Thanks to Jordan for letting me post this...

This year sees the fifth running of the giles-guthrie.com Fantasy Formula One contest. It's a bit late in opening this year, but I've had rather a lot on recently...

The upshot is that if you want to enter, you have until next Thursday (4th March) to pick your team. Things are fairly straightforward: you have to pick three drivers, a chassis, an engine and a set of tyres.

So, come to the site, and play this year. I've worked hard to fix some of last year's faults, and to make the contest a little less rough around the edges.

You can get to the Fantasy F1 site by clicking this link.

Probably not correct as I can't actually remember my team selection :banghead:
I think I'm gonna come last with that lot :irked: .

I registered, i've never done something like this. I forget who I picked.

Oh yeah, I picked button and Heidfield and some other guy. I forget the rest.

Thats tough with the budget....
Idealy i want Kimi/Truili/Button with the Ferrari chassis/Ferrari or BMW engine/bridgestone tires.....

That being said iw as forced to go with

Truili/Button/Fisi (pretty damn good drivers though) diring the minardi/minardi engine/bridgstone tires.

great drivers, great tires and a crap chassis/engine...should be a fun year....

Well as I forgot to add my team to the pool:

Team Name: Hang the Expense.

Driver 1: Button
Driver 2: Trulli ( I think)
Driver 3: Yoong (Hey, I'm working on a budget!)

Chassis: BAR
Engine: Toyota
Tyre: Bridgestone

Millencolin: I need your book-keeper. My budget didnt work out like yours :(

I'm just racking up the post count.

Well, I signed up as well.
I think bridgestone's are going to be very popular this season :)

ha, mine worked out by luck. i got my drivers because theyre cheap and are good, then i got a ford engine because im a ford fan and from there it was simple.

Last year most people picked Michelin, because they realised that having Renault, Williams and McLaren on Michelin gave them a great chance of some big points.

And they were right, Michelin outscoring Bridgestone almost 2:1.

This year, the inflated (heh heh) price of the Michelins reflects the fact that they have all the works teams save Ferrari.

Slick move. They priced themselves out of the market 👍

First Driver: David Coulthard.
Second Driver: Nick Heidfeld.
Third Driver: Alexander Wurz.
Chassis: Jordan.
Engine: Renault.
Tyres: Bridgestone.

Oh yeah... that's 70 mil down the drain

Right, team name: Pacific Pride.

First Driver: Kimi Raikkonen
Second Driver: Cristiano da Matta
Third Driver: Alexander Wurz
Chassis: Jordan
Engine: Ford
Tyres: Bridgestone

I have very little knowledge of the last year of F1, so I just clicked the boxes and came $1 million under budget.

Well, I've created my team for this year:

Team Name: Quischen Racing
First driver: Fernando Alonso
Second Driver:Christiano da Matta
Third Driver Pedro de La Rosa
Chassis: Renault
Engine: Ford
Tires: Bridgestone

I couldn't recall how good de La Rosa is as a driver since 2002 when I started seriously watching Formula One. I didn't want the Ford engine but it was the only way I could get the renault chassis and Alonso to boot.

This should be interesting...

That's the idea!

My self-named team:
Team Name: Cement Mixed
Driver 1: Ralf Schumacher
Driver 2: Jenson Button
Driver 3: Giorgio Pantano
Chassis: Jordan
Engine: Cosworth (Minardi)
Tyres: Bridgestone.

69 at the current time.

However, there are quite a few regular players who leave things until the last minute. I also see that the number of hours remaining is incorrect.

Yay, 55 points, that gives me 1m spending money for replacement of drivers and such, not that it really helps me at all! I need a fair bit more if I'm going to get a new driver instead of Sebastion Bordais.

I'm thinking with BAR's performance that I should change to that, but Toyota was expacted (IMO) to be alot better than last year with how much they spent.

So far so good for Super Renault Racing, already 6th in the standings after the first race. My choice of Alonso as well as Renault was well worth it.

In the end I only had $1 left. I was left with Ford powerplants and Christian Klein as my only other driver who actually drives this season.

Mine only had 1 million left in the coughers, but wasn't as productive points wise.

Wow. with my setup I had nothing left. I also went with ford as the engine. I take it you have Michelin tires?

I am 16th overall and have a renault setup also.
