra for "normal" shipping speeds: 2 day or even next day.

I don't know what Thomas would have to do to get the deal set up, but selling on Amazon could benefit them.

Here at home we have 3 wheels.
A DFGT, a G25 and my newly bought GT3RS v2.
The DFGT is used by my brother, and seeing him using it , i wonder that it still works by some of the noises he get out of it. But the DFGT still works fine. Have tried it myself but in my opinion the G25 is better
The GT3 RS v2 replaced my G25. Did GT5P with it and is still working fine as of day one when I first started with it
The G25 is still a great wheel even after using the GT3 now for a few weeks.
The DFGT has the benefit of changing settings in game, which is a geat feature ( if the GT3 had that option also it would make that wheel even better then it already is).
But the GT3 is better. Especially in combination with the CS pedals.
Love the 5 slots for storing settings, the looks, and using the GT3 for GT5.
Adapted a Wheelstand Pro for the GT3 and i'm a happy man now.

You wouldn't believe how the GT3 performs with iRacing! It's a hole different experience!

I just worry a bit that it will over heat because the wheel is really getting a workout with it. I suppose I could turn down the settings some but nah... Having to much fun the way it is!

I would love to get my hands on the new thrustmaster to do a comparison myself. But unless I hit the lottery that ain't gonna happen for a while! :indiff:

I'm in - just ordered the GT3rs V2 and CS pedals. Replacing my 3-month-old DFGT :) Probably gonna hard-mount on my Obutto.

Quick question - can the wheel buttons be remapped via the GT5 wheel config screen ?

A must IMO! Congrats on the new purchase! Wise choice if I do say so myself!

And to answer you question yes! Here check out this vid...http://www.youtube.com/user/simracingtonight#p/u/13/bGVbF8Mg3ZQ

Im thinking about labeling my buttons myself on the wheel because I have so many different sims that I run and different mapped buttons for each. So it's getting a bit confusing! :scared:

Cool. Another GT3RSV2 owner.

I keep a printout of the button mappings on the keyboard shelf on my obutto ozone. Right now I only have one for GT5, as I haven't bothered to reinstall NFS:Shift after my first PS3 died months ago, but once my NFS:Shift2 arrives, I'll do a printout for that.

Yay today i resived my replacement wheel GT3 rs v2. And its perfect:D Its not like the last wheel with defekted sensor:) Am sry i just had to share this somewhere:)

Happy to hear that it all worked out for you! Enjoy the wheel! I know I sure am 👍

That's a good idea. I noticed in the last ISR video shawn was using a G27 and had the buttons labeled on the wheel so I thought that was pretty wise to.

I have been gaming ever since the Atari 2600 and have had pretty much every system since. I have always had a thing for racing games. In fact I remember years ago buying a wheel for my PC (that was like the first PC to come out) and playing Need for speed 1 or 2... Can't remember.

Anyhow, they didn't have cockpit view then I don't think and was accustomed to playing racing games with the car (rear bumper) 3rd person type view.

One day I joined a community that was running competitive racing with Forza 2. Just for kicks I went to the local Gamestop and picked up the microsoft wheel for it and my madness begun!

So now I have become an avid (struggling) sim racer. But every now and then I like to fire up a arcadey type racing game for fun and Need for speed shift is that game.

I just purchased it for 30 bucks on steam and am having fun with it. Setting up the wheel, shifter and pedals was brutal but I got it all worked out now.

Looking forward to shift 2 as well! It's sometimes a nice change of pace to go back to those type racers instead of some really boring ones with lame career modes and challenges.

Did you play Activision's "Enduro" on the Atari 2600? I still remember sitting in front of the TV playing that for hours. I got to the point where I mastered it--I could play indefinitely without losing.

This is the place...we want to hear about everybodys experience with Fanatec...Good and Bad. Good luck with your new GT3:tup:
