My guess is because theoretically you dont need the pedals to race. You can assign buttons to gas and brake. But driving without steering wheel is not possible. It appears though that certainly at least Sony (so say Fanatec reps here and Xbox looks to be just the same requirement), the console companies want a full solution plug in solution i.e. Wheel and wheelbase bundled together. But ... if that is really the case, then how come pedals are not also included?
They did hire simracinggirl specifically to do "showcases" in house.Hopefully the auction delay means reviewers like the Simpit and Sim Racing Garage get wheels ahead of the release day and are able to post their reviews to help those on the fence about the Fanatec DD systems
Barry is top of their list for people they want to go test it, whether they mind him taking gear he’s bought apart is moot, the sway his opinion has in the community and experience with every other DD solution is what’s important. They did hire simracinggirl specifically to do "showcases" in house.
I dont think the relationship is that good between them. Shaun Cole was very annoyed in the livestream and barry always disassembles every piece of gear he gets his hands on and I dont know if Fanatec is happy with that kind of practice. But I could be wrong in my assumptions. But personally I would wait on those 2 reviews as well.

If Barry says it’s better than a Bodnar and OSW it will sell like hot cakes.
Maybe its best for you to read PocketZeven's post to better understand, post #786It IS the case. How many times does the CEO of Fanatec have to say it. Lol..
DD1 and DD2 base without wheel is PC and Xbox compatible.Im still confused about ps4 compatibility.
DD1 + CSL P1 rim = works on ps4 ?
PS4 compatibility is in the base. CSL Elite racing wheel and podium racing wheel are the only ones compatible with PS4, no matter what rim you are using. It has been discussed if the CSL wheel in combination with the DD1is compatible with the PS4. I can't remember if it is comptible or not.

Auctions are postponed for two weeks now ... Oh fanatec ... Not surprised

Oh no you won't be able to bid on the chance for a discounted product that won't be released until December for another two weeks. Ohhhhh nooooooo.
I know that it is a security chip that is the base of the DD1 wheel.
EDIT: what the heck did I write, see above..
I was trying to say that there is a security chip inside the DD1 base, which makes this base compatible with the PS4.
No the T500 doesn’t have the chip, in reality no chip is needed it was so companies would sell new wheels and get new sales, like Seinfeld used to say “not that there is anything wrong with that”I always wondered what this security chip actually does... The T500 was a PS3 wheel, did they already built this chip in this wheel?
Yes but that security chip still does exist. I am just curious what does it do?No the T500 doesn’t have the chip, in reality no chip is needed it was so companies would sell new wheels and get new sales, like Seinfeld used to say “not that there is anything wrong with that”

This device simply allows you to plug in a standard PS4 controller to it. That same hub also allows you to plug in your base. The hub uses it's hardware/firmware to trick the PS4 into recognizing that your wheelbase has the security chip in it because it's using the one found on the standard PS4 controller to tell it it's good to use.
I think Drivehub might also allow other pedals to work ... but I am not sure. Also, I think such devices would be more likely to work if Drivehub's list of compatible devices is shown on their website.
Another alternative is the Gimx solution, which besides requiring a cable device - a GIMX USB wheel/mouse adapter (that can be made oneself out of parts or bought from the Gimx site for around $20 or so) then the software is free although donations can be made. The French software writer has made the GIMx software public domain I think - although if it works I'll make a donation. I have ordered such a device and when it comes I'll try the G27 with the PS4. Then I'll have to decide whether I buy some decent pedals (and I could upgrade the G27 with a variable spring set that feels closer to load cell) or maybe buy the V3 pedals. If the V3 pedals work then I feel its little risk to get a standard DD1 and use it on the PS4. And look around for a suitable Fanatec wheel. The Gimx might allow me also to use the pretty nasty but effective G27 separate gearshift as well.
The easy way for me is to buy an LC PS4 Fanatec setup, and add the V3 brake option. The circular PS4 Elite wheel doesn't seem to be able to be bought without the Elite wheelbase either... But if I do get an LC PS4 setup then I doubt I'll get the DD setup. I hardly used my G27 wheel before stopping sim driving, and I haven't simmed since the GT6 PS3 years - so getting what feels like three wheelbases inside 7 months doesn't feel good to me.
Yeah this sim racing business gets expensive really fast ...
Maybe you should sell some of that stuff?
I guess with "GAS" one always wants the next best thing. I had thought the Elite with its 6nm and less feel wasn't a long term solution but I guess I should just get it and see how things go, at least its got no issues on the PS4 and I can fiddle with 3rd party via gimX and my Logitech gear shift. And then likely join your and the rest of the sim "club" in getting new gear all the time ... I guess like smart phones its the way the bigger companies want things to be and we just have to go along with it. I guess if the V3 pedals fail I can't complain because at the moment they don't look that costly compared to other metal pedals out there with load cells like the costly ones you are about to buy ... my small size 8 feet might not even have been able to use those Heusinkveld Ultimate driving in socks as I have done so far!
Lol, just don’t watch sim gear review shows like the simpit or sim racing garage, otherwise you’ll always want something “better“
I don’t like to sell my old gear even though I know I will never use it again
The v3 pedals are good mid range pedals I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about this high end set, sure they cost me more than the Fanatec DD 2 base but they seem to get very high praise everywhere
Who says they aren’t reliable? Mine worked just fine I just wanted something higher end with better build quality so sold them.I'm still waiting for the Gimx device to arrive, maybe next week it will.
So being directly influenced by you, and with my main intention being Gran Turismo (which I drove a few years ago with GT6, I bought today the Fanatec PS4 Elite kit, and also some V3 pedals with the foam tuning whatnots option. I didn't get the extra hydraulic feel upgrade. Not sure if I should have.
I hope to sell the Elite wheelbase and the base two pedal set which won't have been used and then get the DD1 ... or not, the Elite maybe enough ... I've read people saying the V3s are not that reliable, so maybe the (very low cost) bundled two pedal Elites will keep me going if there's an issue with the V3s. I checked but your in the USA so I didn't bother offering to buy your V3s - the transport from the USA to Australia is quite costly.
I also never had any problems with my V3s I just wanted something better that’s why I upgradedWho says they aren’t reliable? Mine worked just fine I just wanted something higher end with better build quality so sold them.
