My first impression of the wheel was....wow! the wheel looks very impressive, it appears to be made of high quality material. Not sure about the clamp yet...although I did use it for 5 hours. More on that later....Upon unpacking I noticed the lack of instruction manuals....they provide you with a quick start guide, and there website www.fanatec/support to download the manual....but the manual for the rs must be for V1, because it is totaly diff...so I downloaded the 911gt2 and it has all the adjustment info...very clearly written out...after I did this it was a breeze...after an hour or so I was ready to race ...I will tweek these a little here and there...-Feedback in steps of 10 -Shock Vibration Felt in the wheel"motor revs"- Sensitivity 90 degree to 900 in ten degree increments- ABS Vibration -Linearity- Dead Zone -Spring Back- Damper adjustment and Drift mode 1,2,3. All these can be adjusted on the fly, and you also have 5 program spots for diff setups.
After getting my wheel dialed in I could not believe how smooth and quiet it is....this is a big step up from the DFGT... a Huge step. The feedback is firm and clean with no rocking back and forth...if you have a DFGT then you know what I am saying. So far I am very pleased with this setup. The pedals do need to be tuned...I would like a stiffer throttle so the firmer spring will make its way on...but the brake feels ...well, like a brake and not a plastic on off switch...so far I would say if you have ordered one the GT3rs you will be happy, after a few hours of tuning you will be realy happy. As soon as I figure out how to post pics I will.
Now I need to start working on the cockpit.

You can adjust the nut that stiffens the spring on the throttle. It added to the feel that I wanted on the gas pedal and works well. Best to try that before you buy a replacement spring.

I will post some more pics tommorow...And give some more feed back...def would order the mounting plate if you cant make one...they do supply a template...I am going to fab one at work, the stock clamp is a bit cheesy, although I did not have any problems with it tonight.

Excellent news!!! I am coming from the DFGT and your comment has gotten me even more excited about Friday!

I didn't get much shipping info on the SST Shifter I purchased but it's all good because it was delivered first thing this morning! :)

I plan on mounting a cup holder in front of it!

Hey Welda, Are you using your new setup with strictly GT5?

John: You are def going to be pleased....just take your time....and read the manual download it now, and when it arrives you will be ahead of the game....once I figured out what each individual setting did it was alot more enjoyable. Great looking shifter you got there!!! I did a little work on my custom mount today...but was real busy with "Work" to get anything done other than a design...but I will bring the camera in and document it to post. ** Remember download the manual for the 911gt2** I will have some more reviews later...after a couple more hours of playing.

I can't wait for Friday

Funny... You and I are in the same boat waiting until Friday!

Welda: Did those black paddle shifters come with the wheel or did you have to buy them separate?

Edit: Never mind on that. I see that they do!

How about firmware version? Any idea if it's got the latest? I would assume it would being that you just got it.

Very nice pics btw! Are you planning on inverting the CSP or just leaving them as is? I am inverting them but first I will use them as is to make sure they are working properly.

Plus to achieve the inverted pedals I'm going to have to do a little re wiring and switch the clutch and gas springs.

I'll read up on the manual! Thanks for the heads up 👍

John...Yes and they have 2 styles to choose from...the ones I chose, and these
NewWheel018-1.jpg

There is a spacer block that you use for either style....
I have to tell you that the more I use this thing...the more good things I can say....at first I thought the Brake feedback would be cheesy, but I just got done running my GT500 car and the feed back is awesome...it adds alot to the game. And the "aparent" Quality and fit and finsh is top notch....The true test is longevity...How long is it going to work properly??? I hope for a long...long time...but we will see. I will be running the pedals inverted as soon as I figure out what I am going to do for a frame. First things first....Aquire better mounting system....after further review the stock table clamp does bite...it losend up 2 times and even when tight has a slight rock....but if you solid mount it will be nice....so I guess there is 1 bad thing I can say...but that is an easy fix:)

I made a quick table clamp @ work today....came out alright for a prototype.

A new desk will have to do....I will look for something this weekend.

That looks great Welda! Good job with DIY mount for the GT3! What type of metal is that? Aluminum? Or Galvanized or something? Did you weld that together yourself? Great idea putting the bevel on it for the right angle! 👍

I hope I put enough of an angle with my rig. It's perfect with the DFGT but I won't know until I get the actual wheel tomorrow. I also moved my monitor closer to the wheel and I hope it works out the same tomorrow with the GT3.

Is the wheel cabinet much bigger than the DFGT's? You know, were the motor is.

Here are a couple pic's of the angle I have on my rig. This is my 26" sony LCD I use for GT5 in the pics. I use a 28" monitor for the PC. It's a PITA switching them around for PS3/PC but I don't mind. The computer at 1920X1200 res looks awesome and I can't achieve that with the sony.

Do you think this angle will work okay? I have to run out and grab some 6MM screws so I can hard mount tomorrow right to my rig. It's just plywood 3/4" so it should work great!

Yes John it is aluminum...and yes I fabbed it up today. Thank You....it took me about 45 min. I got the idea from looking at other clamps and had some scrap pieces hanging around my bench and came up with this.... the angle on the wheel is about the same as the dfgt...yours looks about right:) That picture was not the right angle I had to adjust it a bit to get it where I was comfy...but have been on it for a couple hours and it works perfectly...it brings the wheel up and towards me....

Here is a closeup of some of the welds
NewWheel007-1.jpg

Everything is aluminum except for the t-rod...I made those on the lathe out of 316 Stainless Steel, then tapped the aluminum plate to accept them...I will bring back in tommorow and shorten a bit and add a lug to get em nice and snug:)

That's a handsome bead I must say! lol... I got top grade in my welding class in my apprenticeship but they only taught us stick welding with steel. Not aluminum. I hear that can be tricky.

Once I have the wheel in my hands I'll know how it's gonna fit in my rig. I'm just anxiously waiting and figured I would ask ya since you obviously know a thing or two about angles and what not.

+1 on the welding:tup:
Thanks for the compliments:)
it's a little tricky...but once you figure out the melting point your good.

Tweeking the settings a bit more...Does anybody have any settings they want to share? I just want to get an idea of what people are doing with there wheels and what type of racing they are doing.

Check a few posts back...

Ok, I have a major problem and I can't find any info on this specifically. I adjusted the throw on my CSP Brake. Now (with max load cell adjusted) I am only getting about 50% brake. This is on GT5 and the software. I do not see an option to reset the brakes or calibrate them.

I had a problem earlier with the throttle not always going to 100%. This was solved by tightening the 3 screws on the magnetic sensor.

As for settings, loom a few posts back. Not 3, 5, or maybe 10,. Keep looking back until you do find them. Basically start with the basics... nothing added.

I had a similar problem, see here. I hope you don't have the same... because this means that you have a broken load cell!

I wrote immediately to Fanatec support and after a week I had a new load cell from them that solved the problem! (thank you Fanatec for quick respond!👍)

I moved the brake back to it's original (bottom) position and it works fine.

I'm hesitant to reduce the throw on the throttle now...

They are out for delivery! :dopey:

It looks like some here have taken there CSP apart. I will be doing the same to invert them. First I will use them as is though to make sure they are working right from the get go.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions when taking them apart and/or putting them back together please share! Thanks.
